Laura made the application and move-in process so simple, which in my case - moving from New York to attend Duke - had to be done entirely online. Laura answered all of my emails and we talked on the phone frequently.
Laura even checked in on me as my partner and I drove down. When we arrived, we were relieved to find Laura's warm smiling face and clean, well kept grounds and shared spaces.
Laura made it a priority that we check over everything in the apartment and promptly placed work orders.
I can't speak for the corporate owners or corporate policies (I'll learn more about that in the coming

Perfect place to stay if you're a student/work at Duke University Hospital!
It's unfortunate that Clairmont at Hillandale has some negative reviews because I had nothing short of a great experience living here. It's the perfect place for Duke students or those working at DUH since it's about a 6-10 minute drive to campus. I lived here for two years while going to school and hospital rotations and felt like it was the perfect choice.
Pros:
- The apartments are quite large and priced well for the space and amenities you receive. I lived in a two bedroom apartment that faced some trees and had

I've lived here several years so feel free to ask me anything about this property.

First, the maintenance and grounds crew are fantastic, friendly and thorough - definitely a plus over home ownership. The swimming pool is nice sized and a nice place to see neighbors although it's not always that clean. Location is pretty good - 5-10 minutes from anything you would need (as long as you choose an apartment that is not near the highway).

But here's the thing: I would no longer recommend this complex.

The management doesn't care about keeping you happy at all once you sign

I've been living in the Clairmont at Hillandale Apartment Homes for almost four years now and I must say that the quick attention to every one of my maintenance requests has been phenomenal. Every member of the maintenance crew and office staff are totally warm, friendly, and customer-service oriented. They pay attention to the small details, which I find so important during these trying days. I highly recommend living at Clairmont at Hillandale!

My apartment is extremely noisy due to being about 100 ft. away from the highway. The noise is continuous throughout the entire day and night making sleeping difficult. This characteristic of the apartment was never communicated even though I clearly stated that my work requires for me to sleep during the day. I was only walked through the front of the complex. I was asked to sign my lease before moving in, and once I actually got to the premise and I indicate that the noise level would be a problem. I asked if I can move into an available apartment near the front? They stated only if you pay 500

My rating is purely about their apartment leasing process. I recently applied for a 2 bedroom apartment (B1) at this complex. I liked the place mostly due to the location near Duke medical center, where I work since 2012. They took a week to process the application, only to deny in the end. I make more than 4 times the rent and have excellent credit history. I also provided evidence of 2 more years of job offer at Duke. The denied only because my H1B VISA extension process is in progress and not approved yet! It feels strange as I can work at Duke and renew my D/L during the H1B approval process

Am I the only one who sees these Giant Roaches on the property and in my apt? Not all of the residents are from this part of the states where these huge Cockroaches are over looked. This is a deal breaker. I called to have this issue resolved. However when I come home at night, I am greeted by these Huge crawlers. I am terrified of them. They are seen in my bedroom as well. Deal breaker.

I truly enjoyed my stay here. I lived here for a year and if not for the need to move I would have stayed. Background on me: I am a resident physician at Duke but I also have to work at Central Regional in Butner. Pros: the location is great for my work. It is about 10 min from Duke/VA and is very conveniently located next to 85 for my drive to Butner. It is also really good in terms of pricing - one of the more reasonably priced apartment complexes in Durham. It is close to many good restaurants and not too far from 9th street or downtown (walking distance to an amazing dim sum place). Cons: my

The complex is great! The neighbors and everyone are very friendly and respectable of everyone's space. However, I wish I could say that all of the leasing agents were just as friendly. I've been told by people in the complex that there is one in particular agent that is just hard to get along with and does not give off the inviting environment that clairmont strives for. She does a horrible job of representing the fun, warm, and welcoming environment that the other agents as the complex gives off. Upon walking into the office it will be readily apparent which agent is clearly the least

During our 12-month stay at Clairmont we had a fantastic experience - the local management in the front office was extremely friendly and helpful, the maintenance guys were always really nice and quick to fix issues and keep the place looking good, and the facilities were really nice.

However, after moving out we were blindsided by a $900 bill for replacing carpet and padding in the entire apartment. When we inquired about the reason for the replacement, we were directed to the corporate office, Kotarides. The paralegal we spoke with was extremely rude and unprofessional and refused to allow
