Foremost we acknowledge that we are inhabitants of stolen land that did not belong to us, whether our ancestors immigrated to Turtle Island (North America) or were stolen and brought here. We acknowledge for healing to take place, we must begin by telling the truth and sharing a common memory.
Our studio is positioned on the land of Kusso Indigenous people and we are grateful for their stewardship of this land and its eco systems that we are interconnected with.We commit to honoring the land and their presence. We also acknowledge the nuance and complicity of inhabiting land that does not belong to us and many of us being descendants of people that were stolen and brought here enslaved and against their own free will.

Transformation Yoga is a guiding community of leaders located on Kusso land in what is now Charleston, South Carolina. We are individuals traveling journeys of liberation and healing. We envision a world where we witness people in the intersection of their identities and stack for equity until all beings are free.
We utilize a framework of anti-racism and anti-oppression in our offerings but unless specifically stated, everyone from all lived experiences are welcomed, we just center the lived Black experience. Short answer, no. When we honor the roots and history of yoga, we have to acknowledge many of us in the Western society of America would have never experienced it without it being colonized and taken from Black and brown cultures.
We are honored to be in relationship with so many organizations making collective impact for our future, here are a few below. Fresh Future Farm is a local Charleston non-profit located on Kusso land in the Cherokee/Chicora neighborhood of North Charleston. Fresh Future Farm leverages unused city assets to create food and job opportunities that will transform the current food desert into a more self-reliant and robust community.

I attended a virtual workshop with Transformation Yoga and really enjoyed it! The content was so helpful and I walked away learning a lot. The studio communicated clearly and I felt prepared for class each day. I highly recommend this studio for classes and workshops! Thank you Transformational Yoga!

Really enjoyed my experience with Transformation Yoga. If you've felt like you don't belong in a studio (either in person or online), this is the studio for you. I participated in a two part workshop with Kennae and really enjoyed the movement as well as the education. Can't wait to show up again!
