Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision-many of which do not always have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses, both as eyeglass lenses and contact lenses.
From eye exams and contact lens fittings, to laser vision correction, our optometrists provide comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages. We also treat a range of conditions such as "pink-eye", the diabetic eye, dry eye and macular degeneration. The GP lenses for ortho-k are applied at bedtime and worn overnight. While you sleep, the lenses gently reshape the front surface of your eye (the cornea) to correct your vision, so you can see clearly without glasses or contact lenses when you're awake. The effect is temporary - generally enough to get you through a day or two - so you must wear the reshaping lenses each night to maintain good vision during the day.

Really professional, detail-oriented, and thorough in eye exams, selecting glasses and contact lenses brands, fitting contacts. I mean, really thorough. If you've ever gone home with migraines from new glasses, you'll know what I mean. (That happened to me twice from two different top optometrists in central London, UK, by the way. I have been seeing Dr. Patrick Harrison for--gosh--16 years now? Is that possible? Anyway, he's great. Very caring demeanor and knows his stuff. The office is always neat and clean, too, and staff is pleasant. I've moved, and I still drive way the heck across Austin when I need my eye exam! I highly recommend him.

Extremely friendly staff and very helpful particularly with the current covid crisis going on. Everyone is extremely friendly and knowledgeable while helping my father get a thorough examination and new eye exam. Good selection of frames from name brands to cheaper ones. Unless something unforeseen happens I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is in need of eye glasses.

I had to give another review because I noticed that my pair of Ferragamo glasses had a manufacturer's defect where the logo on the side was upside-down.
I came in and let them know, and they got a brand new replacement for me within 2 days! Service was impeccable as they even compensated me for my troubles.
Highly recommend anyone to come here as they seem to be concise and efficient!

At first I was hesitant about calling an actual Eye Doctors office, but when my glasses just couldn't take being half on/half off my face any longer and I got fed up enough I decided I'd try to see if somewhere like Balcones Eyecare could help me to take care of the issue quickly (yelp didn't give me many options for places that specialized in Eyeglass Repair and didn't want to drive far).

Loved the doctor and the drs assistant. Friendly enough. The doctor was very funny.
***The rep that helps show you glasses and the added glass features was very put out she had to help us. She was not friendly or nice was just very matter of fact. If you are a subject matter expert your information during this time is very helpful. She did not ad any value to our visit. The lack of smile on her face and friendliness made the visit a solid 3 only because of the doctor. Her customer service was very lack luster ! Lesson learned this will be the last time I use them - stinks cause the

I just stopped in on my lunch break as I am wanting to get a second pair of eye glasses and work close by. I already have a prescription so I did not see any of the doctors, so this is just a review on the staff. One lady, an older woman sitting down at the counter, brunette, weathered face (no name tags, that I could see, so no clue who she was) was so incredibly rude. I did not get a hello or anything and when I asked a question about frames she rolled her eyes at me and sighed when she gave me an answer. I went to Balcones Eyecare and was beyond happy with my experience! Let me begin by saying that I have not had an eye exam before and was unaware of how everything worked, in terms of insurance. Firstly, when I made the appointment Theresa not only helped me get the day and time I needed but also informed me of my insurance benefits!! The office staff was friendly and welcoming when I arrived and got me started BEFORE my scheduled time!! From the front office staff to the techs I was just amazed at how nice everyone was. If you're a new patient looking for an eye doctor, I would recommend going somewhere else. This place will take your money knowing they are not able to provide the services your need & without clearly explaining what services they offer.
I found them online listed as an in network provider with my vision insurance. Spoke with a rep named Amanda to schedule an appointment, explained my situation and she asked for my medical insurance information.

UPDATE! Dr. Patrick reached out to me a few months after I posted this review to sincerely apologize. He said he and his staff take these reviews seriously and they made adjustments to their service practice. I'm remiss in not seeing his response until now, years later, in my Yelp inbox. I have NEVER been treated so poorly as a customer in my entire life. I just purchased $850+ glasses (frames and lenses) from Balcones Eyecare two weeks ago. I had only had my new glasses for two weeks when I was assaulted at my job (I work in law enforcement). I needed help. I called Balcones, told them the situation, they told me to bring them into the office and they could see if they could adjust my new glasses and if not, submit them for warranty since I had only had them for two weeks. I was compelled to write this review. I initially scheduled an appointment with another eye doctor before I found Dr. Hammond. The other eye place never sent me an email, text or phone call to remind me of my appointment and I totally lost track and didn't make the appointment. I moved recently and lost my glasses in the process. I called to re-order the glasses I already had and I was told they were re-ordered and I'd get a call in a few days to tell me they were ready. A week and a half later I had no word from them so I called to check up... The rudest lady told me not only were my glasses not re-ordered but also that the line of glasses I had was discontinued and that I would have to pay first then go through the whole process of picking out new glasses. She did not say sorry, she was not remorseful and she was literally

The staff at Balcones Eyecare is always very helpful with adjustments, etc. to my glasses. They actually volunteer to do things (like replace lens) that cause them additional work but increase my satisfaction. Dr Yi-Ming Harrison is great too, but I only see her once per year :-)
