First off, before anyone from management responds with the canned "we care...please reach out to discuss your concerns..." we have reached out. Multiple times. And are far from satisfied with the responses.
Upon receiving our keys, we went to do the move-in inspection, and discovered several issues. Most notably being massive damage to the floors in almost every single room. Their initial solution to fixing the 7-inch gash in the living room floor was to literally paint the floor with grey paint. It obviously looks like trash. When we expressed our displeasure, they said they'd schedule the flooring

My husband and I celebrated our 20th year anniversary and we decided to utilize the rental apartment at 1001 South State. To say our stay was amazing was an understatement. The staff was very attentive and accommodating to all of our needs. The apartment felt just like home. Everything was clean and to our liking. We will definitely be back!

Wow what a change here !! In the last months, we have nightly pot smoking parties, no need to go anywhere else to get your fix, just open your door or bathroom vents and breath it in! Nothing better than that good old skunk weed in your lungs! I'm pretty sure you can score pot here to save going out to buy it. And the great all night partying most weeks! No need to head downtown when 1001 is the place to be. Great views, great all night parties and drugs it doesn't get better. We have just moved into this wonderful apartment. Besides the wonderful views of the skyline and lake, I'm really impressed by the staff from the leasing office. Yesterday we had some unusual requests regarding the apartment, which we weren't expecting any work-around, but resolved in just hours (should have taken days) with the help of Bobby and other staff in the leasing office. Thank you guys very much!

1001 was a really nice place to live, amenities were great even during covid, maintenance requests were dealt with very quickly, staff was very nice and polite. Lived there almost for a year, me and my husband moved because we were expecting a baby and needed a bigger place. I would recommend this place to people, apartments are great, full of light, very centric, has a target and Trader Joe's very close, there's a pet's grooming (Maus) amazing next to the park where you can walk your dog (we have a pug so that was very important for us). I had terrible experience with Lynn, she charged me $500 pet fee without prior notice, when I was taking care of my friend's dog for a weekend; she offers no help when I am in a bad roommate situation and said i could be evicted if the leasing office get involved, even though it was not even my fault.
I loved 1001 but now the staff is so awful I decided to leave.

Great maintenance and front desk staff, but very poor quality in management staff. No ownership or sense of responsibility. Constantly exhibit the “that’s not my job” complex. Complete lack of customer service and not a care in the world for Tenant satisfaction. They provide much better customer service to dog-walkers and cleaning staff and follow incoherent policies that lack both transparency and critical thinking.

We lived in this building for 5 years. We loved the unit we were in. The maintenance staff is incredible - timely and fixed everything within days of any issues cropping up. The front desk staff was generally kind and often excited to see residents.

It really pains me to write this negative review. But after 1.5 years of complete dissatisfaction, I truly want people to know this information prior to choosing 1001 S State as their home. Don't do it!! I couldn't agree more w the recent negative comments below (e.g. from Winnie). Amenities are great. Front desk and maintenance are great. My first year here was great, but that had so much to do w my neighbors. They were actually considerate. For the past 1.5+ years now, I've had the most inconsiderate neighbors and management holds them to NO accountability. I feel like I live in

Overall was pretty satisfied with living in the building. The front desk staff was so nice and Irina in the leasing office was also so helpful. But I brought my sisters dog over to keep me company, take him to the dog park and enjoy my last week in the building. Since I would be moving out, I had a friend over and the dog was really excited to have someone playing with him so I got a noise complaint. My time at 1001 S State was nothing short of ideal. The staff couldn't be more pleasant, the building is kept clean and the amenities are top notch. The experience here was truly unique and filled with daily spectacular views of the city, I highly recommend watching storms from the rooftop deck. The panorama view of the Chicago skyline through to Navy Pier then clear out to Lake Michigan made for the best Instagram pics.
Couldn't recommend this building more to anyone looking to live in the South Loop. Thank you 1001 S State for a great experience!

Where do I being - shopping for a new place to live during the current pandemic is never ideal, however the team at 1001 South State (Lynn K - being the absolute rockstar she is) made the process second to none. I reached out and was able to see everything I was looking for virtually in the same day - to seeing the space in person the next (and feeling more than comfortable doing so)! The soundproofing in this building is a joke. You will keep hearing it if your neighbor plays music or turn up their tv volume. Every time you complain to the management office they will just ask you to call the front desk whenever it happens and the front desk will make a call to stop them, but they never try to get to the bottom of it. After each call we already woken up and just can't go back to sleep easily. Not to mention you can hear dog barks and sometimes even people's conversation through the bathroom vent. I lived at 1001 for about a year. It's been the best place I've lived at in Chicago. And I've lived in quite a few. The leasing process was quick and efficient and very accommodating. The front door staff with Nakia and Andrea and everyone was so friendly and always greeted you with a smile. The Unit was beautiful with stunning views and upgraded features. The pool and deck always clean and i loved sitting out there. I used the gym plenty and it was great and had pretty much everything you needed and never too over crowded. Became too pricey for me but i love the south loop and printers

We lived in this building for 18 months and it was wonderful. Nicolas in the office was always ready and willing answer any questions and his help was always appreciated. Nakia at the front desk was a ray of sunshine and very efficient at her job as were Andria and all of the others !! The maintenance personnel were quick to respond to any problem and very professional. We had no complaints about the building management and appreciated all that were employed there.

1001 is the best building I've lived in. Its the best deal for a luxury high rise downtown. The staff is incredibly friendly. Concierge is even more so. Maintenance is timely and polite. The amenities are fantastic. The rooftop views are great. The utilities are reasonable compared to the rest of the industry and their internet options are among the best in the city.

The apartments themselves are nice--the finishes seem fairly high-quality, and the views are (mostly) pretty good. The door staff is also awesome.

As you can see in the attached picture, the pool and hot tub seem to be basically forgotten about by management in the winter months. This doesn't affect me directly (since both the pool and hot tub are closed during the winter) but my unit overlooks the pool deck, and its somewhat disgusting to look at for eight months of out of the year.

Hard working and professional staff have shown courtesy in accommodating residents at 1001 South State. Nakia has been very kind and welcoming (going above and beyond) in helping with work-living accomodations. Andrew and his staff of Carol, Nick, Nicky have been very flexible as well. Main thing, is everyone has made an effort to show residents the attention based on individual needs.

1001 is a cool building. Great views and amenities. However...for the sake of honesty, they have a serious dog and noise problem. I've complained about dogs barking so much that it feels like I live in a kennel. The dog barking comes through the vents, it's excessive and when I told one of the leasing agents about it, they had the nerve to tell me to close my bathroom door to drown out the sound of the barking through the vents. But I think she was filling in from another building.
Again, great building. Not wonderful when it comes to noise and them enforcing their noise policy.

I've lived in the building for about seven months now and really love it. Everyone who works here is very friendly, we've had a couple of super minor maintenance issues and someone showed up within something like 2 hours to deal with them. The door people are very nice/considerate and learned our faces quickly.
The amenities of the building are really nice--the gym is REALLY nice and the pool/hot tub area are too.
