Stayed for two nights.
Pros: fridge/microwave/coffee maker available, hair dryer worked great, discount for parking at parking garage, bed comfortable, close proximity to sightseeing activities, lots of restaurants within walking distance.
Cons: Heater did not work very well and blankets were thin so it was cold, water for shower was not as hot as I would like, lamp didn't work, room small, door to bathroom did not shut easily, walls thin.
If staying 1-2 days, it might not be bad if weather isn't extreme on either end. Building is old. We did not use elevator but stairways and hallways

My stay at this hotel was incredible. After a terrible stay an Airbnb I was desperate to find a place that was nice, clean, and safe. This hotel saved my trip and made it so much better.Last minute notice they were able to accommodate me and my friend to a lovely room.We stayed there for five nights it was peaceful and affordable. The location is great and the staff is incredibly nice. Would definitely recommend and come back to.

Girlfriend booked us a trip last December, but due to the Covid local stay at home order we were forced to cancel / reschedule our trip. The hotel management at Mithila was very difficult to get ahold of - at first the reception desk kept telling us to call back once the manager is in, only to find out after several days of calling that the manager has been working from home the whole time anyways! Not only that, they were very inconsiderate of the whole pandemic situation and refused to allow us to reschedule our stay, so we lost money of the entire trip that we were not able to take. We were

If you like decent cleanliness don’t go here. First off the pictures sugarcoat how the place actually looks. The toilet looks rusted, the floor looks rusted. Not to mention the stained sheets, one of the beds had a red stain of I don’t know what. One big thing, it smells like something died in there. The atmosphere is like one of a scary movie where you think you’re gonna see 2 little girls at the end of the hall way. Another thing they’re heavy on no refunds, they are uneasy to check in.if I can say anything, Spend the extra money to stay somewhere nicer.

We stayed for four nights/five days and it was everything we needed. It was near local spots and everything you needed was a walk away. The bed was comfy and the shower was hot, that's all we wanted! We had a smoke alarm issue where the smoke alarm went off at random for five minutes straight, but the receptionist were quick to help us! Overall a comfy stay that I appreciated when the night fell.

This literally the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I never bother to review anything, but after staying here, I need to.
Heat didn't work, elevator didn't work, fan didn't work. Bed uncomfortable and had bed bugs!
Could barely see in room due to terrible lighting. Loud noises from street and other guests.
Don't stay here.

Very dissapointing in many aspects. First of all the daily rate was $180 which is extremely high for a hotel of this quality. That is why I assumed it would be a nice comfortable stay when I booked the 4 nights.
To begin, the building is very old and only has a very old elevator lift.
Upon entering the hotel room, it left me and my mom feeling nervous and anxious. The room was dingey and dark. The night stand appeared to be dirty. The bed was hard as a rock. There was also a dirty washcloth hanging above the shower rod.
The lack of cleanliness was enough reason for my mom and I to check out

The location is prime. We were able to walk (just a warning, it's about 3 very hilly miles) to Ghirardelli Square (home of the best Chocolate Brownie Sundae on the planet) and Fisherman's Wharf (great food, boat cruises, Madam Tussaud's & San Francisco Dungeon, among the attractions) which yielded us a very enjoyable day. It's also a nice walkable distance to the Westfield Mall. And seriously close, like about 2-3 blocks from a Trader Joe's which we frequented quite a lot. Our room was extremely small, but it had all we needed--our own bathroom, microwave and refrigerator

Good for people who just need the essentials. I stayed here for 2 nights with my partner and it offers great prices for those who just need a bed and a private bathroom.
On my visit, the staff was very friendly, efficient and accommodating. One of the biggest reasons I decided to stay here was because they allowed a complimentary 2 hour early check in (which was important for me because we wanted to drop our luggage off in the room).
The room itself isn't big, but that's ok because we planned to spend the whole day discovering the city. My room was as clean as it could have been.

This place was conveniently located and affordable. Transportation is nearby, tons of great coffee shops, a laundromat right downstairs, late night pizza available and a corner store. Convenience!!! Takes about 10-15 min to walk downtown. Felt like a safe area as well.
The staff seemed pleasant though I did not encounter them much. Walls are quite thin and lots of street noise! You pay for what you get so they don't do a major deep cleaning here. A good amount of dust sitting on top of stuff. A few questionable spots on the rug...bring house slippers!
I don't recommend this hotel for

Check in went quick and easy, the guy let us check in an hour early which was nice. The room was small and your typical 3 star hotel. It had the basic tv, clean bed, clean bathroom and the furniture was a bit old and outdated. We rarely spent time in the room it was more of a place to sleep and get ready.
Check out went great! The guy let's those that still want to roam around the city, leave their luggage in the office for a whole day! Now that left me very happy with the hotel service.
I recommended this place if you are looking for a cheap yet decent hotel to sleep and get ready at

A budget motel in an old building. Mmm, okay if you're being dropped off or using public transport. Not so okay if you're driving in from out of town. There is no loading/unloading area on the curb out front. And despite what the website says, there is NO GUEST PARKING at the hotel. You will need to park and pay extra ($25-35) at a private lot located 2-3 blocks away and I'd only recommend that if you're okay with schlepping all your luggage up and down the hilly sidewalks. Be aware there is NO STREET PARKING on Sutter from 4-6pm EVERYDAY. We saw cars getting towed.

First off this place is not worth what we paid for a nights stay even if your on a budget and need a place to crash and don't expect anything decent either. My concerns were there was no sort of room service for towels you have to go get them or wait till the maid cleans the next day.Windows don't have screens so you have to be careful with bugs and flys! The fridge had old ice that was turned brown from sitting there so long! The rug and decor in the hallway smells like dust and looks very tacky! The Elevator is really old!And most of all be careful of your guest cause these guys are Crooks

I paid an average of $149/night ($178/night with service fee and tax) for one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had! Why did I do such a stupid thing one might ask? Well, I needed a hotel room to attend a big conference in S.F., and prices for most hotels were higher than usual for that busy week. The Mithila Hotel was at least within walking distance of the convention center, and the price was low compared to many other hotels. Since I had already spent a little too much time researching hotels, I went ahead and booked a room at Mithila, despite its having a shared bathroom. I

I came to SF for a conference at the Moscone but since most places around Union Square are easily $175+/night, I turned to Mithila. Economical, old fashioned, and spartan but nevertheless, sufficient.
Pros:
+Walking distance from Union Square. It was a 20-25 min walk for me from here to Moscone, and all level or downhill.
+Price, absolutely. For Fri and Sat, a queen will be $85/night, and $80/night for Sunday. To get the cheapest rate, book directly through their website, not through other travel sites like Expedia.
+Mini fridge and microwave in the room. Perfect, bc though they serve a complimentary
