For a century and situated in the pristine wilderness of Maine's beautiful Belgrade Lakes region, Camp Modin is the oldest continuously operating Jewish camp in the United States. Come celebrate our 101st season with us! Since its inception in 1922, Camp Modin has pursued an ideal.
This ideal began as a desire to provide children not merely with a recreational experience, but a summer that would contribute meaningfully to the balanced development of a child. As we conclude our daughters' summers as campers, we are deeply grateful to you for being partners with us in shaping their lives.

Located on a private, unspoiled lake, campers from around the world, ages 7-16, enjoy a community-oriented environment in which they can learn, grow and develop lifelong friendships. Our warm, nurturing and welcoming environment helps campers to assimilate quickly into the Modin family. Since its inception in 1922, Camp Modin has pursued an ideal.
For 100 years we have continued to evolve the Modin summer camp program, designed as a series of options and choices with a child's growth and development in mind. The wide range of choices, and the well-kept facilities offer Modin campers the opportunity to hone their skills. Campers receive intensive instruction in a wide variety of athletics, water sports, creative and performing arts and wilderness adventure programs.
From our expansive waterfront and tournament ski boats, to state of the art fitness pavilion & teen lounge and rustic lodge and spacious recreation center, our list of summer camp facilities is extensive. Creating a community means providing children with the best camping traditions, but also creating a comfortable, safe living space for them.
Camp Modin rests on the shores of Salmon Lake, in the pristine Belgrade Lakes region of central Maine. Roughly one hour by car from Portland, three hours north of Boston or a quick 45-minute flight from New York, a trip to Maine is really just around the corner.
Camp is an incredible experience for children, but what do they really take away from their summer at Modin? Camp certainly affords children the chance to play sports, take out a sailboat, tackle the climbing wall, act in a play, and dress up for color war.And camp would not be "camp" without our Shabbat singing, challah, carnivals, general swim, talent shows, lip-sync, and all the rituals and traditions that define Modin.

I spent a summer at Camp Modin when it was located in Canaan, ME, on Lake George. I was a bunk leader as well as the archery, basketball and football counselor. But, more important than the in camp activities were the amazing opportunities to use our Maine Guide for hiking, climbing, canoeing and learning the husbandry needed for deep woods survival. For the city kids of New York and Montreal, this was an experience that they would carry with them for a lifetime.
