So far our experience with Union Lofts has been great! Fred has been a pleasure to work with as we've been going through our leasing process. Great communication and transparency, and never hesitates to pick up the phone and answer questions or solve problems at a moments notice.

We moved to Union Lofts a few months ago and have thus far, enjoy our residency here very much. Our experience with the leasing department in the beginning and now resident services and maintenance staff has been easy, friendly and prompt. Our neighbors are friendly and the overall the charm of living in a historic building in DTLA has been amazing.

Plenty could be said about changes that have occurred at the building and with staffing/etc., during the time since before the covid 19 pandemic until now. This review is not for that purpose. Things have changed. Leasing staff has changed. And things are different. But all in all, things are fine at the building and Onni management and staff have allowed living at Union Lofts a pleasant experience, otherwise there would be no lease renewal.

I have issues with accessing my unit due to someone sleeping in my front door bay area. I've talked to the ONNI concierge in person, & called the 24-Hour concierge to help me ask him to move. (I already asked him to move with no luck), and i've gotten no help from Union Lofts/ONNI at all. This area has tons of people that sleep on the ground, and they love to sleep in front of my door. This keeps me from entering and exiting my apartment.
Knowing this, I expect Union Lofts/ONNI to be more responsive, and maybe even place someone in charge of making sure all residents can enter their apartment

I made an appointment in early April 2021 to virtually tour the apartment. They did not make the appointment. I called that day to see what happened. The leasing agent offered to schedule and in-person tour the next day. I ended up standing outside the building for 20 minutes with no one answering their phones. I even called the Onni corporate office and left a voicemail explaining what happened. No one even bothered to call me back or apologize.

Those are great spacious apartments, but I had issues with receiving my deposit.
It is no news that the leasing office stops worrying about you when you're not a tenant anymore.
After the move-out inspection (with no damages, inspection form signed), I've been promised a final move-out statement which I've never received. I also never received my $500 deposit, so I thought well, maybe my final utilities and pro-rate days were covered by it, so I forgot about it.
Imagine my surprise when after almost 3 years I'm receiving a letter from collections, stating that I owe them money. They did not

The staff is amazing at this property!!! I recently moved in to Union Lofts, which is managed by Onni Group 825 south Hill staff, and it has been one of the most pleasant stress free experience getting moved and settled in to our new apartment. Every step went as planned and the Concierge team Izzy, Sam, Kyle, went above and beyond what I expected they were so helpful the day of the move. Bryanna Lambert was the leasing agent we worked with to help us find the perfect Unit. She was so informative and made it really fun to even be looking for a new place. While my apartment is beautiful and Bryanna is fantastic (you'll notice others saying the same) my last almost two years here have been disappointing. The removal of our 24 hr concierge and Security during the pandemic with crime skyrocketing in our area, is absolutely shameful. We need more security, not less. Certainly not zero. When I sent emails noting my concern, I was ignored. They're putting all the resources into another building they own, Level, instead. Our security, is over THERE now.

Got a tour of this place and fell in love with the location and the spacious well designed layouts. Staff had that personal touch and attention to detail. Jason was patient and knowledgeable, seemed to know all the details I asked for like he lived on the property. My kind of well managed urban lifestyle building!

Pros: Most tenants are friendly or at lease don't bother or cause trouble. The building has a lot of charm/character and history if you like that. It use to house the original Union Bank of CA headquarters (check out the 4th floor and vault). It is safe and location is central to e everything.

Union lofts is beautiful building with more than 100 years and an impeccable kept, with excellent location, surrounded by wonderful restaurants, bars and with a great team of professionals that are always there to help

What a gem, in the heart of DTLA. Union Lofts is quiet, comfortable, and its feels like home.
The overall experience was great which started from Tania. Bryanna is an absolute pleasure - She is very energetic and truly cares for her residents. She is always going the extra mile, in anything needed. Danny the new maintenance tech is amazing too - fixed my kitchen sink and left a wonderful note. Its great to have these 3 around. :)
UL offers an amazing security team, with 24/7 staff, whom are all extremely polite and always smiling! Views from the rooftop are priceless.

My wife and I lived here for 5 weeks before we asked to break our lease.
During that time, we experienced the most unpleasant living situations either of us has ever been in.
Building management is difficult to get a hold of, the maintenance team is understaffed, the AC units and appliances are old and cheap and break frequently.
The unit was clean on move-in, privacy shades promised to us before move-in were never installed.
The biggest two problems were that the bedrooms were directly over the trash rooms and right next to the trash chute. The building was clearly not properly converted from

I periodically get messages from potential tenants asking if things have changed or improved, so I thought I would post an update of my opinions as of September 2018.
The good: The valet parkers are excellent and very helpful. The location is getting better and better for shopping/dining, although the downside to the buzz is that there's also a LOT of construction in the area.
The bad: Security is not getting better. They briefly reinstated 24-hour security to stem the tide of thefts, but they recently (and without explanation) ended it again. They are putting the property managers

Despite having read a number of bad reviews, my wife and I decided to rent at Union Lofts because we knew the building was under new management and we fell in love with the history of the building.

Don’t judge a book by its pretty cover. This place appears nice but is nothing more than “lipstick on a pig!” 🐷 This is a very old building poorly kept with just a thin shell to cover up some very ugly warts. New management (Amber Paz and Lisa Mason) since May 2018 is even worse than the old (which I didn’t think was possible)! You should expect to have many maintenance requests and have them totally ignored. Trash chute breaks and management doesn’t fix it for months (resulting in tenants using the two elavators to transport large volumes of smelly trash up and down a dozen floors

The building Manager Naomi is unethical, biased, rude, and flat out incompetent. She's aggressive toward tenants, building staff and any concern by residents are dismissed. She's more concerned with her social calendar and attempting to stay thin, it's not working by the way, than keeping the property clean and running properly. The valet service is horrible, their staff if just as rude as Naomi. The valet should be free if residents are expected to deal with rundeness and disorganization. The front desk staff with exception of a couple have constant attitudes and don't provide "concierge" level

We’d like prospective residents, and even current residents, to be aware of a theft that took place and to realize that their packages being left at their doors will not be secure.
This building had 24-hour security up until 10/12/2017. The following week, on 10/17/2017, two packages were stolen from outside our apartment door around 4 p.m. The packages were out to be picked up by UPS, which is something we’ve done without incident for the past 4.5 years. The items stolen had a total value of $635.00, so a police report was filed and we requested security footage from

Lived in unit 710 for a year; as soon as my lease was up I couldn't move out fast enough. That place was a joke.
My unit was visually nice (although over priced and infested with mosquitos in the summer), the door men were great, the roof is just OK, but the manager was ridiculously bad at her job and uncomfortable to deal with.
She lies and cheats, she's terrible to the staff, she's "inappropriate" with some of the tenants...
I notice there are many vacancies at UL now, building used to be full; I'm not surprised. The way this building is locally and regionally managed has obviously not gone

I lived here for 4 years, the building is really nice, the residents are good people, very pleasant and have a nice sense of community. The staff are awsome with the exception of the management, the management is horrible. EVERYONE in the building hates the manager, and i mean everyone... to the point she moved her office out of the building and down the street. Have you ever heard of a leasing office not being located in the actual apartment building?
