January 2022: Wanted to add that I recently had (mend) overhaul my Pereira mixte, and not only did (mend) return that 12-year-old bike to like-new condition, their very observant and detail-oriented mechanics also found some barely noticeable cracks in the rim of the rear wheel that could have, eventually, left me seriously stranded. The new wheel is perfect, and their suggestion to replace my old BB-7s mechanical disc brakes with new Spykes (and compressionless cable housing) was brilliant--the braking is more responsive and powerful than before, silent, and smooth. Oh yes, and the new bright

I wanted to take my pedals apart myself but didn't have the right tool. I went in there and they explained the risks involved with DYI pedal service, and some safe practices, and then let me borrow their tool to work on it myself in the store! Super nice of them to let me do that!
I have also had my bike serviced here in the past and their service has been superb!

I took my bicycle to Mend for a long overdue tune-up. This was at the end of the week, and the bike mechanic was patient in explaining just what work needed to be done and also indicated flexibility on when the work would be done (asking me if I needed the bike for the weekend--I did not). When I picked up the bicycle at the beginning of the next week, it seemed to ride better than when it was new. Cost, which came in under the estimate, was reasonable for the extensive work done as well as replacement parts.

Had a really great first experience here. Shop had way more selection of product than I believe possible for its size, prices were very close to what I'd looked at online, and their installation was fast and very reasonably priced. Definitely will be my new go to place, and may wean me off of online bike part stores.

Cool LBS near a family member I was visiting. She recently bought her first bike and I was excited to grab a few essential bike items for her. The bike mechanic was friendly and knowledgeable on his first-hand advice for purchasing a floor pump. I also bought a small Allen key wrench set and chain lube as well.

The visit got weird towards the end of my time when I was checking out their tire inventory (specifically the price of GP5000 TL cause I'm a bike nerd and like to support local bike shops as much as I can).

I was told by an employee that I wasn't allowed to stand by the tire

Great local bike store! I’ve brought my bike there many times for tune ups and to have flats fixed, and they’re always very quick and efficient. They’ve also got some great bike accessories like mud flaps.

My bike was vandalized at work by a(Secret Society of Bullies). I'm not a mechanic so I didn't know what was wrong only that my back tire had been flattened, nicks on the right handlebar (throttle it's electric), and my seat was attempted to be cut. Naturally, the police can't address this when there are no witnesses or cameras.
The staff was extremely kind, and helpful at a time I really needed to experience kindness. They did an excellent job, and in less time than was promised. The price was less than expected, they adjusted the brakes because they were loose. The bike is 2 months old and I

Got quoted 50$ for simple bike repair and was charged 100$ and told that there where other problems that sounded very simple for them to have just fixed aswell if they where already working on bike. Somewhat rude staff, first woman I talk to was nice! Would have liked to have liked!!

I only review when the service is either great or awful.
Glad to say my experience at Mend Bicycles was great!!
My bike is a bit complicated and can be cranky. A electric peddle assist kit on a modified Bike Friday. And it needed attention.
Talked with James about my needs and concerns. Two days later it was ready. My first ride had me smiling. Not only was everything working but it looked so much better after all the winter crud had been removed. He also had a few good recommendations that I will be following up.
Great service. Reasonable cost.
I definitely wii be going back.

Incredibly friendly, deeply knowledgeable and fairly priced. Although you shouldn't expect them to be able to handle a request same day (they're busy during this worldwide run on bikes and pandemic supply chain disruption), they will if they can. I was the benefactor of such a quick turn around and it enabled a ride on my weekend getaway. Don't be fooled by the small(ish) shop - they do it all with the expertise and professionalism of any shop in town. I've found my new favorite LBS!

Great service from drop off to pick up! This is the best place I found since moving to the PNW and I definitely had less than stellar interactions with most shops until I found Mend.

Rude counter boy needs a hug and Happy Meal. If you don't like your job do something else. But before you find a better job, please update your store's website so people don't drive all the way there to pick up things you do not have in stock.

