Agape Yoga
I have been on this spiritual path since 1995. From the rooms of Al-Anon to the training programs of the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, I have learned that I am a spiritual being having a human experience. I named my studio Agape for the Greek word for universal love. Through postures, breath work, relaxation & deep rest, I am here to teach, guide and support you on this path of deep growth, healing, aliveness & love.

I am certified & registered at the 200hr level, and have over 500 hours of study with notable teachers, namely Yoganand Michael Carroll & Kamini Desai, both from the Kripalu lineage. I have been taking yoga classes from Maria for about three years and I find them to be relaxing, challenging and inspiring.
Services
Agape Yoga was established in 2003 in CT and is now located in Kingston, NY. We're very excited to build community here. We teach ancient yogic techniques that have been adapted for modern practitioners. Agape yoga classes are small by design to give you more individual attention. The focus is on the breath as you explore your physical, mental, and energetic bodies to develop a deeper awareness of your true self.
Zoom yoga classes offered on Sundays 10:00 am-11:00 am (please connect 5 minutes early to settle in.) Come, breathe, stretch, relax, and let go. Explore postures, breath work, and relaxation in a quiet, clean, intimate and meditative setting. You will receive one-on-one instruction, specific to your needs.

Seeking yoga that accommodated my body type but still challenged and strengthened me has been a journey. The importance of practicing yoga everyday is powerful and has such a positive impact on my mind, body and soul.
I finally found a consistent class I love, with Maria Vailakis-Wippick as my yoga teacher. She is an incredible, knowledgeable yoga guide to postures, breath-work, stretching, and relaxing muscles (I wan't even aware of). I'm so thankful for her and our class for the improvements I've made and for keeping me motivated to continue.
I highly recommend her class to anyone looking

I've had several yoga instructors and Maria is by far the best. I've taken her in-person classes and her classes by zoom. She's a careful and kind teacher and I always feel wonderful after her class.

Maria is a knowledgeable and compassionate yoga instructor. She listens to her students and adapts class to the needs and experience level of each individual. Her practice connects the mind, body, and spirit. I always leave refreshed, calm and more limber. I highly recommend Agape Yoga, whether in person or on Zoom.

Maria is a wonderful yoga instructor. Her gentle yoga classes were perfect for me when I started as a beginner over 6 years ago, and I have continued with her ever since. I highly recommended her in-person classes which she conducted out of her home pre-Covid, and her Zoom classes now are just as good.

It's hard to find a yoga class that truly is about self-care. So many instructors treat yoga like a sport and seem to emphasize competition over compassion.

I've been studying with Maria for 7 years and am so grateful to have found her. She is a warm and caring teacher who welcomes all students -- no matter what your abilities or limitations. Even after hip surgery, she encouraged me to come back and helped me with modifications so I could participate.

Class groups are small, and the sessions are joyful and always filled with laughter and gratitude.

I had a wonderful experience with Agape Yoga. Maria, the instructor, is warm and inviting by nature. If your are new to Agape, she will personally take the time to understand your needs by asking about your physical, mental and emotional health. During the practice she will make sure that you are going at your own rhythm and emphasizes the importance of breathing. Her class will have you strengthening and stretching and leave you feeling calm, open and happy.

I am in my 50s, so I was somewhat reluctant to undertake a yoga class - especially since i was pretty out of shape at the time. Agape Yoga was just the right thing for me. Conveniently located right off of Merritt Parkway Exit 42, their classes are small and at a pace that makes it easy to feel like you're making progress and enjoying yourself. You get expert instruction that doesn't make you feel foolish and a warm, gentle approach to yoga that emphasizes its spiritual (not religious) side. Give it a try, no matter what your age or condition.
