Mission Yoga
Sarayana Yoga is an alignment based system of Hatha Yoga that synthesizes TCM Meridian theory, Taoist symbolism, and Rolfing concepts to teach skillful living to humans interested in wellness and profound sanity. It is a slow, purposeful and personal practice that is fundamentally therapeutic even when it is physically challenging.

Not only are our Classes navigated with these symbols, but we teach students to apply this vision to life at large. It is through the exploration of personal and universal symbolism that the practice of Sarayana Yoga is differentiated from other systems of movement.
Services
Teaching yoga for over a decade, Kelly first became a student of Taoist and Zen philosophies in the mid 90's as a teenager seeking a way to better navigate the challenges of a difficult home-life. While studying theatre and art history in college she began exploring the psychology of movement and the nature of the mind.
The Sarayana Yoga Practice is best done as a whole, mixing Ground, Center, and Sky classes for the greatest resonance and growth. This passive practice consists of mostly floor poses held between 2 and 5 minutes. While our Yang practices work with muscle, the yin practice targets connective tissue, ligaments, and joints.

Named after its founder, Dr. Ida P. Rolf, Rolfing Structural Integration is a form of bodywork that reorganizes the connective tissues, called fascia, that permeate the entire body. More than fifty years ago, Dr. Rolf recognized that the body is inherently a system of seamless networks of tissues rather than a collection of separate parts.

Mission yoga is a wonderful community and place to practice. Mission has been my main studio for 7 years now and really love coming in to all the smiling faces, diversity in classes and their concern for your well being. Come take a class and find the hOMe studio you have been looking for.

Cannot recommend Mission Yoga enough. I would suggest you attend a class with my favorite instructor, but they are all my favorites! Each teacher offers their own insightful lens on yoga. This is not a hot yoga or power studio. You can expect intentional movement with breath and a heightened sense of clarity and awareness when you leave. This space is exceptional- you must go!

My favorite studio in Charleston by a long shot - classes in a range of styles are always inventive, fresh, and deeply fulfilling spiritually. The mental aspect of yoga is really well integrated into Mission too, but in a sincere form not the fluffy just-think-positive stuff you get at a lot of places. Kelly is the owner teaches their super popular Mission Practice and she is a certifiable badass - not in the business of empty smiles (the class is a two hour yoga marathon mixed with dialogue and a few poses with partners that you often have to come hella early to so you can get a spot…worth it

I have been an active member of many yoga studios over the years and Mission Yoga is without a doubt the highest quality studio that I have come across.
I find this studio to be one of depth and maturity in comparison to others. There is an emphasis on personal transformation and growth that is rare in today's culture. The true beauty of yoga is lost in the typical manic and over-marketed new-age yoga studios that seem to be popping up everywhere. Mission Yoga provides its members with a sense of meaning.
The teachers are all extremely knowledgeable, experienced and fun to be around. The teachers

Whenever I'm away from home one of the things I miss most is getting to practice at Mission. Not only are a majority of the classes offered a great work out, but the teachers incorporate yoga theory and principles into their teachings, providing a level of thoughtfulness and intelligence not found in most places. It's atmosphere is welcoming; tea is provided as well as clean mats and towels to wipe down, people smile and are warm with one another. There's a class for everyone on the schedule, so you'd be remiss not to try multiple ones and practice with all the wonderful teachers. Truly one of

Such a beautiful space led by some of Charleston's best teachers. Classes are always inclusive to each yogi's level of experience and are a safe place to delve deeper into the yogic teachings. Teachers come from many backgrounds and schools of yoga to create a very well rounded education! Not a place to stress about your brand of leggings or standing on your head, Mission is the right choice for anybody to practice with an open heart and mind.

I have been going to Mission on and off for 1 year now. I love the atmosphere. Very quaint and cozy. I also love the diversity of each teacher and class and the way the teachers indivually help each student further their practice! I recommend their studio to anyone in search of the best yoga experience!

Been a member since Mission first opened.
Kelly and Shelly have selected some of the best teachers in the Charleston. They offer you, regardless of yoga experience, a great place to put down your mat. You will leave class with a refreshed attitude on your day.
Mission is a true oasis in the middle of our busy City.

Mission Yoga is a one of a kind studio with a wide variety of classes. The owner is an excellent bodyworker and Yoga teacher. She is funny, caring and deeply rooted in the philosophy. They have a super high quality teacher training as well great workshops for those who want to learn more than you would in a 60-90 min class, but don't plan to become teachers. Mission Yoga is gem in Charleston. Enjoy!