Horrible. Wife brought her bike in. Repair took two almost two weeks because they stated they "were busy." Phone calls went unanswered. Store hours in emails and on the door didn't match the hours they were open. Once my wife made contact with them to get her bike back the staff was rude, inconsiderate and condescending. In this time they should be thankful for being busy and having customers. This level of service assures me they will not get my business again.
UPDATE:
Not long after this review was posted my wife was contacted by the owner, James, and given a full refund and an apology. I give

Our family loves (mend)! We have bought multiple bikes and accessories here and used them for repairs many times. James, the owner, is awesome and really cares about his customers. We have had a good experience with everyone who works here - it feels like their suggestions are honest and I never feel up-sold. I also appreciate that they will take trade-ins and sell refurbished bikes.

After a brief virtual encounter with a SF bike courier, I got inspired to get my mountain bike back into a proper functional status. Found Mend Bicycles, where else but Yelp, of course! Great stellar 5 star reviews, so thank you fellow Yelpers for steering me in the right direction. Yes, pun intended.

I called last Saturday 5/2/20, polite and professional service on the phone with my customer info entered into their system. I brought my bike onsite within the last hour of their business day. This indie shop is located behind the NE corner of 75th and 35th in the Wedgwood neighborhood. They have

After my recent confusion as to what was happening with the bike dropped off over a week ago, James wrote to me and figured out what went awry. Turns out the bike was ready when it was estimated to be ready (Saturday) but the email was inputted incorrectly so we didn't get the memo. We were able to pick up the bike today without issue and everything looked and worked great - took it out for a ride as soon as we got home. Thankful for great customer service and a friendly neighborhood business during this super busy time for them! Will definitely be back in the future for all bike needs!

I'm grateful to have such a great bike shop so close to home. James is consistently kind and patient with my kids and I as we ask endless questions, try on all the things and take a long time (weeks sometimes) to decide whether to buy. He's given me solid advice about how to extend the life of one of my vintage bikes while also being very clear with me about danger signs I need to watch for when it crosses from merely old to unsafe. His crew includes some sort of wizards - my bikes ride better after their tune-ups than they did new.

It's so wonderful to be able to hobble a disabled

We brought our bikes to Mend to get them checked before the summer and the mechanics were very knowledgeable and honest. They did not try to sell us stuff we didn't need. We got our reconditioned bikes back a day earlier than expected and the service fees were very reasonable. They did a great job with our bikes. Thanks!

Knowledgable and friendly. Brought in two bikes that hadn't been ridden in years. They explained clearly what was needed for a tune up. Further, when one bike needed some additional unexpected labor and a replacement part, they tried to reach out to confirm. We didn't get the message in time, but they wanted to stick to their promised deadline, so they did the work anyway for free (we just paid for the part). Appreciated the gesture. We will surely be back. They also had a small but varied selection of used bikes for sale too.

This shop is a gift to the neighborhood. They have a good mix of used bikes for sale, parts, and a competent maintenance shop. They did an amazing job getting my 20 year old Cannondale back in commuting shape. I had the shifters replaced, a full tune up, and bike computer installed.

I called to make an appointment to bring my bike in for new brake pads/chain, and seemed to have a misunderstanding where I thought I couldn't make any appointment to have my bike serviced, so I ended up just bringing in my bike.

Despite no notice, I explained the situation and they were extremely helpful (by the way, it DOES help to call and set up an appointment first). They were able to accommodate me despite a busy weekend schedule and had an extremely fast turnaround. Most importantly, they did a great job on my bike.

Thanks again, Mend!

I had some complaints about a 4 year old bike that I had to bring back twice after a tuneup that didn't find the issues that had cropped up afterwards. Whether it was just bad timing for riding a lot after taking 2 seasons off, or didn't show up during Mend's tuneup, or REI's tuneup 7 months previous, Mend worked with me to make sure the bike was race ready, and that I was satisfied.
