Casa Lupe Restaurants and Market are family owned and operated business and has been in the Northern California area for the past 50 years. The DeLaTorre family started the first restaurant in Live Oak, CA in 1968. They then moved the restaurant to Gridley, CA in 1971 where it has been ever since. Two years later in 1973 the family opened the market and after that in 1989 the Casa Lupe in Yuba City, CA opened and has been successful.

Met up at Casa Lupe Gridley for dinner with some family from out of town. We got there at 6pm... (remember this time its important) I was told by the server that they were a bit short handed. I told him not to worry and that we understand.... We got our drinks and 2 appetizers pretty fast ... 20 minutes.. but as we sat we lost track of time as we were visiting .... i look down and it was 7:21 ... i had to be in Yuba City by 8. I asked if our dinner was close to being ready and the waiter stated half of the order was.... 7:41 ... I informed them that i needed all 5 dinners to go as we couldn't wait

We have come by this place several times it looks like the food and service have decline the best part of this place is the handmade tortillas.
We asked for albóndiga soup and after waiting awhile we were told soup was not ready. After a long while our food came and we asked for salsa my Al pastor tacos got cold I had to go up to the counter and ask for the salsa.

Food is always good here! Service wasn't as good as usual this visit but just like any place , when they are busy the service suffers. Prices are reasonable and the chips and salsa are great. If you like, you can pop in the store attached to the Restaurant and get salsa to go. Or fresh baked sweets!

This is the most authentic Mexican restaurant we have been to thus far. We ordered a plate of "carne con camaron" and a combo plate of burrito and chili relleno. The steak was medium well done and the shrimps were extra crispy. They were delicious or so I was told. The chili relleno was soft and tender, with just the right amount of cheese, but the chicken burrito was really salty. At least the tortilla chips were freshly made, so they were good.

Most awkward service ever. They no idea what they are doing here service wise. No smiles when we came in, no "welcome to casa lupe" kind of felt like everyone was pretending to be servers.
Both our drinks were wrong. The salsa had taco seasoning in it. Did not look fresh at all. The chips were ok. The food came and my fajita super burrito was pretty good. My rice and beans on the side were ok. (+1 for the burrito)
So two stars for no "two minute check", lacking service and wrong drinks. Place was impersonal even though we were both friendly. Drinks were also in the wrong glasses and we had this
