Services
Standard King Rooms are rooms located on the second and third floors. They have views within the Hotel. Several of these rooms are adjoining rooms with King beds to rooms with two doubles, making a convenient stay for families. Located on the second floor, this is a large room with a Partial ocean view and street view.
Unless you have private yacht or plane, most people take ferry, from San Pedro, Long Beach or Dana Point (operated by Catalina Express) to Avalon Catalina. Schedules vary by the port and season. For those who like to travel in style, there's helicopter service, operated by IEX, from San Pedro, Long Beach and Orange country to Avalon, Catalina.

This hotel gets the job done. It's nothing too luxurious. It's clean, and there's someone who cleans it everyday (replaces the towel and soap), re-makes the bed, and cleans the floor and shower. The front desk gets you in and out. It was an easy check in and check out process.
I will say, their beds and pillows are super comfortable! Some of the best and deepest sleep I've had in years.

I can't speak for the rest of the hotel but if you are booking room 1, or booking without an assigned room be sure to avoid room 1. I would have been better off saving my $725 and sleeping in a tent.
First off, this room looks NOTHING like the updated rooms in the pictures. Complete expectation mismanagement. It's directly across from the lobby and at street level. Incredibly noisy, and the door does not close tightly enough to block any sound, if you stay here I hope you enjoy the sound of back firing golf carts.
I'm the room, everything is old, there's no space to move

What a beautiful quaint hotel. The grounds were gorgeous with tropical plants and an outdoor patio. Our room was tastefully decorated with antique looking furniture and exceptionally clean ; ) I'd highly recommend this place. PS they even give you beach towels at the front desk & it's within walking distance to everything!

Lovely hotel. Very nice owners and staff. We really enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Room was not large, but we were hardly in it. Bed was comfortable. Shower works well. Free WiFi in room. Great air conditioner. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Very clean! Walking distance to everything.

Nice enough hotel when your not planning on staying in your hotel room much. It was very conveniently located to the central hub of Catalina.
I Came in early on the Catalina express and asked for early check in. They charged us $10 an hour so I wasn't thrilled about that. I'm used to hotels just letting me come in an hour or so early if the rooms ready.
The bed was extremely loud.... enough said.
The water pressure left me wanting and there was a random pipe sticking out of the wall from the closed off bathroom to the outside sink. Just looked like there was patch work around

Location is hard to beat. Comfy bed in a small room packed with frigid blowing AC during the most extreme heat this summer was a plus. Read previous reviews about a continental breakfast but it was no more I guess. Woke up to call and ask about it via the 1980 elementary school attendance office phone and could barely hear the front desk speak but I was able to make out the word, "No". Asked about breakfast and or coffee. Nothing. Lots of steps in a nice Spanish style resort pushing the bare essentials that should be good enough. But for $250 a night, what establishment of this kind cannot

Booked this hotel for a birthday celebration however due to the coronavirus and mandatory shutdown, we're unable to attend. First of all, the small print indicated that my credit card would not be charged until check in but they charged it anyway. I contacted the hotel via email to ask for a refund. The hotel refuses to put me in contact with a manager or call me directly. All communication has been through email. The owner even refuses to provide their name. I have never been involved with a company so unprofessional, unhelpful, and unconcerned. This is not a company that looks at

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Mariquita in August 2019 (sorry for my delay in posting this review!) We booked the honeymoon suite for just one night on a Friday night, and felt fortunate that they didn't require a 2-night minimum or something. We loved that we could check our bags until the room was ready (our ferry arrived early -- something like 10am and the room wouldn't-- understandably -- be ready until 3pm at the height of tourist season). They let us check them again, until our ferry departed the following day (check out was at something like 11am and our ferry wasn't until

I booked my room well in advance, and then I had a situation come up that I wasn't going to be able to stay the night. I called the hotel 3 weeks in advance of the stay to explain my situation. The hotel staff was not very hospitable and didn't care, they refused any kind of refund. On a separate note, the hotel rooms are very expensive.

This hotel was booked by our client for us via booking.com. I don't really understand if it's booked and paid for online by another person ahead of time, why would they need them to be present for their credit card to be on file. I was more than willing to put my card on file. They were adamant about it and they actually had the clients number but didn't call the client . I would not call the client because it's her wedding day and she does not need this hassle.
However, despite the above issue, they were actually nice enough to honor the reservations without our client being

My wife and I stayed here one night recently. We ended up having a good stay while in town to celebrate a birthday.
Pros: Close to the town and water, we easily walked to it from the ferry docks. Slight hill on the last block, but not too bad. It was also only a block away from the local Vons, which was nice. We were able to store our luggage, both on the the day of arrival and the day of departure. We took advantage of the continental breakfast, and were satisfied with it. Our room seemed to be a fair price for what it was (went in September).
Cons: not the most comfortable pillows. And as

It's dirty.
I just can't get myself to stay at dirty hotels. Especially, because I don't know who has slept there and keep imagining all the creepy crawlies. I booked this hotel thinking how bad can it be? All of the other hotels in the area aren't exactly 5 star nor are they a 4.
They aren't really my cup of tea and we cancelled our reservation to book one after we looked a round for a bit.

This review is based on the customer service we received. I'm unable to leave a review for the suite that was booked because it was canceled without notice.
Note: upon arrival, we were advised that the 3rd and 4th floor are under construction due to remodeling.
We arrived on Monday 12/17/18 at 1:30 PM to check into our room. We were greeted by the worst front desk welcoming I've ever experienced.
Cindy, was short and smug when she stated that our reservation was canceled. We were baffled by this. We had booked our room Nov. 6th through a 3rd party reservation. Per Cindy, she ran the

We stayed in a king room with an ocean view for one night, and the entire experience was excellent. The room was a good size and clean with a big bathroom and nice balcony. We got to watch the sunrise over the ocean, but if you're not a morning person they do have nice thick curtain so you can sleep in.
The hotel staff were all super friendly. They let us store our luggage before and after check in. They also let me use their printer to print out my fishing license for the day. The lobby opens at 8am with coffee and snacks but they have an after hours number if you need anything.

Right next to the city museum and a short walk to the only grocery store on your way down to the coastal promenade.
There is an upstairs patio for moongazing. We were given the downstairs room, not much space but fitted 2 beds just fine. Noise level was fine except for some loudmouthed passerby who slumped down the bench at 3am.
Place is clean. Not too far from the busy areas.
Breakfast included.

Been to the island three times and stayed in different hotels each time. Honestly, I would have to say this hotel is the best one that I have stayed at.
I usually stay at large, established hotels, so I was slightly worried to be sleeping at a place that was not a Hilton or Embassy Suites. But upon seeing the room and interacting with guest services, I realized this was the perfect place to stay.
First off, the hotel is built similarly to maybe a Spanish or Mediterranean Pueblo, which kind of accentuated the island feel. There are two patios. One on the second floor and one on the third floor
