The tenant is responsible for their gas heating usage, their electric usage, and their water and sewage usage. Tenants have multiple options for their laundry. Tenants may use the laundry room on the first floor. Tenants may also bring their own stackable washer/dryer unit to use in their own apartment.

There are definitely better options around Oakland for the price.
Here are just a few of the issues that have come up in my 2 years living here:
The walls, floors, and ceilings are very thin. If you don’t live on the top floor, the stomping from the tenants above you will be so loud that the ceiling lights will shake. You will hear your neighbors having conversations and be able to understand what they are saying, word for word.
If you live near the gym, you will feel the floor vibrate when someone uses the treadmill and when weights are dropped. There are no restrictions for gym hours. I

When I was moving from NJ to PA, Portal Place apartment's staff was extremely flexible in working with my schedule to send me information, virtual tours, and available for any questions and concerns. I have been living for a year now and continue my second one. I have enjoyed living here because it is exactly what I signed up and more. It is very close to a lot of restaurants and stores. The landlord communicates with you very quickly for any extra accommodations. I am absolutely happy with my decision and cannot think of any other place I would rather live.

Our daughter recently moved to Portal Place Apartments from out-of-state. She LOVES it there, and plans to live there for the next two years while working on a federal research grant. The location is a 10-minute walk to work, it's right off the highway system and easy to drive anywhere, the apartment is spacious and has high ceilings -- very comfortable and attractive, and her apartment backs up to a nature area so it's very pretty, quiet, and especially enjoyable on her balcony. We worked with Kimberly, one of the property managers, and she is very helpful, efficient and sweet -- we are confident

I've been living here for three years, and I'd like to say Portal Place is the best apartment you can find near Pitt campus. It offers the largest space you can find with affordable price. The management here are nice and helpful, they even allow you to move furniture prior to your lease for months with no charge. For anyone who is looking for a place to enjoy your school life, I recommend you Portal place and believe you will fell in love with this place.

I use to live at portal place and loved it. The apartment is newly built so the building is in great shape. The management, I would say, is probably the best management I've lived under. Kim was always quick to respond to our requests and made it extremely easy for my roommates and I to move in and out. In addition, she was always accommodating towards our time constraints as some of us were full time workers.
