Recently moved out of one of the Marvista properties, and I wish I could go back and tell myself not to do it. The house was not in good condition, but that's to be expected with an old place...but really, the issues were with the management. Our property manager changed at least three times in less than a year, and so any time they said "we'll just make not of it for when you move out" was a complete lie, as things were never recorded. Heck, they didn't even have an accurate record of when I moved in. I had to provide screenshots of emails because no one on the management

We were told that we were approved for the place. We were excited and affirmed that we wanted the place and would sign the lease. We emailed some questions about the lease and did not receive a reply. Then we get an email that our lease was removed. We ask what's going on and 6 hours later we get an email that they gave it to someone else that morning. I guess they just tell everyone that they got the place and whoever pays first gets it.

By far the best apartment and management company I have rented with in Pittsburgh! Management and maintenance are super responsive. Whenever I have a question or a minor maintenance request, I always get a response that same day. Also, whenever Jim comes over, he is fantastic with my two cats, who try to escape anytime the door opens!

I lived in a studio apartment with Marvista for one year. Within 48 hours of me living there, the roof had completely collapsed ontop of me while I was sleeping due to flooding from a toilet in the apartment above me. Marvista did absolutely nothing to help rectify this situation. I was kicked out of the apartment for months, and had to pay for my own stay at various hotels/airbnbs while they redid the repairs. I had to move all of my stuff into the tiny kitchen area, and upon my return, it was all disgustingly dirty from being in a construction area for months. They did nothing to help me either

Of all the places I’ve rented out over the years, the apparment I lived in for 3 years with Marvista was the nicest, and at a really good price. Jim from maintenance was always good at fixing any issue we had. The only issue I had was some lack of organization from them. We went through several property managers while renting from them.
All in all, it’s a good company to rent from. They gave us the majority of our security deposit back, and the last 6 months of renting were smoother since they had seemed to find a manager that kept them more organized.

I rented an apartment from them for one year. By far one of the best landlord companies out there. No problems during the time I stayed, and repairs were done timely. Even when I was moving out, they let me stay for an extra day, for free, because my new place's lease started a day later. This contrasts my new landlord, who told me I have to pay for an extra day if I want to move in a day early. Gives you perspective on how good and understanding Marvista rental is!!

Rented a pretty old apartment. Did a moderate job of maintenance. Not perfect, but no significant damage or anything like that. First of all, such old buildings need to be renovated, they just aren't healthy places to live in. However, in this case the real issue is predatory charging by the company. They claimed a $1300 cleaning fee after an initial walkthrough estimated $400. Considering that there was no outstanding damage and that the apartment is already very old and older materials deteriorate more easily it is already questionable whether we should owe $400. But $1300? Seems clear that they

Marvista Rentals is hands THE BEST apartment rental agency I've ever rented from in the Pittsburgh area. I've been a tenant for the past 2 years at two different locations and could not be happier. They are attentive, responsive and take pride in the quality of their properties. To start, they actually clean their units thoroughly before move in. Once a tenant, they communicate regularly and are extremely easy to reach via e-mail. Angela at Marvista typically responds to any question / concern within a day the e-mail was sent. Certainly shocked by the one star review on here. We have rented with Marvista in Squirrel Hill since August of 2016 and they are great. By far the best landlord I have rented from in the Pittsburgh area. Angela at Marvista is extremely responsive to inquiries and requests. Our building is beautifully renovated with high end finishes - they did not cut corners. Any request we submitted to Marvista was handled very quickly. We have loved our experience and would definitely recommend them to anyone.

In 2013, they took over the property in Squirrel Hill that I had rented from a prior landlord. There was water damage to my possessions in the basement storage from the 1st floor unit. They did nothing to repair it. The windows were super thin and let out tons of heat. They did nothing to insulate the unit. They raised rents and didn't improve service one bit. They are ruthless, profit-centered landlords that do not give a damn about their tenants. They tried to remove long standing tenants (10+ years) from the building that I was in as well. Avoid at all costs unless you want to have

Horrible experience. I mean the house was a great deal in squirrel hill so it was in a nice area....but that's as far as it goes. The house was falling apart, heater wouldn't work, old windows, door knob falling off. I mean we were calling the landlord every week.
But we'd only get ahold if him if his phone was on. I respect others religions, but when you're a landlord, you cannot just turn your phone off for every holiday you have. I eventually had to get him to give me a phone number of someone else to call.
