I teach yoga as a one-credit undergraduate course at GWU in Washington, DC. At the start of each semester, I ask the students to pair up and define within a couple sentences "what is yoga?" As they're crafting their answers I remind them that whatever they come up with, it's right. Yoga is a very individual experience so for each person the definition will vary.
Our specialty is teaching yoga in non-studio settings. View a full list of client locations here. We offer on-site corporate yoga lessons, in-home yoga instruction, outdoor yoga classes, conference center yoga and meditation workshops. Oh, and #BeerYoga weekly at Port City Brewing. Yoga class locations anywhere you can think of in Washington, DC, Arlington & Alexandria, VA.

Melody of abellaYoga was my first yoga instructor nearly seven years ago. I walked into that first lunch break class with only a "Yoga for Dummies VHS tape" as my prior knowledge and had no idea I'd become so hooked. Melody has a calm way of teaching but challenges you to push yourself as well. She meets everyone in the class at their level and there is no prestige like you might find in a studio. She's a great yoga teacher with a wonderful philosophy on life and practice.

I have been searching to add an element into my fitness routine that encourages flexibility, strength conditioning and meditation. After one private class in my home with Melody, I am hooked! I've taken a few of her public classes before, but found a one-on-one session so much more beneficial.
Her teaching style is tailored to each client, and she offers guidance and encouragement to make the most of your session. Melody's attention to detail and focus on form are spot on. The slightest adjustment can take each pose or exercise to the next level.

I started doing Yoga with Melody this summer. In the past, I have had a difficult time really getting into it, but with Melody it is really easy to concentrate and push yourself. She gives you extra attention where you need it and makes you push yourself, while still making you feel comfortable if you do something silly or fall out of a pose.
PROS: Melody is natural with a soothing voice, emphasis on breathing and being in the moment, different variations of poses (she always has something to take you the the next step or back one if needed), you actually break a sweat!
CONS: There really are

I started doing in-home yoga sessions with Melody last summer, and supplemented my practice with one of her local weekly classes. If I didn't have Melody teaching from the start, I'm not sure that I would be as hooked on yoga as I am now! I love many sports, but try to find time for yoga as it helps my flexibility, agility, and my mood!
With abellaYoga, the focus isn't only on the practice itself - it's what you can take from the practice into your daily life. Melody has taught me to try to live all moments to the fullest, and to really appreciate day to day presence of mind
