Today was my second time ordering from McGavin's.
The champagne pink cake was to die for. So yummy! It was moist and not too sweet. The icing melted in your mouth and I couldn't get enough of it.lol
However, the king cake was not a kingcake.
I ordered over phone and could not wait to pick it up the next morning. The moment I saw it I was shocked. It did not look like a kingcake. Brought it home and we tried it. Not happy. The sugar tore up our mouths. It does not have icing on it and too much cinnamon , it was moist and not dry. I
Would suggest more icing. If sugar is to be used ,use smaller

It's not amazing but it's solid. The staff are nice and they seem to take covid precautions seriously which is something I appreciate. Some of their stuff is overly sweet but it's nice to have a place like this nearby when I get a hankering for a danish or a cookie. I still haven't tried the cupcakes yet.

The teacup/ teapot shortbread cookies and Cake pops that I requested for my daughter's 2nd birthday turned out amazing! They were all gone before the end of the party! Thank you for getting so creative with it😊 we will definitely be coming back, we have 2 other kids to do birthday parties for so you'll be hearing from us again in the spring!

My daughter had been bugging me to get her a cupcake from this place. From Port Orchard, we went twice. After 3, closed. Came on a Monday....closed Mondays. Went the next day. Bought a cupcake and a cookie. The cupcake was the diameter of a Kennedy half . 3 1/2 inches high. Cake 2 inches, frosting a inch and a half! $2.85. Cookie, I think was $1.50. Gave the loud young lady a 20.00. Change was $15.85. She told me that she could give me the $15.00 but not the .85 cents. I looked at her ...like what!?! I just stood there!

I wanted to love this place as it is a Bremerton tradition. However, when I ordered a cake for a party they wanted to nickel and dime me for everything, then they screwed it up! Two tier is a extra so we bought two separate cakes. You have to pay per oz. for sprinkles. Hand piping and sprinkles on cookies is extra (even though they have these ready in the store I just ordered what I saw in the case). I would be ok with the prices if I got what I asked for. I ordered the flavor of the month for my champagne cake which was not prepared for me. They gave me a hard time about it being my mistake even

So so bummed. 5 years ago we got a pink champagne cake from here. It was the best thing we'd ever tasted. As far as cakes go. We paid $50 for one yesterday... it's not pink champagne. It's white cake. It's also not butter creme frosting, it's crisco/lard with sugar and coloring.

This is such a sweet place and the new owners clearly love the history Of this bakery. I went early one morning and some of the larger pastries weren't quite ready. They shared that the oven is the original 1940s oven and on Tuesday mornings takes a bit to heat up :). They have the best pastries I have found in the Puget Sound. I am a pastry lover and seek out bakeries when traveling around the US and internationally. They definitely are on the top of the list. We have loved everything and cinnamon rolls and almond pastries are exceptional

Pretty disappointed with the cupcakes I ordered for my sisters baby shower. They were supposed to be lemonade flavored with raspberry filling. They didn't taste like lemonade at all only like food coloring. Also I was expecting raspberry jelly inside for what they charged me for the filling but they only had a little teaspoon of raspberry flavored frosting in them. They were very boring looking and I had go buy sprinkles for them! I paid roughly $85 for them which was way to much for the quality I received.

I placed a special order for baby shower cookies and cupcake. I provided pictures to the bakery of what I was wanting and they were EXACTLY like the pictures I provided!! They were beautiful and tasted great. The cupcakes were very light and airy, (not dry at all), and the cookies were soft and not too sweet but the icing made them just perfect. Everyone at the baby shower asked where I got them! Thanks McGavins, Alex, and the (girl decorator who helped me when I picked up) for making sure they were just right!! I order the pink champagne cake for all my friend and family's birthdays; its become a tradition. It is all butter, flour, sugar and it is divine!
I wish they still did the Barbie cake, which is a Barbie doll baked into a cake; the cake looks like a skirt on the doll.
The staff is friendly and helpful.

I really wanted this place to be that amazing little neighborhood bakery that I couldn't live without but unfortunately it just isn't. Very average. Other than the cupcakes, which do look very nice, the other items in the store look sloppy, like there's no polish on their products. I tried the champagne cupcakes, which are supposed to be their pride and joy, and was disappointed in the blandness. After talking to a few people a generation older than me it sounds like the place lost it's "something special" after the change in ownership years ago. Sad.

I have to be honest, I was really excited to try this bakery. The sign outside is so cute, I've driven past it many times and follow them on Facebook- the treats always looked delicious.. My friend was in town for thanksgiving, so we spent the Friday after celebrating her birthday. So I finally got around to trying it, with her, and the inside, for starters, is dark and dingy. It's small, cold, and just kinda uncomfortable. The cases were ill lit and half empty. The cookies were messily frosted, the space needle one was thickly frosted with dark food coloring I can't imagine it tasted

They were kind and helpful and had a decent selection to choose from. I ended up getting a few treats which included a pink champagne cake pop, a brownie and a fruit bar of some kind. Everything tasted great, maybe not things we would crave and make a stop there just for it, but we enjoyed it all. The cake pop was super creamy inside, but all of them were cracked or smushed, which is a bummer.
So why the three stars Kimber? Well, my one big problem

I have always heard great things about McGavin's Bakery, so I decided to give them a shot for my boss's work anniversary. I was not disappointed!!
We went with a triple chocolate unicorn cake decorated in our office colors. I was very happy with how the unicorn decoration came out, and the cake tasted AMAZING!
The customer service over the phone while ordering was wonderful and easy, and the cake was perfect in every way. I'll definitely be returning for all my bakery needs!
