Carleton Artist Lofts is a vibrant community of artists in the Raymond Village neighborhood of St. Paul. Through the Historic Tax Credit (HTC) program, three former warehouses were transformed to become the live/work rental community that Carleton Artist Lofts is today. Residents benefit from both affordable housing and studio workspaces catered to their artistry.

The Raymond Avenue light rail station sits just steps from our front door and offers a convenient mode of transit. Located equidistance between downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, our growing area is also home to many spirited eateries, businesses and other residential communities.

I have been a resident for just over a year at Carleton. The emphasis on security and communication with residents, upkeep and community makes this feel like an incredibly safe and caring environment. Exceptional sound proofing for making music, and for experiencing quiet are also a plus for me.

I have loved living at Carleton Artist Lofts! My husband and I have adored our beautiful apartment (see photos). The rent is reasonable, the management is great, and the space is gorgeous. Another positive is the location & how close the lightrail is. We can get to a Twins game or to work without driving! We have always felt safe as security and safety is a priority. This is such a great place - I totally recommend!

The neighborhood has grown in diversity, in its mix of people, income levels and economic development over the past 15 years. I appreciate having the sounds of the light rail and bustling industry all around me. And I love my apartment and the artists who have been my neighbors and friends. This is affordable housing at its best.

I absolutely love living here. I can run my business from a beautiful space and the location is so nice near the lightrail. The area has many small businesses that I enjoy supporting/friending. Obviously it's affordable, but it's also just so so valuable. I get to in an arts-oriented community, have access to beautiful communal spaces- yoga/dance, fitness, various art studios, rooftop grilling, and my loft is soooo gorgeous. It is the envy of all my friends. Everything works properly. Seriously. Maintenance staff are so professional and my privacy is very respected by management- I always know

I love living at the CAL - I lived here a few years ago and recently moved back in two months ago with my partner. We work at the U and the train station is right across the street. Local restaurants and grocery stores close by. The management is great and attentive - the building is always clean. Dance studio! Our upstairs neighbor is a tapdancer and that doesn't even phase us!

Highly recommend for artists or creative people in general. Management is very friendly and understanding before and after moving in. Being in a creative community is inspiring. The amenities are not only gorgeous, but extremely useful toward whatever creative career you’re striving for. CAL understands the importance of being a creative so all creative amenities are open 24/7 including the gym! Since moving into my loft, I’ve only ever had minor maintenance issues. These issues were ALWAYS fixed within the next business day. The lofts are also dog friendly with friendly dogs! Residents are

My wife and I have lived here for over three years and have loved it! The building itself is fantastic with many great amenities. The music room and community room have seen a lot of use from us. The building is in a solid area with so many things so close. And being right off the lightrail you can get anywhere! The management has been fantastic and we also love the maintenance crew! They are always quick to help and get the job done right. I'd highly recommend checking it out!

Carleton is easily the best place I have ever lived. I have never had a living space so unique and not "cookie-cutter." The exposed brick and contrasting stucco-like walls are beautiful, the wood beams are always a talking point when we have guests over, and the polished concrete floors are so industrial and sharp -I just love it! I also love the fact that we have a gym on site, such that I don't have to leave the building in the winter if I want to exercise. The studio spaces are great, and are worth living here just for that! There are few places that have everything an artist needs without them

I LOVE my apartment here. Any time that I've had a maintenance issue (maybe 3 times in a year and a half), they've responded SUPER quickly. When I first moved in, I have to say, I was not a fan of the leasing manager. Luckily for the whole building, she moved on and Leah took over and has been doing an incredible job. They've really been working hard to create a sense of community by hosting free events for residents, asking for input when issues come up, and Leah even got an email system set up so that they can message us with updates (like snow plowing), instead of printing out sheets of paper

Living at the Carleton Artist Lofts has been nothing but an amazing experience thus far. Of the 3 previous apartments me and my husband have lived in, this one is by far the best & most positive environment we've had. Management is prompt and communicative, and very easily reachable when the need arises. The building & lofts themselves are gorgeous, with lots of natural lighting, beautiful old historic brick, and open and spacious design. Seeing artwork from the residents spread throughout the building is lovely and heartwarming. Perfectly situated right on the green line and also close enough
