They pretty much have no security officers. There was a break in and vandalism streak in the garage for about 2 weeks (ancient security cameras of course). A lot of cars broken into, including mine so don't leave anything in your car. Safety feels a bit iffy at this place. Front desk person kinda grumpy. Also pet rent is a thing in Seattle but $45 per animal on top of a pet deposit is weird considering 2 cats are really no different than 1 and we are not taking up more space so it's a bit unjustifiable. Also no "aggressive" breeds of dogs. Close your windows unless you want the fruit flies from

I have been a renter for the past 20 years in 8 different complex's across California and Washington. Tower 801 has hands down been the best place I have ever rented. The remodeled apartments are beautiful, the walls are solid concrete so you rarely ever hear your neighbors and where else can you get a one bedroom apartment with TWO large balconies over looking the heart of downtown Seattle. The staff is wonderful, kind and were tremendous supports to all of us during COVID as many of us in the complex are frontline healthcare workers. I also cannot say enough great things about the maintenance

Me and my other half moved to tower801 from our homes for the first time in Seattle knowing nothing about the city or how to live on our own. The staff has made everything so easy and helped every step as they could helping us get our footing. Beautiful room and view couldn’t have asked for anything better.

We lived in this building for 10 years before relocating back to our home city. The location is fantastic; just on the edge of downtown where it’s a little safer and quieter, but still within blocks of everything. This building is older and the unrenovated units show their age (my reason for docking a star), but they do have electrical window air conditioning units (which is admittedly much appreciated in the summer). While the cost of living has increased substantially in Seattle over the decade we resided here, the rent increases were quite fair in regards to being in a city where there’s

I would strongly advised everyone to think twice before moving to this apartment. I just terminated my lease with them due to relocation and I was billed with an extra $349.14 charges after forfeiting all the $600 deposit. The reason was carpet replacement which I didn't recall damaged/stained the carpet (by the way, only the bedroom was carpeted).
Other than this, this apartment does not have individual meter and the residents of the same floor share the monthly utility bills etc. I lived here alone and every month, my utility bill hit $150 or more, which is double than my previous apartment

This place is a steal for the size, layout and location. I moved from NYC and researched apartment buildings for months ahead of time. I was immediately impressed with the layout and square footage compared to buildings in the area that are typically a junior one bed and closer to 500 sq ft. The building itself is a little older but my unit is updated with new appliances and modern fixtures. The balconies are also spacious and a nice touch.
I've only been here for about 4 months but so far I've been really happy with my decision. Any maintenance requests are serviced within 24-48 hours (honestly

Lived at Tower 801 for a year. The staff is fantastic - from the leasing office, to the maintenance team, to the janitorial folks. The location is great - super convenient to the downtown core, and Capital Hill. Short walk to the off leash dog park, too. The building is 50 years old, but has been nicely updated. The age does show in certain ways (elevators, windows) - which is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. The amenities are nice enough - pretty average for downtown. Loved having the little balcony off each room.

Update: The response by the property manager below is dishonest. I'm absolutely talking about Tower 801 located at 801 Pine Street in Seattle, and he is fully aware of the domestic violence situation.
I actually loved my apartment but I couldn't stand to live there anymore due to a domestic violence situation that the management did not want to address. Myself and two other units on the same floor vacated all within 30 days due to the problem going unaddressed. The issue was brought to management's attention but they would not take action. The best they would offer is that if they were being loud

Not a bad place to live for downtown. It's located right between downtown and capital hill. The apartments are pizza-shaped, which really utilizes the footprint of the apartment to its maximum, and you wont feel closed in.
The downsides start with the elevators. There are only 2 for the building and while I lived there I was constantly waiting on them. Plus one of the elevators would routinely be locked down either for maintenance or reserved for another reason.
The water temperature was a big issue while I lived there. There were ongoing problems with the broiler. It needed to be replaced but

Moved here for a 3 month lease, cant say I have any complaints :) They are helpful and care about residents
EDIT- My initial review was based on an employee that quit before I moved out. So, it is not valid anymore. Moreover, I had a ton of bad experiences during move out that I will highlight on.
First, they did not provide me with a courtesy letter that they provide everyone that reminds the resident to submit a written 30 day notice for move out. So, I ended up being charged 10 days additional rent for an empty apartment.
Second, they stopped responding to emails towards the end of my lease

