With more than 20 years of experience in the San Francisco real estate market, our Founder William Baner established BanCal Property Management in 1987. Tammy McNaught joined Baner in 1998, and went on to take the reins as president in 2008. The boutique real estate agency currently serves the greater San Francisco area, including rental communities and condominium associations in Pacific Heights, Soma, Marina and Russian Hill.

Hands down I have the best landlord in the city! Before moving here I had heard SOOO many horror stories about SF landlords. I was dreading what experiences awaited me in my first apartment in the city. But to my surprise, I have had the complete opposite experience when I found this apartment and had Tammy as my landlord.

Kelli Smith at BanCal was our property manager for 1.5 years and she was one of the BEST we have ever had! Whenever we had any issues with the apartment (such as maintenance with major appliances) she made sure to have someone come within 1-2 days. The unit was so well managed! Kelli provided EXCELLENT communication every step of the way, and we only went separate ways because we moved away. I would definitely recommend BanCal and Kelli specifically.

I'm surprised to see how much Tammy (Bancal Owner) cares to respond on review sites. She has never responded in the past 8 years to any of the below complaints either through text/phone or email.... lets see if she responds on Google Reviews? I bet 90% of the positive feedbacks are from people she's incentivized to leave a positive feedback (common practice in the corrupt property management world). Full disclosure: I have owned my condo in Pacific Heights since October of 2005 and Bancal has 'managed' it since April 1, 2011. In total, I have owned it for 16+ years and I have had to endure 10 years

Our 60-unit condo building sits on the edge of the TL, on a very active corner. Some management companies are not up for the challenge--I totally get it! I too am sometimes not up for it! As an HOA board member and president, I have worked with two other management companies, prior to BanCal, and there's no comparison. The crew at BanCal is speedy, sharp, and a pleasure to work with. I rented a beautiful apartment unit that was managed by Bancal. Kelli and David from Bancal were wonderful, kind and made sure my move in was easy smooth. Bancal has a good online system for rent payment and maintenance request submission that I appreciated. During my stay, any maintenance request I filed was promptly handled by professionals. When it was time to move out the team was really helpful and responsive. I wish them the very best.

I’m a tenant and I have locked myself out at a weekend. Kelli was my hero that night, she helped me to get back in my apartment. BanCal staff and their partners/vendors are extremely responsive and handle tenant requests quickly and professionally, even in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak. The property was very well-maintained. The online resident portal makes it easy to monitor payments, documents, and maintenance requests. I highly recommend them for a great rental experience in SF.
