Updated review: Rock Creek Springs has got to be the COLDEST apartment complex on the planet. When its cold outside (like it is right now), the temperature inside the unit matches the temps outside. If you try to turn your heat on, the energy costs skyrocket to the point that it's better to freeze and save money than risk an $800 bill! We contacted the leasing office to see if they had space heaters we could use, and they ran out of course. Typical. Now we have to pay out of pocket to buy our own space heaters (yes, space heaterS--plural--for both bedrooms and the living room) so we don't have

I've been living in this property for almost two years now. This place is well kept, incredible location, pet friendly and worth every penny. I highly recommend potential tenants to consider this property.

The management of this apartment complex is great. They were always there to help us with our requests. Most importantly they are not sharks.
This place is close to multiple Restaurants (Shirowat at Rohobot Ethiopian is the best). Giant supermarket is just 5 minutes away and I couldn’t believe how my life style changed to shopping for fresh groceries every 2 days compared to shopping for a week due to how close giant was and the metro station is a quick 10 minute walk. I would say by far this is a great place to stay in the DC area.

My final experiences with this property was very disappointing and frustrating. I resided in building #8003 apt 301 and my final encounters before moving out resulted in unkept commitments and lack of communication from management. I never received my security deposit although the leasing team seemed unsure with the dates that they were giving me, then eventually leading to them not understanding why it hasn’t been given back to me. The apartment and living was good however, I feel that it’s disrespectful and negligent to play guessing games and disregard the need of a residents funds. I really

Been living here for almost 3 years and have had a great experience. The entire leasing office and maintenance staff is great and the apartments for the size, price and location is unbeatable for Silver Spring and it’s proximity to DC.

I moved into Rock Creek Springs in 2014 into a two bedroom and then moved into a one bedroom unit in 2017. I was very happy at RCS as the location is great and the daily management on site were helpful and attentive. I was a loyal, quiet, on-time paying tenant for almost six years.
However, once they removed the woman who was managing the property day-to-day they failed up a man who is beyond incompetent and has no empathy for the well-being of the tenants.
I was released from my lease early after I had to file a formal complaint with the MD Attorney General's office because my kitchen flooded

This is a really great place to live. Decent prices. Management and maintenance are super helpful, responsive, and available. The grounds are well managed.
The building are older but have been updated and maintained well to keep up and compete with the surrounding luxury apts. You can cut through the giant parking lot and get to the metro with a 7 min walk. Very convenient to DC (it is literally across the street).
If you manage electric use well your bill could be around $100.
Highly recommend this place.

We lived at RCS for 2 years and absolutely loved it. We had very few problems when we were there and were happy to recommend it as a low-cost way to enjoy downtown Silver Spring to our friends! The problem happened after we moved out. Despite our repeated attempts to contact the leasing office for the return of our security deposit, we did not receive anything until more than 45 days after move out. In Maryland, withhold ANY amount from a security deposit after failing to notify a former tenant within 45 days is illegal. We have had to resort to filing a complaint with the county to attempt to

There are a lot of advantages to Rock Creek Springs - it has a really convenient, walkable location from the Silver Spring metro station and the downtown, it has an IN-UNIT WASHER AND DRYER, the neighborhood is very safe, and the apartments have beautiful parquet floors and lots of light. It's great if you have a dog because they charge a one-time pet deposit as opposed to a monthly pet rent. It feels like living in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood, but the conveniences of downtown Silver Spring are a 10-min. walk away. There is also access to a small gym facility and pool in the summertime. Plus

Here are the great things about living at Rock Creek Springs: The buildings are very well maintained - the building maintenance staff is highly responsive, friendly, and professional. The apartments are beautiful with parquet wood flooring and lovely window and floor molding. The location is fantastic - close to a Giant and CVS, downtown Silver Spring, on multiple bus routs, and just a short walk to the Metro.

Disadvantages to living here include: "First-come-first-serve" parking - if you commute to work and get home after 5 PM you will not be able to find a parking spot and will need

If you want to live with cockroaches, then this is the place for you! Management here is terrible. If you request fixes to be done to your apartment, they will ignore your request. You literally have to hunt them down in order for them to do maintenance. Another thing, I recently moved into a "newly renovated apartment". It's been a complete nightmare. So many things were not working or broken upon move in. The apartment was not ready at all and we soon noticed it was full of roaches. I requested to have an exterminator come spray the apartment. They gave a letter with a date and

The complex is always kind and considerate when you explain the problem but the reality is none of these problems are new. Below is a list what we experienced, for the price point there are many other alternatives in Silver Spring. If you have to stay here have an exit strategy.

