Rainier Beach Yoga
To provide a transformative space where people and communities can move toward healing personal, intrapersonal, interpersonal, historical, and systemic wounding through connection and resilience. Classes at Rainier Beach Yoga are one part group processing and discussion, one part movement and one part meditation.

All classes include a discussion on yoga philosophy, the movement portion of class is less about putting your body in particular shapes and more about embodying yoga philosophy, and each class ends with meditation. Along with group classes, workshops and retreats I also have a private yoga therapy practice from this space.
Services
Join us for our Goodbye RBY class. Rainier Beach Yoga has served the community for 5 amazing years, and we are so grateful to each and every being who walked through our doors. Come to this complimentary class to connect (socially distant, of course) with community, move our bodies and meditate. Masks required.
We want yoga to be an inclusive and accessible practice, and we also want Rainier Beach Yoga to be a sustainable business that supports the community for a long time! With that in mind, we created a financial structure that is committed to equity and inclusion. We offer 3 payment rates for classes and workshops: SUPPORTING, SUSTAINING, and SOLIDARITY.
Yoga Therapy is a creative, compassionate, mindful and embodied approach to healing, and I see myself a guide to help you unlock the wisdom of healing inside yourself. As a Licensed Mental Health Therapist and certified Yoga Therapist, I work with people going through diverse challenges such as: trauma, depression, relationship with body image and food and grief and loss.
We understand sometimes you will miss a class. If you join a series class you are welcome to attend any other class on the schedule to make up a class you have missed. We also have a limited number of work/study positions. If you are interested in work/study email info@rainierbeachyoga.com a cover letter and your resume sharing your interest in the position.
In my 10 years of practicing yoga, I have been so impressed with her teaching. It never fails that her ability to direct and customize both the spiritual aspects and the physical aspects of the practice leave me feeling challenged, refreshed, and energized. I also love her energy and gentle guidance - a true yogi in the sense of being accessible to all and inspiring the best in her student.

Rainer Beach Yoga classes have been crucial for my yoga practice and my long term healing (both emotional and physical). Laura has so much training in so many movement and mindfulness modalities and she brings them all together brilliantly to create a safe and nurturing space.

Laura's work on be accountable for white privilege is honest and authentic. Her classes support a safe space for racial equity to be felt and experienced. Seattle's racism problem largely has to do with not naming it and her classes do just that.

Laura and the people of Rainier Beach Yoga operate a holistic, and community focused practice. Laura integrates psychotherapy and Yoga with a specialized focus on women and trauma work. I applaud their commitment to social justice practices, with offerings such as People of Color Yoga.

I love that I see Rainier Beach Yoga and Satmato Yoga Therapy in partnership with 8 limbs constructing a new narrative on yoga in the Western world. The fact that Laura has tirelessly fought to create a different, more critical approach to the Western-yoga I find to be incredible. We should be having conversations about racism, sexism, classism, ableism, ageism and heteronormativity within the yoga community. Yoga is about compassion and balance and connectivity which cannot happen without recognizing first our role within systems of oppression. I see Laura doing this work and bringing it forth

My sister first started going to Laura for yoga years ago. My mom eventually followed, and so did I. Living in Everett, it has been hard to get down south, but I love all my experiences with Laura. I hope other people will enjoy her easy going manner and breadth of yoga knowledge.

Laura taught a yoga class at a retreat I went to 8 years ago. She was so non-judgmental about my lack of experience and made me feel very comfortable. I was lucky to find her again years ago at her studio in the Central District. Her Yoga for Depression class was life changing. Not only is she great with yoga but she is also wise, gentle and full of love for everyone. Highly recommend her, especially for people nervous to give yoga a try.

I worked with Laura at Rainier Beach Yoga in a few different capacities. One was an awesome outdoor yoga class last summer. The second was as a private yoga therapy client. Both instances have really helped me connect in with my body more, deepen my yoga practice and help manage anxiety. Highly recommend.

A sweet space in a neighborhood where even the chicken coop has peace flags flying! I have attended Laura's classes at various studios for years and it was wonderful to see her dream studio up and running. All props are provided and people of all body types and abilities are welcomed. The space can only fit about 10 yogis, so you're guaranteed an intimate class size-- it was a breeze for me to pre-register online, which is recommended to guarantee a spot. Online payment was also easy using Paypal. Laura's reputation speaks for itself as not only a very skilled teacher and practitioner with melt

Laura is an outstanding teacher and student of yoga who embraces all students. Her classes derive from her considerable experience and a personal commitment to yogic principles and are the ideal of what a yoga teacher should aspire to teach. Anyone who actually takes one of her classes will understand this.
