We distinguish and pride ourselves on offering authentic, classic French cuisine which inspires most of our flavors. This labor-intensive style is primarily executed through a carefully crafted mixture of marrow, wine, and herbs over slow heat for a lengthy period - extracting all flavors from the bones, which produces the incredibly flavorful sauces.
We have been operating under this classic style for four decades, and we will continue to do so. Come and enjoy!. In the mid 1800s, just a few years before the great California Gold Rush, Andres Castillera, a Mexican officer with the Artillery discovered his own riches in the lush green hills of an area known as New Almaden.

We went for the 6 course tasting menu, and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. All the food was perfectly cooked (the elk was spectacular and by far the stand out dish of the evening), but the salad course was uninspired to say the least, and the lamb portion was far too big for a tasting menu. It was basically the same as the main menu. If I went there again I wouldn't bother with the tasting menu. It isn't worth the price compared to others I have had.
The restaurant itself is lovely. It's an older building in a lovely garden setting. Be prepared for your signal to drop on the way out there

This is a beautiful restaurant!!! We visited last December, during Covid outdoor dinning era. The patio is comfy and inviting. They had heaters everywhere so it was nice and cozy.
Hubby and I had the tasting menu with wine pairings. All the courses were delicious 😋 and the wine went perfect with the meal. Except for the last one.
For a French restaurant We assumed they would get the soufflé right, but it was pretty bad. Not sure if it was just a wrong batch or what but it smelled and tasted like rotten eggs, it left a bad taste in our mouth 👄 and we were looking forward to brushing our
