The Porter is the best apartment complex I have lived at in the past few years. Staff are kind, responsive and helpful; the building and common areas are beautiful and clean; the location is convenient and safe (right next to downtown Del Ray and a trail that's great for running and biking); and the units are well-maintained and come with washer/dryers. Genuinely thought all apartment buildings in the area were going to come with issues until I moved here. A little expensive, but I love it.

I had to write a review as I cannot say enough good things about this amazing, hidden gem of a community. We moved to Alexandria from Chicago and had to choose an apartment based on online reviews and video tours and did not know what to expect given we were unfamiliar with the area. We looked around Crystal City/Arlington (Ballston/Clarendon area) and Alexandria and chose Porter Del Ray as it was the best value for money in a full amenity building. We moved into a 1 bed 1 den (floorplan A1FN) and was amazed at the amount of space it offered. I am not sure why the second room is called a den as

Enjoyed my experience at The Porter Del Ray - the apartment units are beautiful, with hardwood floors, the apartment itself is close to a lot of basic necessities as well as restaurants and coffee shops, the Potomac Yard Trail and tennis courts, and the leasing office was always kind and responsive to any issues. Resident events were also a nice plus.
During my time here, they also got rid of the policy that you must sign up for cable, which was a plus, because we basically never used it but still had to pay for it, even if the cable & internet bundle was initially a good deal.

The building has a very poor sound insulation! You can hear your upstairs neighbors walking(stomping), doing laundry, etc! Good luck if your upstairs neighbors have kids/dogs! When it's windy outside the windows rattle! Oh yeah, the building is surrounded by the train tracks (think freight trains), soccer fields, and two dog parks... There have been multiple instances of dogs loud barking as early as 6:30 am and soccer spectators screaming on weekends as early as 8 am! The property manager tried, but failed adequately resolve the noise issues. This is a shame that one of the most expensive residential

After living in three different apartment complexes during my five and a half years in Alexandria, I can honestly say that The Porter is the only apartment complex that has felt like home. Not only is the building top notch with high end features and finishes (hello gorgeous granite!), but the crew in the leasing office are invested in cultivating a community. The Porter Del Ray is terrific. The management staff is top-notch: Responsive, personable, and they bend over backwards to work with you on any challenges that might arise. They also do a great job of communicating to the community, as well as programming interesting and fun events (and in a safe manner due to COVID!). The property itself is beautiful. The pool is big and wonderful, the game room and the business center are really great and well-kept, and they do a great job of staying on top of keeping it clean, fresh and well-maintained. After years of bouncing around the East coast, a recent job offer brought us back to the District. My wife and I began looking for a great spot outside DC in the Northern VA area. We wanted something close to a metro, safe, quiet, close to grocery stores and a warm-community feel. We found that all at The Porter Del Ray! The lease and managing team here are incredible (shout out to Kenisha...she's awesome). They are courteous, professional and always there to help us when needed. We moved in and arrived at 4am (obviously the leasing office was closed), and they found a way to leave us our keys

I have just recently moved to the area and have been living at The Porter for a few months now. Since my first day, I have enjoyed everything they have to offer. The apartments are beautiful with great storage and the amenities/events for residents are the cherry on top.

The Porter Del Ray is beautiful. I have no complains. The ladies at the office are very nice and helpful and the maintenance team will help you as soon as you make a request (if you need anything). I love the pool, the big closets and the service of trash removal The Porter offers!! This place has everything I was looking for.

The Porter Del ray is one of my favorite places to live! The apartments are beautiful: wood flooring, large floor to ceiling windows, SS appliances, beautiful bathrooms!! I love the staff as well. The property is extremely clean—even with the amount of pets everywhere. The maintenance staff is very responsive as well (I’ve had minimal problems as the apartment is quite new but they come quickly anyways and are always very nice).
