I just moved into this Community at Bren Mar and so far it's been good. The place and grounds are clean. The staff is friendly and all know me by name. The area is quiet and not that busy, the only action I saw that caught my attention is the activity at the near by Elementary school. The parking is ok but between 4pm and 430pm near one of the buildings, you can’t get a parking space because the parents use the apartments parking lot to park and wait for their kids to get off from the school.

I toured here a couple of weeks ago with my mom and I just have to show credit where it’s due. I have been to a lot of places recently and I just have to say that KINDNESS matters. Some places seemed to check all the boxes my mom needs and we got all excited to look at the apt but the staff ruined it. They made us feel out of place. It was like we were bothering them by being there. We had to leave without even viewing some places because I just couldn’t stand feeling so slighted. When we went to Bren mar I IMMEDIATELY felt comfortable and I felt that kindness!! It really makes a difference

My husband and I lived in the Bren Mar Apartments for almost two and a half years and you could not pay us to come back. While the location of the complex sits in a quiet corner within the beltway, that is pretty much one of the only things that they have going for them. The walls are pretty thin and the noise level is exacerbated by tenants who continue to blast music for hours on end, despite complaints being issued against them by multiple residents. I visited my son here on multiple occasions and hated the fact that he had to live there. Not only were the walls paper thin within the apartment, but you could also hear his neighbors clear as day. On top of that, the maintenance issues were nonstop for him. I remember when I first visited him his heat was blowing cold. I inquired why it wasn’t fixed yet and he said ”they didn’t believe me at first”. They eventually got him a new heating unit, but he still had to sit in a cold apartment for some time. My boyfriend lived here so I spent quite some time at Bren Mar. Let me start off by saying I am so happy he doesn’t live here anymore. Whenever there was a problem, which was frequently, it was always an incredible headache for him dealing with property management and above property management. If most people acted as unprofessionally as the property manager and assistant property manager, they would be fired, however at Bren Mar there is little accountability.

Moving into Bren Mar Apartments was a great decision! The management staff are always helpful, responsive, and there for your every need. The management team truly makes sure that your needs are met. The complex is well kept and clean. So far, I truly love it here! Lots of nice windows and very clean and updated. I would highly recommend Bren Mar Apartments!

Horrible place to live, extremely deceptive. There's barely any parking. When we moved in, we were told we can rent a space so it's just ours. After signing the lease, we asked to rent a space, and were told that they actually just counted and have decided that in fact they won't rent us a space, because then there's less free parking. Argued that for a bit, finally was told we could. Told we could pick a spot, we did. They charged us for a month, but didn't paint it (to differentiate from free parking). I've read some of the bad reviews, and I'm just not seeing what they're seeing. I moved in a little over a month ago, and I'm really enjoying it. Below I address some of the issues past tenants have addressed as well as some things you might find helpful.
Pests: Nonexistent. Maintenance just came by for their regular pest check.
Thin walls: Sure, but most of the apartments around here have thin walls for this price range. I usually have the tv or some music on so I don't hear much. The kids though...some of them are screamers. FYI - If you hate thin walls, don&apos

If I could give zero stars I would. Bren mar apartments is awful. They are extremely deceptive when it comes to giving you information, they give you false information. If you have to live at these apartments make sure everything is in writing. Communication is awful as well as the leasing representatives if you have a choice don't live here and don't trust a word he says. I caught him in lie after lie. They told me to wait 45 days to receive my security deposit based on Va law, I did and on day 48 I contacted them and they told me that they mailed it out over a month ago and that if

Love the apartment but the management team is sicks I move out more than 2 months but they don't wanna gave me back my security deposit now they don't Answer my calls or emails if you wanna live there is a good places but the management team is not so good. I've lived at Bren Mar for 2.5 years. While there are some things that occasionally annoy me, I'm very happy. I will say a couple of things:
1.) I have absolutely no respect for the corporate management of the property
2.) The Office and maintenance staff have been almost without exception wonderful since I moved here
3.) The walls are thin. I live on the top floor, and I wouldn't have moved here otherwise. I don't honestly know what the noise level is in most apartments, but I suspect it's fairly thin walls. But my place is wonderful
4.) There are lots of families here

We just moved in a couple of days ago, and, so far, so good. Matthew has been amazing in getting us squared away, since we had a fairly short notice move out here from California. Nothing beats of peace of mind when you're looking for a new home across the country.
The apartment buildings are set up like condos with a secure door leading into each building, and some pretty heavy duty locks on each apartment door. With a baby on the way, security is very important to us.
Also, German Shepherds are allowed here! Finding a place that lets my puppy love in has been quite the struggle.

Living at Bren Mar has been a great experience for me. The new management is friendly, accessible and, most importantly, extremely attentive. The on-site maintenance staff are also great. Really friendly people and always available when I need them. I have no complaints. The property is a convenient location, it's affordable, and all the apartments I have seen are in great shape. I will be renewing my lease for sure.

I've lived at Bren Mar for over a year, and have just renewed my lease for another 15 months. When I moved in, the property was managed by different staff. If those individuals were still managing the property, I would not be renewing my lease. However, the property has changed completely due to the change in management. Recently, I experienced many issues due to noisy neighbors. The management bent over backwards to help me deal with that issue, and continuously check in with me to make sure I'm still satisfied. One of the better places to live, and the rent makes this place a steal! Apartments are clean, comfortable, quiet, and convenient. One of the best features, however, has been management. Since my move in (August 2014), management has been very attentive and responsive. Any of the issues or concerns, which have been minor, are handled immediately and effeciently. They go above and beyond to make sure residents are comfortable. They also do a wonderful job in keeping residents informed with improvements/projects throughout the community.
