Cathy first took an interest in yoga in the early 1980's while watching Lilias Folan's yoga program on PBS. In the 1990's, Cathy studied several Hatha yoga traditions, including Ashtanga, Kundalini and Anusara yoga. She began teacher trainings in 2003 and studied extensively with several well-known Anusara yoga teachers including Deb Neubauer, Ellen Saltonstall, Mitchel Bleier, and John Friend.
No! The beauty of yoga is that anyone young or old, athletic or not, large or small can practice. Yoga is a personal practice and we encourage each student to move at their own pace without pushing their body. We honor each student's individual ability, and we work with cues and actions (the key being mindfulness of the body!) to help you nd an optimal place for yourself in every pose.

I first met OmShanti in a local coffee shop (then Geronimo now Bubba & Bugs - another local favourite of mine; highly recommend them as well) where I overheard her talking about organizing a free community initiative called Yoga In The Park. As a local fitness studio owner myself I couldn't help but join in the conversation. We ended up collaborating on a community wellness initiative called Fitness in the Park (free outdoor yoga or fitness classes every Friday in the park from May thru August).
Personally I had never been a fan of yoga (having had a, let's say, less than stellar experience in

I've been going to the Bodhi Tree for a few years now and I have enjoyed it before as well as after the new owner took over. Mel is a wonderful presence in the studio and a gifted teacher always taking her students needs into consideration whether in or out of a class. She has a wonderful variety of yogis so if you don't resonate with her there are so many others that you will grow to enjoy. I highly recommend even just going in for a tour and a bit of information. Mel is a wealth of information and is always happy to help with almost anything.

This place used to be great, until new people took over and turned it into the joke of the yoga world. If you insist on going here, you'd better be quick before they run it into the ground and go bankrupt.
For a decent yoga class, go across the road, where all their instructors apparently went after they quit.
