I'm "in the cellar" as usual this time of year. And everyone in the production end is FRAZZLED! Having said that, it actually means we're all cranky. So, besides cleaning out the warehouse for my bottle delivery, ordering labels, corks, filter pads, getting my lab ready, etc., etc., -- I'M ON FIRE! No, that's not the truth; I actually need a nap.
So, please forgive me for being late this month. And if you stop in to the winery for some FREE tastes, I promise not to be cranky. OK, so I won't promise. Hope to see you soon, Maryl.

Services
In 1998 my husband and I purchased the winery that was founded 21 years before by Felipe Beltra, an "old-world" Spanish winemaker from Uruguay, SA. He purchased the land and the old barn of a 125 year old farmstead and planted his grapes. He then went about converting the barn into his "tasting room".
DID YOU KNOW.El Paso Winery is located in the beautiful Hudson River valley -- one of the four wine producing regions of New York State. Some of the fine varietals we use are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Rieslings, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. We also feature beautiful and complex blends -- Mike's Mud, Owen's Own, Dusty Barn, and others that are dry, semi-dry and sweet.

Very unfortunately we had a terrible experience today. We arrived mid day on a Saturday after calling ahead of time and being told to “just come on down” with our party of 15 tasters. Upon arrival the lady behind the bar very rudely stated that she cannot “handle us” and we had to get out. Very rude and not welcoming or understanding at all. We at all local customers and we will never visit this winery again. No reason for the lady behind the bar to be so rude to patrons. Very disappointed

Love this place, but their wine is just not good at all. However, I’ll go often because the people that work there are just so amazing and the view is just breathtaking. I wish I go often, but I just can’t drink their wine. I have really try and taste all of them, but all of them are not good. They recently started to serve sangria and that’s better than the wine.

My bf and I had some time to kill Friday afternoon before our dinner reservation on the same street so we stopped by the winery. We were from out of town and I found the spot just googling things to do in the area. El Paso Winery is a very simple & quaint establishment. No one was in the indoor tasting/bar area when we arrived as the owner was outside on the deck manning the bar table. We were able to taste 2 wines each for free and additional tastings were $1 each. After we finished our 2 free tastings, we bought a bottle of their Pinot Noir and enjoyed it sitting on the outdoor deck

Im born and raised in Kingston and have driven by here a million times. My good friend has done the same and she finally was like let’s go! Im so glad she did because this is a hidden gem in plain sight! The wine is amazing and the prices can’t be beat! The owner is the sweetest and over all it’s just a homey and comfortable environment! I am a spend every weekend there! The view is also beautiful!

Although wine is not made there, nor do they have vineyards; the owner is extremely welcoming and friendly. Taste test extremely well priced. Little snacks to purchase as you sit on an enclosed deck. No plated food. Courtesy sangria of the day. Later afternoon opening. Check hours. Would definitely go again.

This winery in Ulster Park, NY is family owned, very friendly, and a delight to visit. Whether you're going for a wine tasting, to purchase, or so simply sit on the picturesque deck for some wine and snacks, it's worth the trip. Meryl, the owner, is incredibly friendly and helpful whether you are a beginner or a connoisseur. I'd rate them 6 stars if that were available!

El Paso Winery is owned and operated by a lovely couple. They are helpful and great to chat with. The winery itself is adorable with a tasting counter, cooler and shelves of wine, salsa, jam, glasses, etc. they offer seating on a lovely outdoor deck. This is a great stop for a cocktail hour with friends.

I just went here with my family and had some great wine while enjoying a beautiful atmosphere along with wonderful service. Maryl, the owner and wine connoisseur, was absolutely lovely. She knows everything about the wine she serves and it all tastes amazing! I left with two bottles of wine but it took great strength to not just buy all of them. I will definitely be back!

We went upstate to the Hudson Valley on Columbus Day weekend and had to stop and taste the wines at El Paso
and we were happy we stopped by. Bought over a case of wine because they were great. The Cabernet Sauvignon was awesome. Great oak smokey flavor.
The ruby red sweet wine taste like they were just picked off the vines and delicious. Will be back for more in future visit.

I met Maryl over the phone after verifying that they were still in business. It seems some websites have them listed as closed which is far from the truth! Maryl and Jerry are New Jersey/New York transplants who have taken over the El Paso Winery from the founder Phillipe many years ago and have come out with great products. I have tasted and enjoyed visits to many facilities and some of them have been okay and some have been not so okay. El Paso with Maryl work makes a superior product in both reds and whites. They also have beautiful grounds to enjoy and are very pleasant people as well

This is a small tasting room right off the road. They have a nice outdoor deck / patio with tables and chairs so you can enjoy your wine. The wine is decent. They specialize in making smokey and spicy reds. The wine tastes like it is made by relative newbies (flavors sometimes tasted too contrived as opposed to natural) but, especially for the price (bottles are 10-12 bucks), it is worth the stop. We especially enjoyed the red blends and the Isabella (white wine, crisp, sauvignon blanc style).

Wine tasting from plastic shot glasses? That was a first...
Located in a cute barn setting, the tasting area is "standing only" and there is a small store with wine related gifts and some yummy looking homemade sauces and jams.
The wine maker was not able to provide much in the way of suggestions and seemed to take it personally if you were not a fan of one of her wines. The palate cleaner chips and homemade winter sangria were delicious! Would have appreciated a more welcoming atmosphere.
The view from the back porch looked beautiful and would be a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine
