This apartment complex is okay. Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with the leasing office at the end of my time there.This does not take away from Jessica, Pia, Joy, Hannah, Mel, Olivia, Janice and the entire team being helpful, professional and answering all questions a resident may have. They are a great bunch in the office, but remember they will do what is best for their business and not for the tenant (customer). Read the contract closely and make sure the arrangements work for you. If not, you will be in a bad spot because what you sign in the lease agreement is what you get

Maintenance is a joke. Water and drainage issues throughout my entire tenure.
Then I was surprised after 3.5 years of on time payments and taking care of the place as my own that they tried to cheat me out of deposit. Then I read other reviews and realized that is there M.O.

Apartments are good so are their services. Number of trails are in just walkable distance so you don't need to drive any other trails. It's quite a good place for graduate student community. VT is about 2 miles and will take about 30 mins if you are fast Walker or around 40-45 mins. If you wanna take bus then there are two bus route HWA and HWB. Both of the routes have number of stops and quite frequent except on holidays. So overall it is excellent unless you are stuck with noisy neighbors or roommates.

I have not had any bad experiences thus far. My wife lived here first for three years while she attended Virginia Tech. They were always pretty fast in answering maintenance requests. She only got some of her deposit back but she and her roommates did possibly the deepest clean possible before they left. They left the carpet only reasonably used and on one door accidentally ripped off the paint from a sign they put on it. Now she and I have lived here for 5 months. We really enjoy the trail, duck pond, and trees for using our hammock. We can sometimes hear our upstairs neighbors but no more than

We lived in a 3-room bedroom. The houses are old and noisy, you can hear anything above/below you. The amenities are great, and the staff is friendly.
There is a known problem with the deposit. After we left the apartment, not only we did not get the deposit back, but they asked us for additional 600$ for re-carpeting the entire apartment, which was completely unnecessary. Also, despite hiring a cleaning lady, they still managed to find "dirt". When talking to other former residents, we found out that we were not the only ones, and this is true especially for foreigners.