1.No insulation in the walls; we couldn't use our second bedroom all winter; 2.When we moved in the HVAC unit went out and it took a few weeks to get a new unit; 3.The HVAC is not high efficiency and we averaged electric bills between $153 and $210 per month; 4.To reduce our utilities over the Winter we had to buy

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.
I LOVE living here. Coming up on a year, and it has just been so great being here.
I'm not sure what some of the complaints about the leasing office staff are about. Based on my experience, I think that either the staff must've changed, or there's a side of the story you're not getting with other reviewers.
I've never had a problem with the leasing office. They're wonderful people, helpful, attentive, and friendly. Rocio especially, who showed me around the complex and took me through the process of getting the apartment early this year, has been so, SO great. I had a LOT

If you move here, make sure you get a top floor unit. Otherwise you may not be happy living here. While one of the main selling points of this property is that is allows dogs, it can also be a big negative.

I live under people with fairly decent-sized dogs and it feels like I live beneath a zoo. The residents moved in after I'd already been living here about six months. Prior to that there was a 150-pound dog living over me (which goes against the 75 pound weight restriction) and that was even worse. It sounded like a horse was walking around upstairs.

The floors and ceilings are very poorly

Do not live here. We have lived here for two years and can not take it any longer. The management company is horribly rude and do not care about your safety.

1. We did not have heat in the middle of winter for six weeks, despite notifying them on three separate occasions. Their solution was to offer us space heaters, which would have been an acceptable short term fix if we didn't have a dog. When we approached the property manager to follow up and ask when it might be fixed, he was upset that we had the audacity to bother him, despite not getting a response to our multiple prior issues.

I lived in Rock Creek Apartments and truly enjoyed the experience. The apartments are quaint and cozy. The staff in the office and maintenance were helpful. The only reason I gave them 4 stars out of 5 is because the restroom needs upgrading. The tile was old and broken and the plaster around the tub was not professionally done. I didn't enjoy looking at it every day. The parking situation was a problem when we first moved in but was quickly resolved by the leasing office. If your car didn't belong there, you would not find it the next morning, problem solved. Keep it up.

Our experience is a bit untypical. Service and management people are good, but due to the smell of the floor and that we had to move out in the end, I give a total 3 stars (5 stars for the management, 1star for the smell of the floor).

We moved in to a 1 bedroom apartment last January. However, their newly polished floor smells a lot -- actually they just finished the floor the day before we moved in. We tried to leave the window open for two week (with temperature around 20-30 F). However the smell doesn't go away, so we had to move out in the end.

The management helped us in addressing

The leasing office and property management is very unresponsive to any problems with the apartments. Most recently, I developed a health issue (nausea, vomiting, and severe headaches) from them painting a neighbor's unit without proper ventilation. When I expressed my concerns, they were unable to contact the property manager and unable to remedy my living environment.

If you deal with Rock Creek Springs Apartments, get everything in writing. That is the only way you can protect yourself.

Summary: I negotiated the terms of a six month lease with the manager at Rock Creek Springs and paid a deposit for my apartment. When I showed up on the agreed upon date to sign the lease and get the keys, the terms of the lease had been altered. I was given a 12 lease and told that if I wanted a six month I was required to pay a substantial premium. Nearly a week later, Rock Creek Springs acknowledged their error and gave some lame excuses. But the management was very

I lived at Rock Creek Springs for about two years until mid-year last year. We paid $1325ish per month for 750 square feet, though I hear that prices have gone up since. The apartment had your standard beige carpet and white walls. The layout of our apartment was awkward because the kitchen and dining area was very narrow, but the complex has multiple layouts to choose from.

The good news: No unwanted pets (aka mice, rats, roaches). Adequate closet space. Very quiet at night and within walking distance of Giant, the Metro, and most of downtown Silver Spring. Hallways are cleaned weekly.

I wish I could move my apartment at Rock Creed Springs to about 8th and East Capitol. Then my life would be perfect. Of course, the rent I paid would have gone up by about $1500, but oh well.

Rock Creek Springs, well, rocked. I did not live here very long, but I LOVED my apartment. Two huge bedrooms, giant living room, dining nook, kitchen, fantastically large storage closet....sigh. Now I live in a tiny studio on Capitol Hill, and although I couldn't be happier living in the city again, I do miss the space I had at Rock Creek Springs.

Honestly, the people who work in rental office
