Here at Muir Oaks Veterinary Hospital, we are pleased to have a large amount of veterinary services available for our patients. Muir Oaks Veterinary Hospital has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 2002, and we continue to meet their rigorous standards upon each re-evaluation. AAHA is the only organization that accredits veterinary hospitals and holds them to the highest standards. What makes us unique is that only about 12-15% of veterinary hospitals have attained accreditation within the US and Canada.
Muir Oaks Veterinary Hospital has been caring for our pets since 1992. The same caring attitude is displayed with our German Shepherd puppy as it was with our terminally ill 13 year old sheepdog. We board our pups with Muir Oaks Vet also. Their follow-up on tests/issues is ALWAYS timely. They take extra time to make us comfortable with what is being prescribed for our furry friends.

Only vet in a 10 mil radius that called back thank you. Chrystal. After arriving the staff was very friendly and welcoming I felt like I belonged. The service was like a concierge world class service. Very clean, and on top of their game. I highly recommend Muir Oaks Vet. I only bring my pets here when it's time to put them down. And after being put on hold 4x I made an apt elsewhere for that now too...1st call I called I was put on hold for over 6 min then they pick up like they are answering for the first time and they say can you hold. I say I've Ben on hold they say sorry hold please. I wait then hang up. Later I call back same fn thing. Unbelievable. Do they realize everytime someone hangs up they loose buis This is the most dysfunctional vet . The horror stories coming from this place over the years. The crazy lady vet. Went to this vet for the first time after not being able to find a vet in the area we liked. We continued to take our pup to San Jose to the only vet we trusted but no more!!! They were not afraid of my pitbull copper and were absolutely amazing. Didn't push to sell anything and only explained products and why they may or may not be better than what were using. Love the fact they have an online pharmacy. This is definitely our pups new doctor

My son's beloved greyhound, April, was hours away from passing (or so it appeared to me). Her usually slim belly was bulging out both sides with what turned out to be an 8.25 lb massive tumor that took up 90% of her abdominal cavity. She wasn't eating, since her stomach was getting squished. Her usual high-spirited, fun-loving, happy self could barely move. Her muscular legs looked slack. She had lost so much weight, her bones were sticking out. The mass had grown within weeks!
Thank God for Drs. Herder and Jimison and their staff. As April's grandmum, I got to know them during pre- and post-surgery

Great office and staff! Dr Jimison takes a lot of extra time to discuss whatever you need, and is very knowledgeable.
Jonathan is super friendly and helpful. Kayla at the front desk is new but is so willing to figure everything out to help as much as she can. I called to get some flea meds for my dog and cats, so I could run by and pick them up. She pushed the RX thru quickly and I was able to go by and grab them about 20 minutes later.
I recommend this vet! My dog always loves going to see them!

Dr. Jimison is wonderful, as is Dr. Herder. You can see and feel the love they have for animals. Dr. Jimison's gentle approach with pets is refreshing and Dr. Herder's passion for her patients is inspiring. I have seen them both in action and fully trust their abilities and knowledge. Muir Oaks is a beautiful facility and I think that being AAHA accredited is amazing as well. The level of patient care is excellent. I highly recommend!

Our dog became ill and we could not get appointments with our vet or emergency clinics. Initially Muir Oaks advised Dr. was in surgery all day but when I explained situation they graciously requested we bring her in & they would work it out. Dr called & advised what tests he felt necessary, then again for initial results. A few hours later he… called again to give us a diagnosis and options for treatment plans. Unfortunately our sweet dog was so ill that we had to make the difficult decision to let her go. They allowed us to come in and spend time with her and then of course be with

I have been taking my cats to Dr Melody Herder for over 25 years. She is incredibly knowledgeable - yet consults specialists when needed - and very caring. She explains issues well including options for diagnostic work & treatment. Even during this strange pandemic time when we cannot go inside with our pets, the staff is doing a great job with drop offs & pick ups and communication.

Initially I brought my sick Tabby cat here in October 2020- she was very sick and Dr Herder urged us to bring her ASAP. Sadly, my sweet girl passed away. Not due to anything caused by this hospital; but Dr Herder took GREAT CARE and so much time to explain what she felt went sour with my babe, even as I cried hysterically over the phone. I still appreciate all of her efforts to THIS day, a month after my cat passed she sent a very sweet card and a packet of seedlings to plant “forget me not” flowers in my garden. I'm very satisfied with Morgan's veterinarian care and the staff is very nice. My only complaint is that the last two times I paid for grooming to get fur mats out of his fur, when I got him home I found that mats were still there and I had to take him back. It happened twice in a row.

My dog had an impacted tooth, and I'd been given a very high quote from my regular dentist. I asked Dr. Herder for an alternative quote, which was much more reasonable. They removed the tooth and abscess, and another tooth that was problematic, treated her really well, and provided outstanding service. I have now switched to Muir Oaks as my standard veterinary office. Thoroughly recommended!

I love the communication I have with the vets concerning my dog. They are very good in dealing with my concerns and answer back within the day. They even sometimes tell me I should wait and see before making an appointment. In fact my dog had an allergy to flea bites for yrs and I would give her medication for it but I didn't know the drops on the neck were not sufficient until I came to this vet! He convinced me to switch and in the end her hair grew back on her tail and never had an issue since! I went to two different vets with this issue and nothing! In fact they gave me meds to solve

I've seen the reviews posted here. Personally I don't agree, I've taken my pup here for all of his shots and health checks since he was a puppy. By far the service and quality has been superior to the comps in the area. I see Dr. Knowles, she's very knowledgeable and friendly!
The staff at the front desk is amazing, and I personally wouldn't go anywhere else. They're reasonably priced giving you an estimate up front from a "low end to high end" which most places do not. Very thankful.

My dog was not doing well and I could not find any other vet in Martinez to take him and due to the severity of my dog's condition Muir Oaks took him in quicker than Sage. I would like to thank Veterinarian David Jimison and his nurses and even secretary's for their work and generosity. Unfortunately my dog past away and Muir Oaks did a great job bringing him back to life to have a extra day to spend with me. Thanks for everything Muir Oaks.

I have been going to Muir Oaks since I rescued my first fur baby back in 2012. They were highly recommended to me by a long time client. They have always been very kind, welcoming and accommodating to me over the years.
Most recently I rescued another furry love, a chihuahua whose family turned her in after 10 years old with breast and lung masses. After almost a year and a half of a thriving life I had to have her put down suddenly and they were beyond words amazing for me. They let me stay for hours with her as I cried and held her little body before she slipped away. They were more than compassionate

I've been bringing all of our pets here since 2002 and have never been dissatisfied with the service. Dr. Herder and the other veterinarians are fantastic, always taking the very best care of my pets. Dr. Herder goes above and beyond for her patients. She works harder than anyone I've ever seen, rarely taking time off and even making phone calls or… writing emails in the evening to her patients to discuss ongoing medical problems and concerns. She gives recommendations for tests and medications, but never pressures me to pay for things I can't afford or don't feel is necessary. I trust her

I've always been happy with the doctors and staff and I like the extended hours and days. When they had a groomer, I had a long haired cat that required regular baths and cuts and I was glad to have that work done near my vet just in case. The boarding facility was very helpful when I took in a kitty in 2016 and couldn't bring her into the house… with our other cats until she was checked out and cared for. I'm continuing to work with the doctors and staff to get my Rosey Posey healthy. I was able to get her kennel baths to clean her up. Many thanks.

We've been taking our dogs to Muir Oaks for medical and boarding care since 2006 and have had very thorough and professional service. Fairly recently, they have added an email component so many questions can be answered without having to make an appointment.
