Providing Yoga to the community here in Palo Alto for over 25 years, YogaSource has been an amazing presence with an incredible story. YogaSource, then and now. It was a modest beginning. Just a small group of yoga enthusiasts practicing in a tiny studio on Alma Street 25 years ago. Back then, there were few yoga studios in the Bay Area, and we were the first studio to offer heated yoga classes outside of San Francisco.
YogaSource Palo Alto offers over 65 classes a week with some of the best instructors in the bay. We welcome students of all levels to take classes to de-stress, build strength and stay healthy. New Students should arrive at least 15 minutes before class starts. Classes are generally less crowded on weekday mornings and mid-day, which allows instructors to give new students more personal attention.
This foundational 200-Hour training, accredited by Yoga Alliance, is designed to give students a deeper understanding of the 8 limbs of yoga, including the philosophy, pranayama, meditation, and asana - as well as provide students with tools to develop their own equanimity, sense of self, and authentic voice.

I've been here multiple times and classes were always ok but my last experience was not. I really tried to give this studio a shot.
Instructor Miquela Cox yelled at me for leaving class early when it was 100+ degrees with no air circulation. I felt sick like I was going to faint and needed some air. The instructor had no regard for attendees health but wants to boost her own ego.
If you're looking for a relaxing rejuvenating experience this isn't the place. It's like a boot camp training with loud blaring EDM music and the speakers will short circuit so you just hear a screeching

I have been going to YogaSource for over two years now and I absolutely love it! Everyone is so friendly and there are so many incredible teachers and classes. I miss the environment of going into the studio, but since starting Zoom yoga classes in March I have been able to try even more classes and instructors than I normally would. I cannot recommend highly enough!

I LOVE Yoga Source Palo Alto. It has been about ten years since I tried my first yoga class at Yoga Source on the new client special and I've been hooked ever since. All of the instructors are wonderful and bring their own personality, creativity and passion to the classes. I love the variety of classes from hot yoga, to vinyasa to power yoga to barre to HIIT Pilates. Shout out to some of my favorite instructors: Hillary A., Amber, Kristine, Kiersten, Alison B, Mariya, Ali D., Emerson, Ngugi, and last but not least Johnny! Thank you Yoga Source for keeping me fit and sane during these

I really enjoy all of yoga source's classes, especially vinyasa. Their classes are a great balance - they let you recenter after a long day through thoughtful flows with attention to the breath, but they are also physically challenging. During COVID, the live classes have been a blessing to practice with a community and the on demand classes are also a useful resource (at a cheaper price) for when I need more flexibility.

This studio is my other home. Yogasource is a community of yogis, more so than a business. I have been a part of this community for 4 years. I love the teachers and the people I have met at the studio. We have lots of camaraderie here.
The teachers are also the best in the Bay Area. Many of us have health issues and injuries from other sports. We are guided as to how to amend poises so we aid our body and not injure ourselves. I have asthma and find taking the classes here are instrumental for my breathing which is enhanced from the deep breathing, especially when my breathing is challenged

I am new to the area and quickly learned that this is one of the premier spots to practice yoga.
The staff were welcoming.
The main studio (there are two) is larger than I expected from talking to people. It is longer than it is wide with plenty of space to accommodate large classes. There is also a Buddha statue centrally located in the room. It's presence is unmistakable.
I attended the restorative yoga class. It seems to be a very popular option and fulfills a very specific niche in the PA yoga community. It was heavily story based with a lot of essential oil mists. All good smells

I'm a visitor to the area for a conference in half Moon Bay but was staying in San Jose area. I found this place because I was searching for yoga studios all over the area. I chose to go to this studio because the class time happen to fit my schedule...and you know, marketing works and the website looks cool. So for me, I did drop ins and it's $25/visit. Whew! High. But it was worth it. I consider myself not a regular yoga practicer but I am active, did take a yoga training at some point in my life and I thought the classes were great!!! I did the 11am core and strength as well as the 12pm vinyasa

The online reservation system is a cluster, allowing payment for the right to reserve a class without allowing you to actually reserve a class. Extreme confusion.
EDIT: The studio responded courteously to the above complaint, which is good. A FAQ entry on what is being purchased and how it applies would be nice though.

I recently revisited the studio after recommendations. While my current experience is much better than the first time around, there are still a lot of points that make it hard for me to fully embrace the studio...
* The class schedule changes all the time. They're constantly changing the times of classes and just plain cancelling classes without announcement. As someone who bought a 6-month membership because I like a certain number of instructors, it's very anxiety-inducing to see their classes disappearing from the schedule.
* Why is it so freakin' hot? When you walk by the studio

I've taken pretty good classes here, but it really varies based on the instructor. Emerson Shiang is my favorite instructor. For Palo Alto and the surrounding area, I think this is the best studio (but it's not as good as studios in bigger metropolitan areas like LA, SF, or NY). I've recommended this studio to my friends. I've even brought half a dozen friends with me to classes here over the two-ish years I've been coming here.
Lately, I've had some negative experiences with the front desk. In particular, the past few times I've gone the person at the front

I researched a number of studios in the area while here on business and decided to give this a try as it seems to be a favorite.
I am a hot yoga instructor with a love for many styles of fitness so typically look for something fairly challenging. That being the case, I decided to try the Hot Pilates class with Maria and OH MY GOD was it hard. She did a great job encouraging the class and had good instruction. I felt very challenged and liked the balance of toning/strength building and cardio. Great full body workout.
The downside for me was the heat. Even for a hot yoga instructor, I thought

I love Bikram Yoga with Johnny and I always know what to expect. I like the fun music he plays before class and relaxing music he plays during the practice. He also gives a great foot massage during and after class.
The only minus about the Bikram class, not anything to do with the instructor, is that you're allowed to leave the room during a pose. I feel like if you need to leave the room it should be in savasana only. It's not fair to those who are trying to stay focused on the pose and have to deal with people walking around, opening and closing doors.
Otherwise, everything is great!!!

I went here for a "Bikram" class, and it was a pretty bad experience.
First of all, they played REALLY LOUD MUSIC. And it wasn't even yoga-friendly music. It was loud country and pop..
There is no music allowed in Bikram yoga. You're supposed to focus on the dialogue and the breath.
Also the teacher didn't stick with the Bikram dialogue. It didn't seem like he was an actual qualified Bikram teacher.
Unlike some of the other reviewers here, I don't mind adjustments, love adjustments, so I wasn't bothered by that.
The teacher, Johnny, also seemed like a pretty friendly person, who loves teaching

My coworker is quite advanced at Yoga and invited me on a Yoga date. I'll admit, I was a little apprehensive at first, but once we arrived I immediately felt relaxed. It's small but I liked that. Very intimate and calming. I'd definitely go again but this time to a beginners class as Power Yoga was a little fast paced (and hot) for me.
