Tom Spector began meditating while in graduate school at Yale University in 1968. He realized he had low self-esteem, lots of anger, and was flunking out of an intense, specialized program. Meditation helped him immensely. He began to work out his deep-seated personal growth issues and rapidly became a star student, completing the full Ph.

I never really wanted to become a dentist. But, for some reason, after earning a BA in psychology and philosophy, I spent one unhappy year in dental school. I soon realized it wasn't right for me, so on a whim, I applied to graduate school at Yale University in the Department of Pharmacology. To this day, I still don't understand why Yale's highly prestigious center for drug research accepted me as a student.
Tom - It was an absolute pleasure meeting you yesterday at X. It was a true blessing that God put you in my path, I am so grateful for your kindness. I know I got a bit emotional when you were there, but I will never forget what you said and how it affected me. I know cancer is not the end of my life, but the beginning of a journey that has changed my life forever for the better.

I have practiced yoga with Joie for more years than I can remember. Joie is able to inspire a beginner and challenge an experienced student all at the same time. As she works alongside her students, she individualizes and adapts poses and instructions so that each one of us present in the room gets the full benefit of our practice. There is great camaraderie in her studio, and I am fortunate that it has been an integral part of my life and my health for many years.

Best yoga class I have ever attended. Challenging and fun! Classmates are at various levels and abilities, but Joie has the ability to address everyone's needs to make us all feel comfortable, but challenged.

I found Joie and Hatha House yoga back in 1999. I had become accustomed to chronic sciatica pain from a car accident about a decade prior that nothing seemed to alleviate - I could not sleep or sit for extended periods. After becoming a regular student the pain disappeared. I credit yoga and specifically Joie's thoughtful, holistic approach. She is a gem among the vast field of today's yoga teachers!

I have been to many yoga studios, and Joie's studio is the most welcoming by far. I've gone intermittently to classes for over 4 years. Classes are 1.5 hours and offered on Wednesday evenings (5:30-7) and Saturday mornings (8:30-10). Typically there are 4-7 students in on Wednesday evenings (can't report on Sat morning numbers), which allow for students to get to know each other. Joie has mats and towels to borrow if needed. Most importantly, classes are tailored to the students' needs and often Joie takes votes from the class on certain poses to focus on. Joie provides gentle
