Throughout the summer and fall of 2012, Sweet Bar Bakery has renovated the corner of the Packard Lofts building, breathing new life into the historic MacFarlane's Candy and Ice Cream showroom at 24th and Broadway. And this time, the quality and source of the ingredients will be as important as the taste.

Stopped by here to take home for breakfast treats for my parents and kinda robbed the store! Super friendly family owned business with a warm welcome and lovely customer service. They were patient through all of my needs - hehe. I ended up picking up crossaint, jalopeno cheddar bagel, ginger and something scone, carrot cake cupcake, salted caramel chocolate cake (mini 4"), and crumble bar. The only thing I ended up trying for now is the peanut butter cookie with raspberry filling and MY GOODNESS, I sure have been missing out on the right cookies! Had to cancel my order after I watched one of the cooks wipe the sweat off of his forehead, adjust his mask several times and proceed to handle the food with his bare hands. He never washed his hands, not even after preparing multiple orders. Beyond concerns of sanitation and cross-contamination; they hardly had any fresh pastries. You could tell that they're refrigerated display was broken. I don't understand how they're in operation. I try to support small businesses; especially those ran by POCs, but they're going to make someone sick.

I got two items delivered with Uber eats. The croissant with egg and cheese. The croissant itself was delicious. But the eggs were microwaved and appeared grey in color. I also ordered a sesame bagel with flavored cream cheese. Instead of that they delivered a bagel with cream cheese and jelly. Maybe in person it is better.

This has been part of my pandemic routine every other day for almost 2 years now, and this place and staff has become like a part of my community.
Fantastic coffee, and I love their bagels. They have a vegan option called tofutti instead of cream cheese - I recommend the jalapeno tofutti.
Their portobello tofu sandwiches are also incredible.

Stopped in this morning to get a much needed coffee after I came across this little cafe. I was pleasantly surprised as the prices are not only VERY reasonable but the quality was great and the service was friendly and quick!
I'm used to waiting at least 5 min for an order so I took a seat and as soon as I sat down, they called me for my bagel but to my surprise my cappuccino and cold brew were also ready, throughly shook and they all tasted great!
I'll be coming back!

The space is large, open, and welcoming, but no frills and no pretentiousness. Staff is also welcoming and genuinely care about their guests. I was asked multiple times if I enjoyed my sad which, which I did. There are many options - from sweet breads, to pastries, to sandwiches, to cakes. Everything is made in house, too, which is always a great sign.

I really liked the outside of this building so I peaked my head in and saw enormous croissants. Naturally I had to buy some. I got a plain and a ham and gruyere. The ham one is actually assembled there and then put in some sort of oven or sandwich press. We didn't eat then until the next morning but everything reheated perfectly and tasted phenomenal. My mom and I shared them for Mothers Day breakfast. They weren't just buttery, they was flavorful!
The staff was super helpful, willing to answer any questions and explain things. They also said everything is made in house.

Located on a busy street. Parking is a challenge. The employees are Fantastic. Very nice and Professional. I dont have to state that the Croissant and Pastries are legit because if you are checking this site you already know they are once of the best in Oakland. Coffee was also very good. do yourself a favor dont miss out on getting a Coffee and Croissant.

Sweet Bar is a small shop on the corner of Broadway St and 24th St. It is a go to breakfast place for bagels and coffee of locals. We got a cake last weekend which was the Salted Caramel Chocolate. It was light, not too rich, blended-well, and had a generous amount of cashews all over the cake
Due to a limited staff this pandemic, they are only offering advanced notice for their Salted Caramel Chocolate orders. Definitely recommend calling them ahead!

They do a really great job with PPE and Covid prevention practices. But let me say this place is the bombdigity! My partner and I stumbled upon it one Saturday morning and got bagel sandwiches. LET ME TELL YOU! It tasted so fresh, the veggies were all fresh, the bagels were so soft (so they are fresh frfr) and the shmear is always delicious. Basically I have become obsessed a bit but it just felt like home. I'm from Phoenix and it just reminds me of a place I used to frequent there and it brings me joy. Not to mention I always get the nova lox and it's fantastic, thick portions. Sadly
