Yummy House Bakery
Welcome to Yummy House Bakery since 1998 we have been serving healthy Hong Kong style cakes, buns, pastries and drinks in the heart of Seattle's Chinatown-International District. Spur the greatness of Hong Kong-style fresh coffee with our tasty buns. The serenity of the bakery relaxes the customer while tasting a cup of perfumed coffee, mixing the smell of chocolates and cakes.

This is the place where your stress will be relieved. Sponge cake with a layer of sweetened, mashed taro, all covered with fluffy whipped cream. Fresh Mixed Fruit Taro Cake with a layer of sweetened, mashed taro, all covered with fluffy whipped cream.
Services
I'm in love with Hong Kong-style breads and pastries but since my mom is from HK, I have high standards - this place takes the cake! We just shared a cake with durian filling, the food even Andrew Zimmern @chefaz from "Bizarre Foods" @bizarrefoods couldn't deal with. Stopped at Yummy House Bakery, located across the street from Uwajimaya and Oasis!

Best spot in Seattle for HK style pastries. Favorites that we keep coming back for : sponge cakes, egg tarts, cocnut bun (not the coconut cream but the original), and custard buns. Make sure to go after 11 if you want some fresh sponge cakes! The Chinese style cakes are also a crowd pleaser for special occasions.

Great cake! We have been coming here for years for special occasions. Even though it looks boarded up , it is still open. Wonderful Covid protocols. Highly recommend!

Ordered a taro custom cake for my friend's birthday and was able to get it done the same day! Super pretty as well! It was so light and fluffy, and it had the perfect amount of sweetness. The taro filling was so good!! $32 for a 6-inch and we had about 1/3 leftover after we divided one slice for 5 people. Highly recommend!

The egg custards here are amazing! Flaky and buttery and just perfect. The pork buns were lousy, however. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but they A) had the tiniest drop of meat inside and B) the meat had no flavor whatsoever. I took my parents here and pork buns are pretty much their favorite food to eat. They said these are up there with the worst they've had. So in my limited experience, I would say go the sweets but not the buns.

I get a durian cake for my dad every year for his birthday. We re tried other bakeries but this place, by far, has the most flavorful fruit filling. The cake and cream is light and not too sweet. Special order cakes have been made the day of. While ordering on the phone I made sure to speak slowly and clearly since the shop seemed a little loud and hard to hear. They also have an email which I've also used to order.
Street parking but if you really need it there's a pay lot cattywampus to it

Pastries here are pretty good (just a bit sweeter than my personal liking). The place is a bit hard to find due to the boarding up, so be aware that they look like a closed down establishment. I love their COVID measures though.

I often go here for their egg tarts. Hands down some of the best in town IMO. My bf ordered the fresh strawberry cake for me and it was so good. The cake was so fluffy, spongy, and light. The whipped cream frosting is my favorite, but can be a bit much for those who aren't a fan of frosting/ whipped cream. It's not too sweet which is what makes it so easy to eat, but the strawberries add the tartness to it. This is a 6 inch cake, it was about $32. It can easily serve 4-5 people depending on how thin you slice the cake. I'll definitely be ordering my cakes in the future from here

Bought a traditional Chinese bbq pork bun. This was the worst pork bun I've ever eaten. The filling was skimpy and lacks flavor. The woman behind the register was impatient. Go try Cake House around the corner. They are nicer and the pastries are much more flavorful.

I never came here pre covid, so take my review with a grain of salt.

When I came here, the windows were completely boarded up and there were only 2 semi filled counters with baked goods to choose from. The whole place was pretty dark because of the boarded up windows and no one else was there when I went. I will say they did a good job with covid precautions.

I bought an egg tart, cocktail bun, and hotdog bun. I don't know if I came on an off day, but the baked goods didn't taste very fresh and I was a little disappointed by their cocktail bun. Their egg tart was very good though

We got a 8" mocha custom cake with strawberry filling and mocha frosting for a birthday. The cake was mind blowing -- both in terms of taste and looks. The cake was very soft and light. As for the design, the pictures speak for themselves (got the cake toppers from Amazon). The bakery staff are amazing and were able to do a great job at the execution of the design for the cake. Absolutely recommend this place.

This bakery takes the cake for COVID precautions. The transparent divider they made between customers in the front of the house and everything else in the back of the house seems like it keeps the business safe. They slide your order through a flap in the divider and the only thing the customer touches is the credit card reader.

