We visited Kaido while dropping my daughter off at school. We were first customers in for dinner.
Gentleman serving us was super nice. He opened the door in/out for all customers. Even ran over to do it.
Food was good. We weren't in any hurry so food came out and served within reasonable amount of time. Try the crispy rice.
There were some good specials listed. Was pretty quiet in there. Maybe too quiet haha

We came here last Saturday for a double date. I called a few days ahead and placed a reservation, just in case they get busy. When we got there, we quickly got seated and the table was already set. The miso soup was good, my friend said it's the best miso soup she's ever had haha. It was flavorful and filling. We got the Sakura roll set and albacore roll for the table, they were both fresh and delicious. I got the salmon dinner combination, the salmon was super yummy and the tempura was so hot and crispy. One of us got the beef dinner combination, it looked so good- I will definitely

KAIDO IS OPEN AGAIN! They opened back up two days ago, mostly takeout but they do have an outdoor table available for dine in. The food here is amazing and I was a regular customer before the Rona shutdown. I love to get their sushi dinner, it’s a really good deal for a full sushi meal and the fish is always very fresh and delicious! Could not recommend this place more. Please be sure to support them and get the word out, they were telling us they had to shut down for 5 months. Very nice people here, we definitely want this restaurant to open back up in full force.

Spider roll was soso good. All rolls were freshly and beautifully made. Pork bowl was def some real comfort food - would recommend, it's really nice. You can tell they carefully craft their dishes. Wasn't absolutely the most amazing sushi I've ever had, but was good. Most of all appreciated the amazing service from the staff, they are so kind and polite there.

Great food especially for the price! I always go for lunch because they have some really nice lunch deals. I got the sushi lunch plate for $13.50. I LOVE nigiri and I think the quality is really good at Kaido. I would recommend stopping by. I've really missed sushi this pandemic but getting take out from here really hits the spot.

Kaido is finally reopen. The food is still as delicious as it was before COVID! My boyfriend and I were regulars before the shut-down, so we were thrilled to see it was reopen. We always get the sushi dinner and salmon teriyaki dinner, which are delicious and very reasonably priced. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommend! Please give them some support during these challenging times and spread the word!

KAIDO IS BACK IN BUSINESS! Just had our first takeout dinner there in 5 months and it was as amazing as always! I usually order the sushi dinner, which is the best deal on this side of town. The food is always fresh and delicious. I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you've never been now is the time to try it out and if you've been in the past make sure to come support them since you know how good the food is!

The food here was good. It was well presented, perfectly cooked, and done quickly. The sushi price is a little higher than nearby alternatives but the quality is increased to match.
The interior decor was rather spartan and the building exterior was so non descript I didn't realize the resturaunt was there. If more people see this place I think it would do well.

Very clean and great service with affordable lunch options. I had the pork cutlet bowl which came with miso soup and a salad. The miso soup was legit as was the pork cutlet bowl. This restaurant does Japanese food well, meaning, it's legit Japanese food, not a revised interpreted version. Hope that's makes sense...

Kaido located conveniently short walk from UCLA campus. They offer variety of authentic Japanese food. Food was decent as expected. Service was excellent.
We tried the sashimi over rice, aka chirashi. I appreciated all the small bits of various fish. It also had a ball of imitation crab which I thought was odd. Otherwise, it was delicious. The spider roll also had good amount of imitation crab which I didn't cared for.
The chicken teriyaki and tempra combo dinner was delicious. Portion size was on point, and soup salad with entree was appreciated.
The spicy salmon roll was strange though

My friend and I went at noon on a weekday and there happened to have only a few tables available. There are so many options on the menu that I wanted to try. The prices are all pretty reasonable. The serving time was a little long, but the food tasted good. The salad came in a big portion. This place's sign is covered by a tree outside so I didn't really notice it until I did some restaurant search on yelp.

I was very impressed with the way the food came out and how it was presented. While the miso soup (as seen in the pic I posted) was regular, it was pretty good in taste. The salad came afterwards which contrasted well with the soup and presented itself a nice opener to the main sushi bowl as the main character.
The sashimi used was extremely fresh in my opinion. It was a good experience and the waitress was nice and professional. Good experience, although the price was a little on the pricey side (just a heads up) but worth the cost.

This restaurant just opened in Westwood, and my friend and I decided to check it out for dinner. On a Wednesday night, there weren't many other customers so we were seated quickly. My friend and I decided to share two happy hour appetizers, and get their dinner specials.
FOOD:
California Roll (5/5) - You definitely have to order this during happy hour, which starts after 8 pm. The plate comes with five slices of sushi, which is pretty good for how cheap it was (though I don't remember exact price). The roll was very tasty and fresh, and you get bang for your buck.

I might just be jaded coming from the SGV, but Kaido is about 30% more expensive than it should be. Unfortunately, not enough restaurants do their market research. Sawtelle is just a few miles away, and does the katsu bowl even approach the 25-layer pork katsu of Kimikatsu, or even one of the side bowls that other places sell for $5-10? Sure, the miso and salad is a welcome addition -- especially the salad, which has a creamy peanut based dressing that tastes like a thousand-island-peanut crossover -- you can see the chunks of nuts in it. It rounds off the meal quite nicely. But $14 for a katsu

Fresh sushi with decent service and relatively little taste.
Unfortunately, as efficiently run as this place is, you can immediately tell from the cuts of fish and the lack of marbling that you're not getting high-end or even mid-range sushi... which is unfortunate, given how fresh it is.
Pricing isn't particularly cheap either, although to be honest, rent in Westwood as price, and their sacrifice on quality in favor of freshness is probably the right call, all things considered. I'm just not a fan.
