It's unexpectedly nicer than you think. Out front of the hotel is kinda sketchy but once inside you'd think that you were on market street.

Absolutely horrendous. They tried to charge me an extra $50 until I stopped them. There was a semen stain on our bed. Communal bathrooms were sickly dirty. Area was extremely ghetto—did not feel safe at all. Don’t recommend this place to anyone.

First of all, when I got there, nobody was at the front desk so I was standing at the streets for 10 minutes. The hallways and the room smelled like cigarettes. Then the keys didn’t want to work so I went downstairs 4 times and the las solution was giving me another room. The bed sheets were stained with blood. So gross. And the last night somebody opened my bedroom cause the office rented the same room I was staying in. Don’t you ever go to that place

Location of this hotel is very good and convenient. Proportions qualify for the price in San Francisco was good as well. I did enjoy my stay, rooms were clean, but carpet looked a little beat outdated. Room had a little sink , microwave and fridge inside which was handy, and as well there was access to some more facilities in the common area next to reception. Guy in the reception Mohamed was very kind to me, and very helpful. I lost in this hotel my mobile phone, staff was trying to help me but it was sadly never found. If I would come back to San Francisco, definitely I will stay here!👍

Very convenient if you have a conference in Moscone center. The room was clean and washrooms were cleaned regularly. The area is riddled with homeless people but so is the rest of San Francisco. They don't bother you and in fact were kind to me when I walked by. I loved the proximity to downtown and all its restaurants. Don't miss having breakfast at bakery in the corner.

Although right in the heart of 6th street and the extreme poverty, the neighborhood is a lively place that never seems to sleep. The hotel with shared bathrooms is kept clean. Rooms are quite small but they’re also cheap, appropriately $70 a night. No visitors allowed during the pandemic. Cheap and good restaurants are near by as are some downtown theaters.

The staff was friendly but that doesn't make up for how utterly disgusting this place was. First of all, needs to be advertised as a hostel. When we got to our room it was two twin beds pushed together which was odd but the sheets were stained. The carpet was dirty, and there was snot smeared on the wall. The bathrooms are shared but they are dusty and smell awful.
There was a drunk guy yelling at the front desk staff one of the days and it made me scared to walk past.
The breakfast was fine but I couldn't bring myself to eat it because the rest of the hotel was so disgusting.. wish

If I compare value and price, its very good. Our stay was cheap and we had everything we needed here. Beware of the location and be prepared for homeless People on the Street but it také you only 2 minutes to get here from the main street. Hotel is safe. This location is great for BART trains to or from the Airport, use the stop Civic center.

Nice hotel (hostel). It is good value for money. The location is close to centre. The area is not the best because of homeless people but that's San Francisco. Breakfast is very simple. Room cleaning is only done when you request it. You can change the towels at the reception 24/7. Restrooms & showers are shared.

Solid value, but bring your earplugs

This is a good travel hotel -- amazingly low price, apparently good safety and security, fairly comfortable beds in a small room with shared facilities, good access to public transit, friendly and efficient staff when I was there, no insects or disinfectant smell. Next door, you can find the Frena Bakery, which serves clean and exceptionally tasty food. The neighborhood was OK -- SanFrancisco-dirty and overrun, but colorful, unaggressive, and ethnic. The clientele is diverse and you can meet people from around the world.
On the definitely bad side, it is

Positive stuff - My girlfriend and I stayed for a couple days during our summer vacation here. The pricing is great for what it is. Everything looks nice and modern and has great security to make you feel safe. They offer free breakfast and drinks in the morning which is good and housekeeping always knocks in the morning to ask you if you need anything. The WiFi, fridge, microwave, and tv cable worked perfectly in the room, no complaints on that. You have to share two separate shower rooms with the people on your floor which is fine, they were nice and clean and never had any problems waiting for

First of all the walls were dirty, I am sure they don't clean the room well after someone checks out. Also the window was broken! It was a hot day and we couldn't open the window and there was no air conditioning! Some of the hangers that were provided was broken! The only good thing about this place was the shared bathrooms seemed clean and the free breakfast, but I would not stay there again!

The room was awful, the neighbourhood very dangerous. The 2 stars are for the friendly receptionist. I literally couldn’t hide my room from the outside, as there was no curtains or shutter. No private bathroom, a collective and (in my experience) dirty one. The streets are full of homeless and addicts, fault to the government but nonetheless very disturbing for a tourist and the shout at night... beware of the zombies.
Add to all that the ridiculous price, I paid 110$ a night for my room and changed after the second day to go to Hilton near Union Square for 130$ a night... Overall a big scam

Location is really close to a lot of attractions however it isn't always the safest area, a lot of noise at night and a lot of homeless people. We were never bothered though. Rooms were simple but were perfect for what we wanted as a young couple exploring the city. Facilities were kept clean, there was one per corridor. Would stay here again!

Reading through these reviews made me nervous. But I was pleased with my decision to book here. It's cheap and close to the downtown area. Of course it was a bit sketchy with all the homeless and tweekers around but what can you expect in a downtown area. I'm used to that being from an area such as that. Just ignore them. The rooms were good, one was a tight squeeze so we switched to a corner room. It was clean overall. The breakfast served was very basic. Maybe adding a bit more would be helpful. The biggest peeve I had was that the windows did not have screens nor did they open properly

This is a hostel and should be marketed as such.

Shared showers and bathrooms, clean for the most part. Room is advertised as 2 beds, but they are pushed together. Not the greatest area, there were sirens and people yelling outside the hostel all night long. Would recommend another place if you're traveling with a family.

This is exactly what you pay for:

It is in the ghetto!
Rooms are small as a regular bedroom!
YOU SHARE THE BATHROOM WITH THE WHOLE FLOOR - my fault for not knowing this.
There is a security gate when you come in which is good because there are sooo many homes less people outside. Sooooooo many.
The hotel has 4 floor - rooms everywhere you go. You will see so many different people from different cultures and countries which is pretty awesome, and you get to enjoy free breakfast between 7-10 am (cereal, oatmeal, toast - orange, apple, cranberry juice).

It's typically clean, the bathrooms

This hotel is surprisingly worth your money. We didn't want to pay for anything fancy since we have a packed tour itinerary for 4-nights; all we needed was a place to sleep. Reviews of this hotel were mixed and were very true--the outside wasn't too safe, but inside was..and that's what mattered. We had free breakfast and the guests get to see each other at the mess hall every morning--Minna Hotel attracts a very decent crowd. No one was rowdy or cheap. The breakfast itself was continental and good enough--good coffee, some cereal, loaves of bread, jam, butter and oatmeal. We used

Holy bejezzus, hotels in San Francisco are expensive. I was looking for a mid priced Marriott or the like for a weekend and could not believe that nothing was less than about 300 bucks once taxes were figured in. I went to booking.com to try my luck and found Minna Hotel for about $155 a night for a double room after taxes.

Minna Hotel is much like a nice backpacker hostel in Europe, but instead of being $40 bucks a night, it is priced like a much nicer hotel in any city other than San Francisco. Though not fancy, the hotel was clean and was fine for a cheap place to stay in SF. The room did
