Trust the reviews. This place is a nightmare. I’m in the military so I called ahead to make sure everything was ready before I got there. They called me the day before check-in to tell me that the apartment wasn’t going to be ready until next week.
No one tried to help me and I didn’t get any of my money back… I’m just now reading the reviews and realizing ALL THE 5 STAR REVIEWS WERE FROM YEARS AGO!

The staff is rude and lazy, the apartments are made out of the cheapest materials possible, my apartment building was surrounded by police twice! And on more than one occasion I’ve woken up to gunshots. DO NOT RENT HERE!!! If I could give less then one star I would. Any positive review you read about this place is a lie!

They charge late fees like a cop trying to meet there monthly quota. Have paid well over 3,000 dollars in “fees” over the course of 2 years. Have been filing it all with proof as well, they charge me a “late” fee for having 10$ a month renters insurance and they say I HAVE TO have 20$ a month (which is illegal) see you tomorrow van Horne estates. Renters insurance is for me and my property, and discussed this with military lawyers as well as civilian.

Property Manager Lucia Magana and the leasing agent Breanna located at Van Horn Estates - 11611 Dyer St. El Paso, TX 79934's lack of customer service is the reason as to why I no longer wish to continue my application/move-in process. It becomes very personal when your personal information such as application details, credit information and income details are disclosed to the public. Also, when I asked Ms. Magana for further information regarding management to attempt to escalate the matter she issued me with a resident/prospect phone number and told me that she could not provide me with further

Critical: Professionalism
Pest control came in while my husband and I were gone on a two week trip and turned the AC on two days into our trip and left it on. I called to ask if they could not charge us as I KNOW we didn't leave it on but they said they couldn't prove it. I just think that's really unprofessional.

This complex does not need or deserve your business. I called on Monday to inquire about a two bedroom, asking to be sent photos. They said they would send them the very next day. It is Wednesday and I do not have photos. I am in the military and move around a lot, and I use these types experiences to measure their ability to serve their tenants. Here is what will happen now...the apartment will come back with some scripted response, as I can assure you they are always checking reviews because that is what matters most to apartments. So, please save your “I am so sorry to hear about this” response

Cheap place to live and outside the city which was great, also close to sgm gate. Its built next to a stank plant of some kind, so there's that. Mostly this place gets 1 star because they allow the pest control guys to steal from tenants. I had an item of significant value stolen by the pest control dude (AAA pest or something) who had access to my home. The manager is supposed to accompany him inside every apartment to spray and leave. The management at Van Horne obviously allowed this individual to grab the item from my living room and leave. It was reported stolen, but seeing as we are a stones

Recently moved out. This place may look pretty, but this is without a doubt the worst place I’ve ever lived, and I move around a lot. Walls are INCREDIBLY thin and the fire alarm for the building goes off at least once a month. They had my car towed while I was in the field. My rent went up $150 after my one year lease. And when I moved out, they tried charging me $2,500 for a small hole in the carpet. Legal on base was able to get them to drop it to $500. Van Horne Estates dropped it to that.. but 5 days later reported it to the credit bureaus and messed up my credit. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND

Due to covid my tour of the apartment was conducted with a mask on. After signing and beginning to move in with my mask off this time, as soon as I set foot in the apartment I was overpowered by urine smell. Turns out some of those discolored patches I was going to just throw a rug over in the dining area were cat urine. But all over the unit. I reached out to the manager, Frank, who had showed me the place that same day who said they would "get someone to check on it" after I filled out my move-in checklist. Which never showed up.
