The choice of a camp for your daughter is important because camp is more than an extension of her home life. Camp is a vehicle to enrich her emotional, spiritual and physical life beyond the limits of her school and home environment. Camp Matoaka explores your daughter's potential under the selective guidance of a fine, mature staff of teachers and college students.

Every summer, Camp Matoaka brings together a team of mature, fun, spirited, energetic, and dedicated staff who enjoy working with children. Camp Matoaka strives to make significant contributions to the overall education of our campers. Our staff promotes social and personal growth related to self-esteem, communication, and confidence.
Every Sunday of the summer, except for Visiting Day Weekend, we invite families to join us for a tour of camp. Their daughter will stay from 10am to 2pm and experience a 'typical day' at One Great Place! Our in-home visits will move outside to your backyard, or if you're in the city, your courtyard or nearest park.

Almost Heaven, Camp Matoaka....it's true! I've spent 12 summers at camp and 2022 will be my daughter's 8th summer. We call it Matoaka Magic. It's hard to explain. Spirit, tradition, and friendships that last a lifetime. Girls become independent and confident. Matoaka creates an environment where girls can be themselves and try new things without the pressures from home. Matoaka is the greatest place on earth!

Matoaka is literally magical! My girls have been campers for years and not a day in summer they are not smiling and thriving! The owners are incredible and counselors are so fun and great role models for kids! What I really was impressed with was how hands on the owners and head staff are with each and every camper, and staff alike - always making sure everyone is taken care of and safe and looked after every moment in the camp environment. Everything they have in regards to programming is advanced, organized and executed so well. The minute they get off the bus to return home they count the days

Highly recommend Camp Matoaka! My daughters call it their 2nd home! Countdown starts the minute the get home for next summer! They run a fabulous program with so many choices of activities! My kids have made lifelong friends, came home more flexible and willing to try new things, more confident and so happy! Camp Matoaka is One Great place!

Camp Matoaka is my favorite place! I'm going back this summer for my second year as a counselor. Jason, Leslie, and the other office staff really go above and beyond for the campers, staff, and anyone else at camp. I'm not exaggerating at all when I say that working here was the best decision I ever made. If you're thinking about sending your kids here or coming to work here, definitely do it.

Camp Matoaka is truly one of the most magical places in the world. I had the privilege of being a camper for 8 summers and a counselor for 2. Matoaka taught me about friendship, independence, creativity, fun, responsibility and so much more. It has shaped me into the person I am today and I can’t imagine a summer going by without my visit to One Great Place. Camp Matoaka has got to be the greatest place ever! I have worked here going on 3 years, and I honestly can say that this is a amazing place for Campers and Staff. The moment I met my kids in my bunk I fell in love with the place and I have kept returning. I am definitely attached to this place. You spend two months in the most beautiful place in Maine. I spend most of my time outside and I can't complain its a blast. Whether your a camper or a staff member you will not regret spending your summer here. Wendy the asst. director is the nicest person. I have sent my daughter to camp Matoaka and she loved it. She made some great new friends which she is still in touch with. She is counting down the days to go back to camp. She loves the activities, especially the waterfront activities. They have staff that are from all over the world and they are so caring for the kids. My daughter loved her counselors.

My daughter has been a camper at Matoaka for the last 5 years. We are so fortunate to be able to send her to such a warm and welcoming community. The enthusiasm of the Directors and supporting staff is contagious. You can't help but feel the "Matoaka Magic" as summer nears. Camp Matoaka has got to be the best place on Earth. I have spent every summer there since 2010, and just keep coming back for more. I genuinely believe Camp has made me a better version of myself. I never got to experience the camp as a child, but am fortunate enough to do it as a staff member. I watch these girls year after year grow, learn, explore. All getting to do so while in a safe and loving environment. I walked in as a stranger, but I left as family. The directors, the counselors, and the facilities are all top notch. Solid place to hold a wedding - this is a girls sleep away camp that can be rented out. Pretty cool. The camp is really nice with tennis courts, a radio station, a pool and a lake amongst other things. This looks way better than the camps I grew up going to. Went here for a wedding which was a cute venue. The camp staff acted as servers I think and the food wasn't too bad - buffet style with a giant tray of steaks and some of the best strawberry shortcake I've ever had.
