Team Rey's Fitness Center
Team Rey's was established in 1994 in San Jose Ca. Rey (Sifu) specializes in Muay Thai Kickboxing, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Boot camps, Personal training, Crossfit training, and Weight loss techniques. We also offer a full line of Muay Thai and MMA gear! We inspire people to use combat sports to be better, healthier and stronger by crafting and delivering high quality and innovative training methods.
Services
We are part of the lifestyle of combat sports and understand the sacrifices required to pursue and attain your goals. Over the years, Team Rey's has developed a reputation for delving deep into the data, performing scientific research studies and applying community feedback to conceive, develop and produce high-quality training.
Team Rey's school is top notch. Coach Rey is a great teacher. He combines traditional teaching methods, structure, discipline, humor, physical sparing and conditioning to create a great teaching experience and workout for young kids. Truly a school he should be proud of. This place has been another home for me.
Muay Thai trains fighters to use every tool in their striking arsenal - punches, kicks, knees, and elbows to devastating effect. Muay Thai is also famous for its clinch, a safe haven in many styles, but a place where you punish your opponent with knees and elbow strikes in Muay Thai. Muay Thai includes intense physical and cardio conditioning to push you to your peak physical condition.

The best Muay Thai, Wing Chun academy to learn and improve. The kids class is perfect to show the kids discipline and confidence, and the adult class is awesome. As I said, this is the best Muay Thai academy in the Bay Area,
I definitely recommend it!

Please note, this is just for the Muay Thai. I am by no means an expert in Wing Chun so I am not qualified to comment. Firstly, the only two legitimate instructors are Rey himself and Tyson, the rest are not worth your time and I suggest skipping their classes as you will not learn anything.

Second, he holds little practice matches so the kids get used to tournaments and how to be ready and prepared for them which is a good idea. He lets them do these fights without mouth pieces or cups if their parents did not remember to bring/purchase one.

The majority of students are nice normal people

One of the best martial arts experiences I had. Sifu Rey is great, knows every little detail of the art, is very practical and is an excellent trainer.

My husband and son have been going here for almost a year. My son loves the kid's class and has learned so much already. When class is over, he's super sweaty, so I know they are working him out hard.
My husband takes the adult class after the kids are done and he is very happy with the new skills he has developed. And he also gets a great workout (and some bumps and bruises to go with it)!
Lots of good people here! Everyone is very helpful and friendly!

This place has been another home for me. Sifu Rey Garcia doesn’t teach anything that isn’t practical and has an incredible knowledge base. If you’re serious about learning, you won’t find a place more serious about teaching.

I enrolled my son here in March of 2016 because:
1 - great Groupon deal
2 - close to my house. They are so close to my house, that I often see his fight team doing their runs in the morning when I leave to work, and in the evenings when I go to my night classes on Wednesday.
I'm glad to have signed him up because I also have a cousin that trains in Muay Thai and found out that he and his daughter trained at this gym while they lived up here. Though my cousin moved back down to Carlsbad, he, Rey, and his team of fighters have a great relationship, and they try to connect when Rey's fighters participate

This gym could be much cleaner.
My son successfully uses an inhaler before any type of workout, but, at Team Reys gym, it is not effective.
He experiences chest tightness whenever he leaves the class. Doesn't seem they are cleaning the space regularly. Which is problematic because it located in a light industrial center.

I was going to advise the owner directly, but, I get the impression,
from other's experiences, that constructive suggestions may not be welcome.

Think we'll be looking for a cleaner gym .

I've been doing Muay Thai for a little more than two years now, it was my 2016 new years resolution and I haven't stopped since. Its been more than two years and the skills, techniques and training provided to me by Team Reys really set the foundation for where I am today in my amateur fighting career. Team Reys focus on body kicks is something that you will not get at any other martial arts academy , trust me I've spent time in three different ones. If I lived in the area I would immediately sign up at Rey's. The pricing is fantastic for what you get out of the classes. The

This place is absolutely incredible and Rey is awesome with the kids. I've been bringing my 6 year old for about a year and not only has he really learned some great Muay Thai skills, but he's made friends and loves it!!

Great job Cru Rey!

Angry parents should not post negative reviews without making a proper educated assessment.

PARENTS.. This gym is not a day care facility. If you want a pretty gym then this is not for you. If you want RESULTS with an instructor that has been in the business for decades and is great with kids then you have come to the right place.

This is in response to an angry parent post on 2/17/2018.

If your child does not like to go to Muay Thai then why do you continue to have your child come? My kids would rather play Ipad all day as well, but I insist they get some form of exercise.

With the expansion, the facility and curriculum has only gotten better. The kid's class is helmed by Sifu Rey Garcia who is a great teacher and coach, and all the children have fun in a very safe and structured class. Yes on occasion, Every child earns their treat after showing discipline, hard work and effort in class. So to any individual saying absurd and outlandish statements and comments without ever seeing their child participating during class , should reconsider and reevaluate their comments.

Also I know according to the business aspect, there are rules, regulations and policies

1) This place is a dump.It looks like a disaster area.

2) Rey often (once or twice a week) gives the kids unhealthy ,sugar laden snacks and beverages. I have thought about asking him to stop giving them junk food, but his unfriendly demeanor prevented me from doing so.
An important component of fitness is knowing that junk food should be avoided. I don't think this man in even aware of the harm that artificial colours, flavours and sugary foods can cause. A martial arts coach should know better.

3) My son has been going to this place since 2017. He kept telling me about this obese kid

Signed up 4 months ago. Started at waste 42 now down to a 38 loosely. Did not change my diets much except reduced a lot of sodium intake and cut out all carbonated sodas (except 7up).

Don't waste time to come here if your going to complain Sifu Rey is too old school and work you hard.

I do blood test every three months and while I was at UFC gym for about a year I thought the results were good. Nope! They are a good cardio gym.

So after an injury and out for 8 months my test went to the worst.

I joined Team Rey's and within the 1st week I was motivated but exhausted. After all

I enrolled myself into Master Reys gym hoping to just learn a thing or two about Muay Thai. I ended up staying for nearly 2 years because I fell in love with the sport and the skills I learned at this place. The techniques and workouts that go about in this gym really help you get into the "fighting spirit" of martial arts. I even ended up being a fighter for Master Rey during one of his events. Obviously this gym offers real deal techniques that helps defend yourself if needed, and also the best workout you can ask for. I only stopped attending this gym because I had left for the U.S

I've been going to Rey's for almost 15 years now. He great teacher and a great mentor. He's very passionate about both Muay Thai and Wing Chun. I've been to many different martial arts academies and gyms over the years and I can tell you that Rey's teaching style blows them all away. Whether you're trying to learn self defense, loose weight, fight, or all three, Rey is the man for you! If you're hesitant about joining just come by for a free introductory class! I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed!

Awesome. Only there for a month and just for Wing Chun, but people are awesome, hard working, and inspirational. Sifu is one strong, knowledgeable teacher. Great metaphors, great humor and spectacular power and speed. Gonna see if I can come back again if I'm in the area.

They're also running a special. 10 days for $20! All the classes you can take in 10 days for just 20 bucks. (That's the normal drop-in fee) Worth checking out!
