My wife and I recently purchased our first home - a coop in Brooklyn Heights. Brandy and Jodi were always there to discuss our concerns and guide us through all the details. I'm the type to write too many emails and ask every question. And they responded to every inquiry timely and politely.
They were thorough in their due diligence and followed up with the seller and mortgage bank whenever there were discrepancies and helped put our minds at ease. And lastly, our closing took less than 1 hour! An amazing experience from our first call to the closing itself. I would highly recommend Materna Law PLLC and would definitely engage their services in the future.

We used Jodi for the purchase of our 1st and 2nd house. She is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to us. She made herself available to us 24/7, and answered all our questions no matter how minor they were. Once we sent Jodi the contract, she reviewed it and got back to us in less than 48 hours. She looked out for our best interest and went back and forth with the seller to make sure everything was in order for us to close. We loved working with her so much, we used her twice and recommended her to several of our friends for closing on their homes.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Jodi represent me in my co-op purchase. She is a wonderful person and an extremely professional and experienced attorney. I was able to completely rely on her throughout the entire process, whether it was always making herself available to answer any questions I had, or pushing to get my closing done on schedule even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I received exactly the kind of personal service and attention I needed, and I can not recommend her highly enough. Especially if you are a first-time home buyer like me and are nervous about the process, Jodi

Jodi Materna's name was given by my childhood best friend who is a very responsible and trustful lawyer too. I am thankful for my friend, because Jodi and her paralegal Brandy Smith are very experienced, responsive, knowledgable and honest. While working with Jodi and Brandy, I felt as I was in adept and trustworthy hands, and I did not need to worry about anything. I would highly recommend Materna Law! Jodi and Brandy are the best!

After our experience with Jodi and Brandy, we will be referring them to EVERYONE we know. How can you remain professional yet treat your clients like family? Well Jodi and her team have that magic touch. My husband and I have heard crazy stories about house closings and we were lost and anxious going into our first one. Brandy, Jodi’s paralegal is a godsend and thoroughly answered all of our questions and made sure the entire process was seamless. During closing, I completely trusted Jodi and her advice to guide us in our best interest. I highly recommend both of them!!

We've used Materna Law for 3.5 (one sale was denied by the board) co-op transactions over the past 3 years. Jodi and Brandy are wonderful. They helped us through a lot, making the whole process of buying and selling seem manageable (we hadn't purchased or sold any real estate before). I hope we don't need to use their services for a while, but if we did we'd certainly go back, and I'd recommend them to anyone!

Jodi and her paralegal, Brandy, were great to work with. This was my first purchase in NYC and things are done much differently with coops, of course. They answered all my very basic questions in a timely fashion. They were very reachable, and always pleasant. My closing went off without a hitch and Jodi was there to explain everything I signed. I look forward to using Materna Law for any of my future real estate legal needs.

This is a very professional practice. Jodi and Brandy are great advisors, they were very responsive and kept us posted throughout the process of the sell of the property. They took the time to explain any changes, reason for delays, or parts of the process that needed prompt attention. Will certainly use them for future representation again.

Jodi and the Materna team are simply the best!! I recently used their services when purchasing my first home, and they made sure everything was taken care of the RIGHT way. The price was heavily discounted when compared to their competitors, and Jodi fought for me to not be be pressured by the sellers when I was presented with a last minute change. She also drove over two hours to me me for our appointment... now that's dedication! Jodi is professional, polite, and super smart... I would recommend her (and Materna Law) to anyone and everyone for all their legal matters.

Used Materna law for a recent co-op purchase. Terrible experience and would not recommend using this business.
Was spoken to like a child and the attorney herself would never get on the phone and screened all calls through her paralegal. Needless to say my buildings financial information was NEVER reviewed. I asked multiple times for a financial report and my request was ignored. As a new home buyer, I found out too late in the process this information was never requested and my co-op was bankrupt as well as a large assessment that was taking place. Needless to say, I was mislead and misrepresented

We hired Materna Law for the sale of our home and the purchase of a new home after a friend of ours referred them. Best decision we ever made. To say they were incredible would be an understatement.
This was our first time selling and we really didn't know how things work in the real estate world. We truly relied on them to be our eyes and ears and they were - and more. Brandy took every call and email I had (which was a lot) and answered every silly question I may have had. She took her time to explain things and really educated us in the process and she never rushed through it. This

Requested help with will preparation. Spoke to Jodi herself and was promised to receive a will intake form the same day. 12 days later her assistant decided to finally email a simple intake form. Explanation of the tardiness was how busy the office is and that the focus is on Real Estate. Little did they know that I wanted to test out there services with a will preparation yet have several real estate deals in the pipeline where I was looking for an attorney. Customer Service and responsiveness goes a long way - or not. We will definitely not be using her. I work for a multi-national financial

Please don't hesitate for a second to hire Jodi Materna.
I closed on the sale of my UWS apartment in October 2015. From the negotiations with our buyer's attorney to the signing of the contract to the closing (and tying up loose ends after) and everything in between, I was delighted with the degree of professionalism, courtesy, responsiveness (if I sent an email or left a voicemail I never had to wait long to hear back), patience, knowledge (and occasional hand-holding) that Jodi and her absolutely terrific paralegal Brandy provided me. I simply cannot say enough good things about them

The reviews here for Materna Law are disappointing because I just had a really great experience with them.
We recently worked with Jodi and Brandy to close on a co-op apartment. As is typical with real estate, things got a bit complicated with our deal and Materna Law was always on top of everything- and very quick to take our calls and respond to emails.
Going into the closing we felt very confident having Jodi at our side- she was the most organized of the people at the table, and explained every document to us before we signed. We got our neatly organized closing binder the next business

I don't usually do reviews but felt compelled to do this one.
I contacted this office to do a will for me. I immediately got a very nice call back from someone who explained the process and sent me a form to complete and return saying "as soon as we get the form we can schedule a call to go over any questions you have". I sent the completed form in and got a reply thanking me and they would be in touch. That was March 19th. I heard nothing, not an email or a phone call after 4 weeks so on April 17th I sent a follow up email asking again what the process was and what I should
