The Yogi Underground
The intention of The Yogi Underground is to cultivate a safe space for discovery. What that discovery may be, is up to you. With an inspiring studio environment, accessible group yoga classes for all, private sessions for more focused work, and nurturing & knowledgeable teachers, you will find ease throughout your exploration. Why yoga? Among other things, yoga helps you sleep better, therefore feel better. It teaches you that the impossible is indeed possible. With practice, yoga will change your life.
Services
Our yoga studio is conveniently located to all points in the DC Metro Area; right off Route 66 on Route 29. You can metro or drive, as the East Falls Church Metro is nearby and there is ample parking at our location. We are even right off the bike path if you prefer to travel on two wheels. If you are driving, retail parking is available in the garage on the main level or in spots marked by yellow lines and NO NUMBERS down a level on P1.
Our mission is to hold the space for you to find yourself. Once you find yourself, you'll want to connect with others. After exploring the desire to connect with others, you'll soon realize you're already connected. Once you've remembered you're already connected, you'll want to share the love. This is yoga.
You can walk, ride, drive, or take metro to The Yogi Underground. If you drive, parking is in the garage on street level, as well as one level down, in any unreserved spot. If you need to park one level down, there are stairs and an elevator to bring you back up to street level. Our entrance to reception is on North Washington Street to the left of the Northgate apartment lobby.
Each Basics class carries a different focus on foundational postures such as Forward Facing Standing Poses, Side Facing Standing Poses, Balancing Poses, Downward-Facing Dog, and Backbends. Expect clear instruction and a slow pace. Taught in a workshop style, this class is perfect for anyone starting out their yoga journey, as well as for those looking to revisit the fundamentals.
Membership has it's privileges. With a 3 month autopay commitment, month to month thereafter, you can enjoy unlimited classes at an excellent price. For $130, you may attend any class and as many classes as you choose. If you attend 10 classes a month, you pay only $13 per class; attend 16 classes per month and you pay just over $8 per class.

Positive: Communication, Quality
If there's one word I could use to describe this place, I'd say scintillating. Lovely environment, staff, I'd definitely recommend it to friends and even non-yoga lovers.

It's just quite a radical place. The owner is pretty cool too even though I don't know her that well.

I had a horrible experience here last holiday season and it still bothers me. The teacher was rude and presumptuous about my skills and she hadn't memorized her flow, so she was reading off a paper and the sequencing was bizarre and senseless. They haven't embraced "underground" as the decor, so it's kind of an empty cave inside which doesn't make for a pleasant yoga experience.

Continued to bill me AFTER I cancelled. Disinterested, unhelpful owner. Had to dispute with bank. Feel scammed. Undid any potential de-stressing from the yoga.
Hugely disappointed!!!

I love this little studio! Walking into a yoga class can be intimidating, but not here. After years of no yoga practice, I walked into a gentle-level class after I threw my back out. And I walked out of that class upright for the first time in over a week. And then I kept going back.

I have seen all shapes and sizes and skill levels in this studio-which is why I love it so much. The teachers are kind and patient and completely non-judgmental. This studio does not feel like a gym or exercise facility--it feels warm and cozy and safe.

Yoga studios are all over the NoVa area so I'll speak

This studio is great! Not at all pretentious and the instructors seem to really care about teaching yoga the right way. There is enough space most days and classes are well spaced out during the week. Their $30 for 30 package is great deal. Definitely got my wife and me hooked. Highly recommend!

This yoga studio is unlike others where the teachers really emphasize on the meditative and breathing component of yoga. I love how simple and quaint the studio is. I got to try their 30 for 30 days promotion and absolutely fell in love.

The best part of this studio is how educated the I instructors are on body alignment. They correct you and take the time to help you practice correctly. This is rare to find now especially in yoga studios with lots of franchises.

I am so happy to have found the Yogi Underground. I was away from yoga for a couple of years and this studio is just the right reason to come back and re-connect with yoga as part of my quest for a more balanced life.

I appreciate the studio's simple yet warm ambience. They have everything you need including mats. The website and mobile web app are really easy to use - especially the scheduling feature. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable and most importantly, they are supportive without being judgmental.

I tried the $30 for 30 days deal and have already gone three times!

I took advantage of the 30 days for $30. I've gone to several classes this far. The instructors are all excellent. The studio is new and clean, and there is ample, free and convenient parking in a garage. I really like the instructors. I've enjoyed the basic, gentle, gentle flow and nidra classes.

This is a wonderful studio. Cristina is very knowledgeable and nurturing. The atmosphere is very different than in a lot of other studios in the area which I LoVe. The facilities are clean, confortable and convenient. I learned something from every class I was in.

A really lovely place to practice yoga. I did the 30 for 30 trial which was an amazing deal. All the teachers have unique teaching and practicing styles, but I loved them all. Sometimes the classes could be small, which made it feel like you were getting a semi private yoga class. There's no pressure: the teachers put a lot of focus on compassion and safety. The facilities are intimate and well maintained and the 2 bathrooms are pristine. The studio provides all the necessary equipment/props, including mats, blocks, bolsters, straps, and blankets. The schedule is varied so you can partake

This studio is a gem. It is a supportive, accepting, and knowledgeable place to learn yoga and deepen your practice. The studio is nicely designed and has extra touches like tea and the use of mats available for students. There are a range of teachers, all of whom bring something a bit different, but who all seem to have the same caring and reflective attitude about their approach to yoga.

This is a true yoga studio with experienced and caring instructors. The space is inspiring with high ceilings and an open concept. Ample free garage parking and within walking distance to EFC Metro. The studio offers great drop- in and membership options, including one month of unlimited yoga for $30.00! Complimentary and clean mats and yoga equipment available in each studio. I've found my new yoga studio.

I love this studio. I tried the 30 day promo and found myself needing daily yoga. The days I did make it to practice my spine felt better and I stood taller. It's a very calming and restorative studio space and the teachers are all excellent.

I tried the $30 for 30 days deal and it was well worth it. I mainly did gentle yoga on weekdays which resulted in way calmer days. It was my first try at yoga, but I definitely plan on joining.

About two months ago I signed up with the 30 days for $30 promotion (what a deal!) and became addicted. By attending the gentle and gentle flow classes, the flexibility of my shoulders and hips have increased tremendously. Today I attended the moderate flow class and can't wait to go again. The Nidra guided meditation class is amazingly.

At this point I've had a class with all the instructors and can honestly say all are fantastic. Signing up for classes has been very easy - and if I decide to go at the last minute it is not problem to just show up. Be sure to arrive promptly

I really love this studio! They are really helpful if you are new to yoga/meditation, and offer a lot of different classes. This is not a chain which makes it feel more personable. $30 for 30 days is great because I can take different classes and see what I like. I would recommend it!

The classes and teachers are hands down the best I've experienced in NoVa. I have advanced significantly since I started coming here - the teachers push you to challenge youself, while making sure you have correct alignment and are being safe.

If you want to advance your practice, I would strongly recommend this studio.

I've been coming here for several months, and this place is great. It's a good mix of the athletic and meditative elements of yoga. Their new student special (30 days of classes for $30) makes it easy to try the different classes available. Definitely recommend!
