I asked for a touch up and lighter, he covered all my hair with a darker color and covered my expensive highlights. I am still angry! To add insult to injury he took an hour and half to blow dry my hair which only takes me 40 minutes. I left the salon with frizzy hair and a lot darker with my highlights covered.

One star is too high. after many questions I received a brasilian blowout that was not supposed to be as strong or smelly as the normal one. unfortunately it was very strong. he did not have even one fan on me to dissipate the fumes even though I kept asking for a fan. he kept looking for sunglasses for me as my eyes were irritated. I ended up running out into the street as I could not breath. I could feel all the chemicals in my lungs. I could not breath at all. after a minute I was better.

I moved back to the city after being away 5 years, and my trusted hair salon closed. I had to find a new hairdresser - one who would listen, but also one I could trust with a natural artistic talent. Giovanni and his marathon-running wife Sacchi are two very interesting New Yorkers who love what they do and provide a unique experience. Over the years they feel like family, and since I met them my hair has looked healthy and good. They know how to cut your hair so you feel younger. The salon shares space with an eyebrow salon and it is definitely not fancy in its decor. But don't let its less-than-glam set up be the judge of the salon's excellent quality and service. I started going there about a year ago for an inexpensive blow out ($35 for my long hair). And when my regular hair dresser went on a vacation and I needed a simple quick trim, I stopped in. It was one of the best hair cuts I have ever gotten and half the price of what I would normally pay. My golden highlights turned brassy/yellow and I couldn't get an appointment at my regular salon in time,

This salon only provides the highest quality and service. I have been getting my hair professionally straightened for the past 4 years, and no other salon has done a better job than Giovanni Sacchi. If you have short corse Asian hair and want a chic sophisticated layered cut, avoid this place at all costs. This is my first time leaving review at yelp, because I am simply HORRIFIED by my hair right now: spiky, insanely uneven and masculine. Obviously the stylist has little experience with corse east Asian hair. Halfway through I had to stop him from shortening my hair because even dampening with water the back batch sticks upward like a Mohawk. Went for a straightening a few months ago - after my normal stylist retired. Salon was a bit of a mess, but that's not a reason for a bad review. Sacchi straightened my hair, which was much more of a relaxing or spot treatment in which she didn't leave chemicals on long enough, missed several spots completely with chemicals and the flat iron, and (as suspected) after washing my hair I found it a bumpy, wavey mess. $400 + "tip" down the drain. Okay, so the guys there were really nice. So I feel a bit bad for the 2 stars. But at the end of the visit, am I happy with the haircut I went in for? Not so much. They have a promo going on for a shampoo and cut, but no blow dry. I find that a bit weird because the only way to really make sure the cut is well done is checking once the hair has dried. And really, drying the hair up isn't the biggest task. :/

I went to Giovanni Sacchi to get Japanese Straightening. Sacchi did my hair, and at times had an assistant help with blow drying/straightening which helped speed up the process a bit. It took 3.5 hours and I have long hair. My hair has come out very nice, soft and straight! Honestly I live by Japanese Hair Straightening.. this is probably my 6th time getting it done, but first time having it done at Giovanni Sacchi. It is so easy and low maintenance rather than having to deal with my naturally thicker, a bit frizzier, and somewhat curly hair.

The only reason I didn't give it five stars was for the environment, because it feels a little run-down, but that was only a minor detractor.
I was looking for affordable, ombre color, and I definitely got it! Giovanni did my hair and he did a beautiful job. I will definitely go back because the price is right and now I know I can trust him to do my color. Everyone was very friendly and my hair looks chic!!

Walking in the door at Giovanni-Sacchi as a first-timer, you get a hello, how you are, and what's your name. There's no flashy receptionist, no espresso, no manager in a three-piece suit. Giovanni asks your name not because he wants to see when he can fit you in, but because he actually wants to know your name. That way, after consistently going to him for 8 years, he can recognize who you are when you call for an appointment.
