Reform Your Body Pilates is a Pilates studio in Berkeley with a committed focus on helping you achieve the best balanced body you can. This means all of our exercises are designed to help you function, pain-free, in your active life, whether it's hiking or biking in the Oakland hills or a night out in Berkeley's downtown arts district.

We do this by taking Joseph Pilates' original methodology and synthesizing it with the latest fitness research and practices to give you the best Pilates, personal training, and physical therapy have to offer.

I am an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. I am also a certified Pilates Instructor by Body Arts and Science International (BASI) and am Gold Certified by the Pilates Method Alliance. I have 18 years of experience in the fitness industry. I have seen what works and what doesn't.
There is much literature on the core in today's society, some of it good and some of it questionable. Because many of us spend so much time in flexion (seated at a desk, driving, watching TV etc), it does not behoove us to continue to overemphasize flexion in our workouts. In order to achieve spinal stability, some attention should be given to the deeper muscles of the body.

After seeing a chiropractor for over two years and then an osteopath for another year and a half, my sessions with Sornam are proving to be what is healing my low back. As a professional dancer for almost 15 years now, I have traveled around the world and taken all kinds of classes. Recently I came across Sornam's Pilates Mat Class, and after 10 minutes I new I was in the right place.

Most knowledgeable, detail-oriented trainer. especially recommended for anyone with past injuries, or anyone who wants to regain strength in a gentle way. If you've tried everything else and are about to give up, you're in the right place here.
