Love the way this pizza and breads place give back to the community.
The "one pizza recipe" for the day,.. is brilliant. It's always a line, but the staff is very efficient and my wait has never been more than 15-20 minutes.
It's an oakland staple and everyone must eat here if visiting or live near.

Omg! Fresh baked goods, fresh bread and a pizza du jour. you can buy one slice or the whole pie. Get it prebaked and finish off at home. They have two locations. I go to the one on Lakeshore. Also, their home made soups are delicious. Sooo good. When you're too tired to cook, just hit Arizmendi. It's a cooperative. They all share the profits. Best thin crust pizza around.

Our favorite place for vegetarian pizza. The crust is chewy, and we just get whatever delicious combo they have that day, always good. We like to get half-baked and heat it up in the oven at home (10 minutes or so), so it's nice and hot when we eat.
It's a bakery, mostly takeout, limited seating.
Pick up some bread while you're there.

Such a shame. This place used to be amazing. Now they just close as-how whenever they feel like it. The selection I was used to daily is now only offered once a week. Seems like they use any opportunity to not come into work. If you don’t want to work, just close the business. Full of excuses I don’t care about. Grow up, be a business, or don’t.
Drove in specifically today because it’s the only day of the week they make what I like. Closed. No reason given. No sign. Just closed. Over it. Won’t be strung along anymore by a business that obviously doesn’t care about being in business

Always good! When you know darn well you are eating too many carbs you better make sure they are the best in quality and taste. When I am overseas all my vivid dreams are about Arizmendi pizza, cookies, and bread. When I'm in the Bay Area my first stop is my Mom and Arizmendi is next. Their food isn't just carb satisfying, its unique, creative, and flavorful. Some people dont like the pizza because it's a different take. You might not like everything, but there's something in there for everyone. Thank me later.

MENU AND FOOD: This review is for their pizza only! Arizmendi serves one type of pizza a day, by the slice or half (4 slices)/whole (8 slices) pies starting at 11AM; half-baked pies are also available to finish at home. Prepared on a sourdough crust with mozzarella cheese, pizza toppings are vegetarian only and are different each day. While they do occasionally have pizzas with traditional red sauce, most of their pizzas aren't made with a base sauce. Be sure to check out their Facebook page or website for their Pizza of the Day weekly menu.

This is a co-op run bakery where everything is made from scratch. The pizza here is always great and operations are incredible. This is truly an amazing concept - with so many baked goods to choose from. I only live in Oakland about four months out of the year and miss it tremendously when I'm away. The line can get a little long but it always moves quickly and everything is always fresh.
Arizmendi is an anchor of the community. They have created so many great memories for my friends and family.
Glad to see regular weekend hours again. :)

Never had a bad experience here! This is definitely the true definition of an employee owned bakery with absolute good vibes! When you've visited an establishment over 30 times and have never had one bad experience overall, that is a great thing in my book.
Notable delicious things from experience
-cherry corn scones!
-any cheese roll or special cheese roll!
-pizza of the day will never disappoint!
Try their soups if you've craving something delicious, fresh and nutrient packed!
Thank you Arizmendi OAK!

I love Arizmendi. With several of these co-op bakeries sprinkled around the Bay Area as well as other thin veggie options like Sliver and Cheeseboard, the Lakeshore location is my favorite. Their vegetarian pizzas are so consistently delicious regardless of the toppings and even better, their breakfast pizza on Sunday mornings make my weekend infinitely better.

This review is for the almond croissant
which I picked up on a leisurely jaunt.
It smelled so good in here, yes please,
like fresh basil and toasty cheese.
But I'm on a serious croissant mission
gotta try what these bakeries are dishing.
So, Arizmendi, let's see what you got,
no more plain left, so, almond croissant.
First impression, very light brown
but rich butter flavor didn't let me down.
Flakey, yes, but really dry and stale,
the almond filling was a complete fail.
I think the woman serving me
got basil oil onto my pastry.
I could barely finish it, it made it so strange

Arizmendi is like my favorite Uncle...consistent, high quality and not for everybody. Been eating at Arizmendi since 1998 and they never disappoint. If you want meat everything or the same pizza everytime then push on to LaneSplitter or Forge. This spot creates seasonal Vegetarian pizzas and a growing number of bakery options. Order a Hot or Light bake and consider adding more veggies to your diet...as long as they are covered in Oil and Parmesan!

Arizmendi Bakery has been one of my favorite bakeries to frequent since living in Oakland. It is a cooperative business—anotherwords, run by the people that work there.
They are very Covid minded. You line up outside the store front. You can look into the storefront window to see what pastries are available. When you get to the head of the line there is a list on the door telling you what pizza and soup is available for the day. The cookies were bundled together for easier buying.

Stopped by for a Thursday morning break and ordered a savory croissant, pizza focaccia (not photoed), and their ginger tonic. The croissant was flakey and delicious. I wish there was a bit more filling, but the amount of filling is by no means a deal breaker. The pizza focaccia was DELICIOUS. It had cheese, tom sauce, mozzarella, and additional cheeses, like gouda. Where I wished there was more filling on the croissant, the focaccia made up. I've previously ordered the ginger tonic hot, but it was too sweet for me. This trip, i decided to order cold unsweetened and figured I could add honey

Came by here the day before Thanksgiving. They ran out of their famous pies so I ended up getting their delicious cinnamon frosted pastry and pumpkin bread. Both were delicious, and I really enjoyed their super moist pumpkin bread. They had a long line, but spoke to a very nice customer and she said it's worth the wait and that the line moves quick. So glad I waited and now I have a local goto bakery in Oakland. Oh, they also sell their delicious half light baked pizza. Just take it to go and cook a little more in the oven, and you've got yourself a hot piping pizza. Highly recommend
