I am in love with multiple streams of yoga, philosophy, psychology and movement. I practiced Iyengar yoga beginning at age 16 with many wonderful teachers of that method, and this practice transformed an anxiety-ridden teenager into a functioning adult! From 1992 to 2012 I studied Anusara yoga and Tantric philosophy.

I was in town in Seattle from Atlanta for the purpose of running the Rock N Roll Half Marathon. I ran in the morning and by the afternoon I was in major need of a restorative yoga class. I searched around and found two studios that had a restorative class available. I chose Seattle Yoga Arts because it also offered Healing Touch. This was exactly what I needed.

They had an offer for 3 classes for $30 for new students but since this was the only class I was going to have time to go to 1 class, I paid $22 for a drop in. I took class with Nicole leading and everything about it was wonderful. I didn

I've taken a variety of classes here with several different teachers from the candlelight restorative to the essential series and have always left in full on blissed out mode. The Saturday classes can be quite popular so arrive early. The monthly sound baths are a potential dose of tranquility.

The customer service could be better. My mom purchased a class pack and couldn't finish it (personal reasons). I asked the manager to allow me to use the final class paid for and she just wasn't flexible. I'll be going to other studios in the neighborhood now.

I checked online and their schedule said it was all levels and I looked up what the all levels class was like. I show up and I guess they changed teachers and did a restorative, which they didn't mention. I realized like 30 mins into the class because no one mentioned it, and told the front desk. She said she had no idea it changed but still made me pay for the class I left as soon as I realized it wasn't what they said it was....terrible service!

This yoga studio is exactly the type that I love. I'm so glad it exists. The teachers all have a depth of understanding of the philosophy and practice of yoga. There's a certain maturity and authenticity that shines through. It's not hot or go, go, go like a lot of fad/newer yoga studios. Safety of the body, alignment, current best practice in terms of physiology and science of stretching is combined with thoughtful themes in yoga philosophy. Down-to-earth vibes, beautiful high ceiling studio that isn't too packed, though it is busy at times. Just enough to feel the support

A yoga place for the rest of us. I'm so tired of yoga studios ran by 20somethings who really don't adjust or make yoga approachable for all. This place is warm, welcoming and I have never met staff as eager to help and come up with accommodations for age, size, or energy. They even have a class for trauma survivors.

Did a yoga class here with my sister and sister in law back in January and absolutely loved it! It was actually my first yoga class ever! The teacher and atmosphere were so lovely it inspired my personal yoga journey to begin! I plan to return and bring my mother on my next visit home to Seattle!

I *love* this studio.

Hard to believe I've been going to Seattle Yoga Arts for over three years now. This review is long overdue.

What can I say? I love this studio, so much so that, in addition to going to a class or two almost every week (and sometimes more than that), I've taken several workshops and just finished their 200-hour teacher training!

From their site:

"Our classes flow, but not too fast. The room is warm, but not too hot. We emphasize alignment, but not without losing the flow. Just right."

Exactly this. I love that nearly every class includes a breathwork

If I could give Seattle Yoga Arts 10 stars I would. In my opinion, this school is the heart of yoga in the Pacific Northwest. Denise Benitez brings a depth to the teaching that is unparalleled. Her knowledge of the history of yoga coupled with an understanding of its meaning in our modern context, along with a seasoned knowledge base and application of anatomy and movement, is refreshing, it is powerful, and has had a deep and lasting impact on my life. I began at SYA in 1999 and eventually took the Yoga Teacher Training in 2014. Every experience, every teacher, and every single class I have encountered

Great place to relax and get your flexibility game on!

Came here with my sis and her friend who had tickets for guests. I stepped in and they had all supplies for you, cubbies to place your jacket and shoes, water, mats, rope and towels! The imstructor was a lady. You could tell she cared about her students, took the time to explain and demonstrate the movement. She was engaging but at a good amount so as not too disturb (over talk) your practice!

This is a review on the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program with Seattle Yoga Arts.

I highly recommend yoga teacher training through SYA to practitioners searching for a training that guides a whole-life transformation. This was my experience.

I chose SYA for two primary reasons:
1) The depth and quality of experience of the instructors
2) The length of the program

Depth and quality of instructor experience
The SYA program is lead by Denise Benitez, who has 25+ years experience practicing and leading yoga in Seattle. She values a community-based model that encourages consistency through series

This is such a beautiful studio. That's the reason why most people probably comments that it's packed. I wish all studios were like this. Usually they are stark white and look a little bit like a commercialized mental asylum room (harsh, but it's the best way to describe the bleek atmosphere of most places I've been)! But THIS place is painted the color of monk's robes on the inside and have splashes of color hanging from the ceiling. They also have an alter (at least in the main large first room), which feels "legit."

I feel like Yoga studios in Seattle are

SYA is a super special place that to me is all about finding -- and remembering how to find -- a feeling of wholeness, even if you're walking in off the street from a stressful, sad day. I came to this studio in 2010 with very little yoga experience, looking for help getting in shape and calming anxiety. My experience truly changed my life, and although I'm the last person to claim that I have it all figured out, I credit SYA with putting me on a path of greater emotional and physical wellness.

The teachers here have made huge personal investments in their education and practice, and

You really have to be comfortable in a very packed environment in order for this to be a place you find your bliss. There was no space in between mats at our Sunday morning class whatsoever. During Shavasana I found myself touching my husband by sheer accident. During straddle stretch, you're sure to need to readjust to avoid some awkward positioning. They ran out of tennis balls to pass out to the class (foot work). Here's the deal: if you don't have enough props to accommodate the amount of people sardined into your practice space, maybe you should start turning people away or

This is my favorite place for yoga, I've been going there for several months, I've however moved from Seattle and I feel so sorry that I can't go there anymore!
The teachers really take care of you and the place is really welcoming.
It is NOT hot yoga, but even if you're into hot yoga I'd suggest you give it a try.

At the beginning of the class
- you say hi to your mat neighbors,
- the teacher then starts with a little reflexion (on life or something that she's been meditating on) that sets the theme or intention of the class,
Then there is a mantra that everyone

Seattle Yoga Arts has provided me a transformational healing experience. The teachers are kind, genuine, attuned and intelligent.

I took Bianca's healing for anxiety and depression series. She was wonderfully attuned and respectful of our privacy while gently inviting us to engage. I would highly recommend for anyone struggling with these issues.

I always leave Seattle Yoga Arts feeling much better then when I arrived.

This place is wonderful!

Oh Seattle Yoga Arts, how I love thee...

First, if you want hot yoga, stop reading this now. I love this studio from the bottom of my heart because it hasn't been overrun by Capitol Hill hipsters looking for the next newest thing in yoga. It is a pure and simple down to earth healing studio, where you are as likely to practice next to a hipster as you are a grandma. Seriously. until just a few years ago Denise's mom used to come to her classes (and she is in her 80s!) Denise is wonderful. Her classes are soulful, relaxing, challenging and supportive. And yes, there is some introducing

It seems like every studio nowadays is a heated power yoga studio...Seattle Yoga Arts is not. This is a nice change, actually. I had a class recently with Denise, and the adjustments from Denise and her assistant were very educational, and kept my body safe and sound. Advice this time around was about the ayurvedic humors, and was both educational and funny.

The yoga studio itself is very pretty, tastefully decorated in warm colors, and is very large - which is great, because the classes are extremely well-attended!

I will certainly be back to experience other teachers, as this is a convenient
