Pilates is an effective form of exercise for many people because the method is applicable to people of all fitness levels. Doing Pilates will make you stronger, more flexible and more confident in your body's ability to do the things you love to do and live the life you want to live.

The Pilates Studio, located at 1611 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, offers the highest quality instruction in Pilates, making use of the Pilates Reformer, Cadillac, Combo Chair, Arm Chair, Pedo-Pull, Ladder Barrel and Mat, as well as a selection of carefully selected tools for balance, myofascial release, retraining movement sequencing, stretching and strengthening that will augment your Pilates training.

The Pilates Studio was founded by Amy Bruckmeier in 2008 with the goal of creating an inviting and personal atmosphere for private Pilates sessions.

Before opening The Pilates Studio, Amy worked in many studios, both large and small, and taught in a wide variety of situations: large group mat classes of up to fifty people, or small classes of five or six people on the Pilates equipment, or training clients individually in private sessions on mat and equipment.
Pilates is movement training that can dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels and performs. Pilates will enable you to move more efficiently and with less effort, improve control and precision, and move with more confidence and power. At The Pilates Studio, our instructors have a thorough knowledge of Pilates and have experience training people of all levels of fitness and ability.
The Pilates Studio is located at 1611 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, three doors south of Acme Bread and Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, with Cedar St. as the nearest cross street. Our studio is a boutique Pilates studio offering private sessions in an inviting and clean space with a full array of top quality Pilates equipment manufactured by Balanced Body.
At The Pilates Studio all of our instructors are Senior Certified Instructors who are comprehensively trained and have years of experience working with clients of varied fitness levels and abilities. Our instructors regularly participate in continuing education courses and have developed specializations that will enhance your sessions.
Amy Bruckmeier is a certified Pilates instructor rehabilitation specialist, educator and creator of weekly home programs for her clients. She received her formal training from Ellie Herman at EHS San Francisco, and later received a second full certification through Balanced Body University.

Amy assisted Master Instructor Lisa Graham at Agile Monkey Pilates Studio in Santa Cruz in the Balanced Body Teacher Certification Program (teaching the complete Pilates repertoire to prospective teachers) in 2008, and again in 2009.In 2011/12 she completed an intensive Pilates mentorship program, studying under the late Master Instructor Julian Littleford of JL Body Conditioning in Del Mar, CA.