I am not really fluent in Hong Kong style bakeries, nor am I really a fan of cake or Hong Kong style breads, but I wanted to try this place out because small businesses need our help during COVID. Here's my review:

I stumbled upon their mango mousse cake, and it is the perfect treat to beat the heat. A couple light slices of cake with generous layers of fresh mango mousse, studded with chunks of mango, and topped with mango glaze. If this doesn't spell summer, what does?

I love that you can buy them by the slice if you don't want the whole cake, especially if you want to save room for their other baked goods like the huge baked BBQ pork bun or the hefty cocktail bun stuffed with coconut filling. Look at the size of that cocktail bun!

The selection is a bit limited at the moment, but they have

Times, they are changing, not for the better. Curse you, COVID and riots!

Yummy House has been a Cantonese bakery in the Chinatown International District for many years, providing deliciousness of buns, breads, cakes, and more. Because of COVID and riots, Yummy House stands as a shadow (figuratively and in actuality) of its former self and they need your help!

First, about their pastries, think pineapple buns, cocktail buns, baked pork buns, and so much more. My favorite is their paper wrapped sponge cake. I buy them from here (and from Uwajimaya back when they carried YH items). Next

This place was so good! I had their egg tarts, tiramisu cheesecake, and chestnut cake, and they were all super good. Price wasn’t too bad either. Lady was super nice and prompt as well. Btw it may look boarded up and closed but they’re very much open.

If the review was just for the food, I would have given this place a 3 star, but their excellent service definitely beyond my expectations.

I had to get a last minute cake for my niece birthday and I placed an order at about 10am. After a few issues, everything was done and ready by 10:40am. I was amazed that they were able to accommodate for a cake and follow up with me with all the issues along the way.

We ended ordering a strawberry cake and it was good. It was a standard cake with lots of strawberry and they were able to customize the cake to my liking. The cake had a lot of cream but the

Dim Sum King was out of egg tarts and I stopped by Yummy House Bakery to try one of theirs. $1.25 for an egg tart. It was ok. The egg tart wasn't overly sweet and the crust isn't my personal favorite. I'm a big fan of egg tart shells that are flaky. The shell on this one reminded me more of a fruit tart shell. Will probably pass on my next visit.

It's self serve. Grab a tray & tongs and pick the pastry of your choice. Once you're done, just pay & they'll box or bag your items. Cash or card is accepted.

I'd probably be back to try their other pastries

The cakes here are SO yummy! Craving one as I write this review.

We ordered a large custom mixed fruit cake for my grad party the same week we had our party. Fed about 50+ people. The cake was nice and fluffy and the fruits filling was cantaloupe and honeydew (wish it was more varied like the toppings). Toppings were peaches, pineapple, blueberry, strawberry, and grapes. Cream was just the perfect sweetness. Beautiful and simple design. We chose purple and yellow colors for UW. They were prompt and easy to work with (although the cashier lady who took notes for our cake had very limited English

I was craving for strawberry shortcake on my birthday the other week and was disappointed to realize that my usual go-to bakery, A Piece of Cake, had closed. I ended up on a mini quest to find a suitable substitute and was so pleased to nab the last slice of fresh strawberry cake at Yummy House!

While I wasn't the most impressed by the variety of goodies offered or by the decor/set-up of the place in general, I did absolutely love this cake! Super light, not too sweet, and delicious but not guilt-inducing.

I really am sad that A Piece of Cake is no more, but I'm happy there's

While everything looked delicious, I got an egg tart and it really missed the mark. The pastry dough was not flaky nor crispy and crunch. The egg custard inside is also not up to par. It is lacking in flavor and the texture wasn't correct. The only upside is the decor is nice, lots of variety, and extremely inexpensive.

I ordered my oldest child's high school graduation cake from here in 2016 because we'd had individual pieces other times over the years. The cake did not disappoint; it was beautiful and beyond delicious. All guests raved how good it was. I'll be ordering another for my youngest's upcoming graduation.

Yummy bakery, indeed! My friends and I came here for a treat, and initially, I was craving an egg custard tart; but soon learned in my visit they had sold out, which they normally do in the first half of the day (noted!). Therefore, I decided to try something new, the Wife Cake.

The Wife Cake is a small pastry, made with almond paste and winter melon. I don't like overly sweet desserts, so this Wife Cake was a nice treat. Not that sweet, but sweet enough for it to be a dessert. The winter melon flavor was obvious in the cake and I really liked that it was made with almond paste, which
