Often, the fast pace of life can cause us to feel distracted, disconnected, and to neglect our connection to life. At South Street Yoga and Nutrition, we strive to quiet the mind, release inner peace, and find center with our selves. Our philosophy is centered on the belief that a sound mind in a sound body is the key to a healthy, happy existence.
Each of our classes and our nutritional programs are designed with this philosophy in mind. Our primary class offering is Vinyasa Yoga. In Vinyasa, the poses are linked together in a series of movements that are synchronized with the breath. The continual movements, from one pose to another, gives you cardiovascular benefits, can increase muscle strength, endurance and flexibility, and reduce levels of stress.

At South Street Yoga and Nutrition our select group of instructors have years of experience in yoga philosophy, proper alignment, and providing the attention and support your yoga practice craves. While many instructors teach a vinyasa-style class, they also incorporate multiple styles of yoga and movement brought in by their unique backgrounds.
Slow down and go inward as Pamela leads you through a restful restorative yoga practice using several props to allow you to surrender your stress and anxiety. As you settle into each pose, Dave will create an immersive, healing sound bath. The sound of pure tone produces sine waves, which are present in the brain during an alpha state, inducing a deep state of relaxation, insightful presence, and elevated mood.
Nutrition is powerful. It can have a positive or a negative impact on your health. Together, as a team we will develop a plan to get you eating the foods that will make you feel better (or even great). Good nutrition is not only about elimination but often about education. Many chronic diseases; diabetes, hypertension, obesity, autoimmune diseases, leaky gut, digestive and weight issues can be conquered or mitigated by your food choices.
Yoga was traditionally taught one teacher to one student. The ancient teachers understood the importance of individualizing each yoga experience to meet the needs of the individual student. If you are new to a practice, recovering from an injury or just want to spend time working on a a specific goal or concern this is a great option.

The community at SSYN is wonderful and welcoming. The studio space at Mills Street is bright, light and magical. The teachers are creative and caring. SSYN is a special place to take a yoga class, meditation break and support local. 😊
Full disclosure, I teach yoga at SSYN but I was a student there before a teacher and continue to enjoy the classes and workshop offerings.

I am dismayed to feel the need to write a negative review, but for my fellow health seeker, I feel the need to share my negative experience in working with Debra Weinstein, owner of the South Street Yoga & Nutrition center.
In September, I paid Debra $395 for a package of 3 'Clinical Nutrition' sessions. To make things simpler and because I don't want to expend any further energy on this, I am going to copy & paste my final email to Debra, which I sent today after she cancelled our final session last minute, which explains succinctly my experience:

I took the Wednesday night Yin Yoga class. I’ve take many yoga classes in the past few years but if you like meditative/Yin Yoga I highly recommend this class. The use of blocks was fantastic. The teacher had a great cadence. I have been struggling with a lot of back problems and the twists and poses were great. I left feeling refreshed and renewed more-so than ever.

The best yoga community in Morris County. Knowledgeable spirited teachers and staff, and supportive dedicated students. If you are looking for a friendly not trendy yoga atmosphere where you can learn and practice yoga, South Street Yoga and Nutrition is where it’s at. Lots of variety in style and levels to really accommodate all levels. I love it there.

I moved to Morristown two years ago and started going to South Street Yoga, both have been great decisions:). I was new to yoga and going through a life transition. The warmth and ease I felt (and still feel) from South Street make it a joy to learn and grow and to develop an appreciation for what yoga truly is. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and seem to know the right words and quotes to give me those “ahha” moments about life to take yoga “ off the mat”. Their passion for it shines through during class when they make sure each of us are in proper alignment and getting the

I decided to start my resolution a month early and signed up for their new student special $50 for a month of unlimited yoga. This allowed me to try all of the different teachers and really get comfortable with the studio. The teachers are all varied and their different styles reflect their classes. It is not intimidating at all for new members. I will definitely be continuing my resolution into 2018.

South Street Yoga has created a truly special yoga community in Morristown and has become a second home to me! The yoga classes range from restorative to invigorating, and the teachers are sensitive to any limitations or special requests in the class. SSYN is committed to making yoga accessible for all: alongside their classes on pilates and flow yoga, the Chair Yoga course welcomes yogis that may be physically limited.
I am so impressed with the work done here and recommend the studio to anyone looking for a one-time class or long term community!

I have practiced at this studio for the last several months and I have no complaints. I am treated like part of the family, as is every practitioner there- or anyone that walks through those doors. The owner is heavily involved in the community, and is one of the most kind and giving people I know. She goes above and beyond to create a welcoming atmosphere and make everyone feel at home.
The studio is a low-key, intimate studio with no egos. It's somewhere to just get away after a long day (or before your day begins), and simply practice. A place to just be able to get into your meditation

I'm a newcomer to the yoga scene and found this studio to be very welcoming. Please disregard negative comments about the owner Debbie, she is friendly and kind and takes an interest in her clients.
The studio is below a restaurant and sometimes there can be distracting noise from above but this is not a deal breaker for me. There is a variety of classes and instructors, I suggest you give them a try!

I have regularly practiced yoga for a few years- mostly with YTTP and my YMCA when I lived in NY. I moved to NJ to be with my fiance :)
I really like the variety of teachers and class styles here, there are a lot of opportunities for modifications and poses utilize props creatively. It's good to change things up as I've done strictly vinyasa for a while- it is challenging for me.
I was a little disappointed in one teacher- the class was excellent but she was complaining afterwards with a student about the weight of some Olympic tennis player??? She also made sure to point out that

I practiced at this yoga studio for 2 years when it was The Lotus Circle. It is in a basement under a restaurant and is always noisy, but the teachers were great. As soon as the new owner took over it went down hill FAST. There was a big change in staff. That rite there speaks volumes. The new owner, Debbie is totally unyoga like. She sizes you up when you walk in the door and is insulting.
There are so many great studios in the area. I'd skip this one for sure.

After my wife introduced this studio to me, I start to like yoga practice. I was surprised from Jane's review. I guess that was before SSY got a new owner.
First, it does not have a best location comparing to others in the downtown area, no views, small... but convenience due to the parking lots in the back. The studio is at a basement level and the upstair restaurant makes some noise sounding like moving furniture. It can get hot without fans on. The instructors I have met, Ellen, Pat, etc, are awesome. I was impressed that the quality time floating around here whether 10 people or two

BEWARE!!!!!!!! Obnoxious owner asked me to move my mat to make room for hers while we were meditating (and before the first ohm), causing me to ask two others to move. She then snickered at me. NO joke. I arrived at the studio in a good mood, but after her snide remarks and laughing at me when I signed in, it ruined my practice. From her yoga "practice," form, and body, it is easy to discern that she is not a yogi. But that is not the worst part. I tried to use up my pre-paid month. After another client and I discussed her obnoxious attitude, she emailed me and told me not to
