One-hour classes packed with a variety of poses to build strength, generate heat and direct energy or prana throughout the body. Typically they are flow (Vinyasa) classes with breath awareness. Charleston Zen meets at Holy Cow Yoga Center on Sunday mornings from 7:45-10:15am to practice sitting meditation (Zazan), walking meditation (Kinhin), and chanting, as well as to discuss topics related to Zen practice and its application in daily life. The group is not affiliated with any specific lineage or teacher.
It's completely natural to be nervous when going anywhere for the first time, but we know that inclusive Holy Cow community will make you feel right at hOMe right away. Whether you're new to yoga or just new to our studio, here is everything you need to know to make your experience a pleasant one for you and your classmates.
We generally suggest that new students begin their practice with a gentle class. We offer MANY of these! This will help you to learn the shape of the poses and the language of yoga, as well as giving you a chance to gauge your desire to move on to a more challenging class. The Foundational Flow and Level 1 classes are a great next step.

This is one the best yoga studios I have ever been to. I went for a $15 drop in class and ended up loving it so much that I got the month unlimited pass the next day. This studio and all of its teachers have become a daily part of my life for the past week and I don’t plan on changing that anytime soon. All of the teachers are amazing and unique in their practices. The studio also offers a variety of classes if you’re looking to try something a bit different.
Simply put come by and try a class I’m sure you will love it!

My wife and I were visiting from out of town and we did a Saturday morning class w/ Tracy - Loved it. We would be regulars if we lived here. Included some moderate paced flow with deep (intentional) stretching. I prefer flow that isn’t rushed and Tracy is a great practice guide. Highly recommend virtual or in person w/ Tracy!

I recently started attending the Into to Basics class on Wednesday nights at 7:15 at Holy Cow, with Jenny as the instructor. She goes through all the steps of every pose so that you actually know what you're doing. This is a perfect class for anyone who has never done yoga before and is clueless. Also, Jenny is sweet and funny and never makes you feel uncomfortable with your skill level. I really enjoy this class and recommend it to any beginners!
