The Family Yoga Center
Yoga props can aid in the taking of yoga poses. Yoga props can also educate the body to create greater muscle awareness and allow students to deepen their poses. Props will enhance your yoga experience and create greater effectiveness of the asanas. I've spent a lifetime thinking of myself as hopelessly uncoordinated and awkward (and nearly every gym teacher I ever had made it a point to reinforce this belief).

I didn't think I could ever belong in a yoga class, even though I've wanted to try yoga for years. I must have driven past The Family Yoga Center for a year before I worked up the nerve to attend a class. From the very first session, Jennifer made me feel welcome and supported, but more than that, she made me feel like I belong.
Services
These classes are designed for students that are familiar with the proper alignment of postures. Added to many of the standard postures are more challenging ones, Headbalance (Salamba Sirsasana), Forearm Balance (Pinca Mayurasana), Upward Bow (Urdhva Dhanurasana), and Shoulderstand (Salamba Sarvangasana).
Yoga for the Special Child is gentle and therapeutic -- safe for babies and children with Down Syndrome, Microcephaly, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and other developmental disabilities. These methods also provide an effective treatment for children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, ADHD and other Learning Disabilities.
This intensive and comprehensive program provides in-depth information and fundamental tools for teaching yoga. It can serve as the foundation for one's journey towards becoming a certified yoga teacher, or can support students who wish to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga. Applicants should have a minimum of one year of yoga practice.

Jennifer is one of the most knowledgeable and experienced instructors on Long Island with a strong background in alignment, anatomy, and modifications. She’s a yoga teacher for the wisdom seekers, the nervous beginners, the recouping injured, the athletes, the aging, as well as the experienced yogi. Her classes are well thought out and planned (not shot from the hip). They are thematic and taught with intention. You’ll leave her studio feeling nurtured, stronger, healthier, and asking yourself, “How soon can I get back here?”.

This is the best studio! It is a place of peace and comfort and compassion. Wherever you are in your life, your abilities, you are met and encouraged. If something doesn't work for you, there is a Plan B and a Plan C and so on until you and your body are able to adjust and move and accomplish what you can. Everyone is supported, no matter what their own abilities or accomplishments are. I highly recommend taking yoga at the Family Yoga Center!

I have been doing yoga for over 10 years and The Family Yoga Center has it all!! Jen is extremely knowledgeable about the human body and makes every yoga pose accessible to all. I can only make it 1x a week but that alone does wonders for my mind, body and soul.