Update. The building is a great location but for what your paying in rent. It's not worth it. Plus the leasing staff isn't the best, everything is out of date.. take your money else where

I've lived in the building for a year and a half, and I love it here.
Pros: the current property management company (avenue 5) is great. Their staff are super responsive and friendly and have already made a few improvements to the building in the last few months. The location in Downtown and right next to Capitol Hill can't be beat. Transit access is 5-star. And everything is within walking distance. The shared amenities are high quality and kept clean and tidy. Maintenance typically responds to all requests within 24 hours. The building was built in the 70s but recently renovated so

I've been living here for almost 3 months now and I can honestly say I love it here. The staff are all so friendly and wonderful! Look forward to seeing them when I'm around. I love my apartment space, and even though it's not an "Updated Unit" it's extremely comfortable and clean and cozy. I use our gym every day, my only bummer is that I wish the weights went up higher. But seriously its a great space, the people are fantastic and I am so happy I live here.

I lived here for a year in one of the upgraded unit. I loved it! The onsite management staff and the maintenance staff (Alyssa, Debra and Scott) are super nice and friendly. It was great to get to know them. On thing I really appreciate is that the sound isolation between units is great (probably because the building has concrete structure) so I never heard my neighbors. The one bedroom unit I had was very lovely and spacious. The location of the building is the best: it's close to everything, including shopping, restaurants, public transit, zipcars, etc. The building is also meticulously

I'm updating my review as I prepare to move out in March 2016. I'm still very happy with the property. The office staff of Scott, Alissa, and Deb are amazing. While I don't always like a company policy, the way they give you "no" is appreciated. I wanted to upgrade from a "classic" unit that wasn't upgraded, to a newer unit, but it didn't work out so I'm moving out.
Tower 801 wasn't able to work with me on keeping me in the building. They said I'd have to pay the full $750 in fees and deposits for a new apartment just like any new

I lived here before/ after renovations and the building updates are fantastic! The units come with the features most important to us, balconies/ a lot of natural light, and new appliances.
I only had good experiences with the management, they were really accommodating for the requests we had. The building location is also key, close to lots of shopping but walking distance for bars/ restaurants in capitol hill and belltown!

I've lived here for almost 3 years in 2 different units. Its definitely not the newest building in Seattle but hands down best bang for buck. They are currently remodeling the building and updating the units. I have been shopping around just to compare pricing of a non updated unit to what is in the area and no one can come close with price per sqft. The new management team has been nothing but great to us and are very professional and accommodating. Myra and Alyssa are great and have loved the work they have put in.

I'd suggest stay away from this place for a lot of reasons:
1) Expensive rent for an old place
2) I had sewer water flood my sink twice because the neighbor dropped garbage into it and did not run the grinder thingy. Apparently the pipes are connected and it ended up flooding my sink. The repair took three days on both times and I had to bear with the stench till then
3) Elevators always take a long time
4) The rooms are awkwardly shaped with a lot of dead space.
Pros:
1) Frontdesk is super nice, and good people to chat with.
2) Location
For the price, there are fa better options out there

There's definitely better living options in the area, but this place has a vintage appeal to it, and is conveniently located in the heart of city and on the perimeter of Capital Hill (5 min walk).
The rent is pricey for how out-dated the building and it's facilities are. The decor and appliances are very cheap. The owners, Essex, really compromised on a lot of the decision making when they tried to revamp this landmark building.
Better bang for your buck on Craigslist.

Don't Ignore this Review!!!
I used to live at the Tower 801 back in the early 80s. Coming back and visiting this grand old structure has to be one of my saddest experiences when I was in Seattle. First of all.. the building looks totally out of scale with neighboring views blocked by neighboring buildings. Next.. I am surprised that the current owners has the balls to even rent units that face a blank wall, which to me, reads greed in the worst degree. I would love to walk over to one of the partners home and build and brick wall in front of their living room windows, and see how they
