Here at Helping Hands Rehab, we know that people value the use of their hands and any loss of function through injury or accident may have a devastating effect on their lives. Helping Hands Rehab is a privately, therapist owned outpatient occupational therapy clinic.
The concept for Helping Hands Rehab was created in 2011 on the belief that all patients referred for upper extremity rehabilitation should be treated in a professional, ethical manner, by a therapist and not by a "therapy care extender" who is not fully trained or certified.

People value the use of their hands and any loss of function through injury or accident may have a devastating effect on their lives. Anyone with an injury wants the very best of treatment to assure maximal recovery. The Certified Hand Therapist credential offers assurance to the public that the therapist has achieved the highest level of competency in the profession and stays up to date with practice within the field.
Helping Hands Rehab provides exceptional upper extremity rehabilitation and specialized hand therapy to patients of all ages and conditions involving the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist and hand. We treat a wide range of conditions with the goal of getting you back to YOUR life. Patients receive comprehensive care and the most effective, evidence-based treatments to reduce the time spent in therapy.
We see preschool and elementary aged children who have been identified (usually by teachers or OT's in the school) as having weak hands, generalized weakness in the upper extremities, difficulty writing, or cutting with a scissors, or fine motor coordination/delays. Usually, the child is NOT eligible for OT services in their school (this may be due to not having any other issues, or it isn't "bad" enough to warrant an IEP, etc).
Who should receive hand therapy? Patients who benefit from treatment include those with traumatic injuries involving bone, tendon, ligament and soft tissue trauma. Trauma is not necessarily limited to a specific accident and may be secondary to cumulative insult to soft tissue as in tendonitis, tenosynovitis and various nerve compression syndromes.
At this time, Helping Hands Rehab only has occupational therapy (and Certified Hand Therapists). You will need to check with your insurance provider to verify that OT is covered in an outpatient setting. As a courtesy, we will check your coverage and limitations with your insurance company, but you are ultimately responsible for verifying your coverage.
