Sons of a trail advocate, the Quam brothers saw the need for a bicycle club that wouldn't just organize recreational group rides, it would also promote the development of bicycle trails in Washington. Thirty people, united by a love of bicycling, attended the first public meeting and together, they grew the club, engaging a membership of 300 people within just two years.

From the time of registration until my team crossed the finish line, everything about STP 2018, an event put on by Cascade, was prefect! All of the pre-race communication was relevant and helpful. We were giving clear and concise pre-race instructions which was critical because this is a two day event that starts in Seattle and ends in Portland. During the ride all of the aid stations were well equipped and staffed adequately. It turned out being extremely hot and multiple additional accommodations were made to provide not only adequate hydration, but cooling towels and cooling stations. And lastly

I'm not an avid bicyclist by any means, matter of fact i'm a complete beginner so i don't really have anything or anyone to compare CBC to, however I've taken part in in the STP Bicycle ride two years in a row now. Both experiences were good ones. The people you meet prior to, during, and post ride are always so nice and helpful. The volunteers and support vehicles at every stop are nothing short of amazing.
The organization and route for STP has been great both years - i managed to finish the first year but had to drop out on year two because of 99 degree heat. However

Apparently their ride registration policy of no refunds and no transfers includes not only a registration for a ride, but each person listed on a registration as well; so be aware that if the other rider or riders on your registration cannot attend for any reason you will be forced to ride alone, despite you maintaining the registration and fees, and they'll keep the money for the trouble of having received it.
This seems criminal to me, but hey, apparently if you put something in writing then you're covered.

Be aware: If you register for a ride, and have multiple people on your registration, if any of those people cannot attend for whatever reason, the club will refuse to allow an alternate rider, even if the alternate riders are registered members of the club.
When asked why there is no reason given outside of following policy. This is classic money grab nonsense.

Took the adult learn-to-ride / road riding safety course and that was the start of my adult cycling life (5 years ago). Been riding free group rides, CTS, and major rides annually. A bunch of my friends and I are S-M-A-R-T riders. The club does pretty awesome advocacy work. We are lucky to have this club in our town.

While I greatly appreciate the work you actually DO for the Seattle to Portland bike event every year, you and your staff need to get a little more involved with the actual on road events. Very few of your participants obey the rules and laws of the roads, be it state highway or back county roads. The amount of garbage, human feces, and other bodily functions that are left along the route on peoples private property is inexcusable and quite frankly disgusting. I will be contacting the Washington state patrol again prior to next years event. Please educate and police YOUR registered riders on etiquette

My 11 year old daughter had been trying for years to learn how to ride a bike. Daddy tried all the tricks he knew. Finally called William - per a referral..and amazing, with just one lesson, she was riding! Just different to have a professional teach than Daddy! William was so great with her! I'll admit, I had "happy tears" seeing her ride! Now we are enjoying family bike rides! Thank you William!

The cascade bike club puts on fantastic rides. Frim the Seattle to Portland ride to the Seattle to Vancouver ride as well as the one day rides like the Summer Century and the High Pass Challenge to cool local rides like the Emerald City Ride where we ride on closed Express Lanes!
The events profits go back into the club and towards bike advocacy.
Way to go!

I registered in late May for the RSVP ride on August 16-17. At the end of last month, I developed a medical condition and was told by the doctor that I could not ride. I tried to cancel having paid a total of $390 for my wife and I, and I was told that there was no medical waiver, despite the fact that this was more than two weeks before the ride occurred. I was also not given the option of waiving my participation in this year's ride and using the fee toward next year's ride, nor was I given an option for a partial refund. There was absolutely no consideration on the part of this "

Just received my bicycle helmet there today. The vibe in the office is as NW as you could get: very casual and friendly. Hannah ran through all of the proper steps of a proper helmet fitting with me, which made me realize that the majority of us are most likely wearing our helmets wrong.
I applaud them for their Education Foundation programs, such as the Helmet Safety Campaign. Thanks for giving free helmets to those who are in need:).

I've attended indoor cycling class for 3-4 years. Last September, one of my cycling instructors invited me to Cascade Classic Color ride with her and her partner. That was my first connection with Cascade Bicycle Club.
After running and cycling indoor for that long, I've set up another goal to challenge myself by doing STP. Therefore, I joined Cascade Bicycle Club. I paid my membership $65 for two years. I thought the fee is very reasonable. There are a lot of benefits being a member:
1) All the Cascade Classic rides open to members first and get $5 discount for each ride
2) Cascade

This group has been a home for many healthy and fun bike rides.
I used to go regularly 4 or 7 times per summer. I was always a bit behind the moderate group as my bike is heavy .. and I never switched from mountain biek tires to those thin things. I didn't mind. I was strong and fast and there was alway s one or 2 folks as slow as me.
They have programs for bicycle safety and for kids.

Are yours Schrader or Presta? I now know which ones I have.
I took a class tonight called "Ancient Secrets of Bicycle Repair Part 1: Fix a Flat". It was held at the Cascade Bicycle Club offices at Sandpoint near Magnuson Park.
The instructor (Davy) was helpful, knew the subject matter, and was able to get through the course material in the allotted time. He also had a sense of humor which put many novices at ease. I learned a lot of good tips in regards to a pre-ride safety check-up and fixing flats and changing tires.
Any of these bike maintenance courses taught by the CBC

I have been a member of Cascade Bicycle Club since I participated in the STP (Seattle To Portland) when I was 12.
It is the largest cycling club in the United States with over 7,000 members. Through advocacy and education, it has been a big influence in turning Seattle into the bicycle-friendly city it is today.
Cascade does an outstanding job hosting the STP, which is the largest cycling event in the US w/ 9,000 riders this year.
If you live in the Northwest, cycle, and want to be a part of the grandest community of bikers ever, join Cascade.
