Yoga East
Our class schedule includes ashtanga vinyasa, yin, restorative, meditation, and Mysore-for all ages and abilities, livestream and in-person. Our classes are an exploration of personal practice and the deeper meaning of yoga in relationship to all aspects of life. This is an interactive discussion on the Yoga Sutra's of Patanjali.

The Sutras are regarded as the authoritative text on yoga, outlining the eight limbs and offering guidelines for living a meaningful and purposeful life. Join Taylor for a unique opportunity to receive individual attention and deepen your practice in a Mysore-style setting. This course is designed for anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of the major muscle groups, skeletal structure, and ligaments that are used in our daily practice.
Services
Located in Kittery, Maine, Yoga East was founded in 2001 and is one of the most well established Ashtanga yoga shalas in the northeast. At Yoga East we teach Ashtanga vinyasa yoga in the tradition of Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India as well as supporting practices to explore the endless and profound path of yoga.
Classes celebrating the Ashtanga tradition include led classes: Beginner Vinyasa, Vinyasa I, Vinyasa II, Primary Series, and Second Series, which are available every day. In addition, we offer guided independent study classes called Mysore 5 days a week. Each student works at their own pace and level with an individual series or therapeutic approach.
The foundation of any practice begins with the basics. This class is THE PLACE TO START for anyone interested in beginning yoga or reconnecting with their practice. You are given the opportunity to explore your breath (ujjayi), meditative movement (vinyasa), and calming the mind by turning your awareness inward towards the unique aspects of Ashtanga yoga.
Props are there to take the personal out of the practice. There are so many props used as tools we use in an asana practice to achieve this: blocks, straps, poles, blankets, sandbags, to name a few. My favorite prop is a chair. It is a sturdy tool that has all of the angles we look to find in our practice.
Join Taylor Hunt, founder of Trini Foundation and master Ashtanga Yoga teacher for a weekend-long workshop at Yoga East. Register for the full weekend workshop package or individual. I had a super amazing time today. I did a drop-in class at Yoga East. The owner Kimberly D taught an outdoor class in the park just across from the studio. She gave me a tour afterwards. Its just a totally awesome space. I believe she is doing zoom classes too. Kimberly is a wonderful teacher with a moderately challenging class today but clearly one could modify for any level. Easy booking online. The park was a perfect setting. Everyone was socially distanced with masks on before and after class. Great location just across the bridge from Portsmouth. 3 or 4 minutes off I-95. And walking distance

I'm going into my fourth week of a beginner's program and I adore Yoga East! Kimberly remembers my name every time I come in, and she was super helpful making sure I could participate without flaring up my carpal tunnel. She always answers questions and helps you in a way that doesn't make you feel like you have no idea what you're doing. She simplifies it until it works! I will definitely be going back. Go early limited parking in the lot.

I took my first yoga class ever last night at the beautiful Yoga East studio in Kittery, Maine! Mary was a excellent instructor who was easy to follow and provided modifications for me since I am not at all flexible! The studio is a perfect place of serenity and peace! I am looking forward to learning more about the practice of yoga at Yoga East in the coming weeks!

If you're looking to start Yoga around the Seacoast, stop right here. You don't need to go any further. Find out when the next beginner series starts and sign up right away. You will learn things at a paced that's not rushed, and you'll learn them right, with amazing instructors.

I don't have much experience with other Yoga studios, only having been to some classes at a gym that weren't very good. But, once I found Yoga East, I knew I didn't need to look elsewhere. And from what I hear from friends, it's one of the best studios they've been to

Best place for yoga. Great, dedicated teachers. Easy to learn the moves and endless opportunity to learn more. Second only to my favorite yoga instruction in San Francisco.

Yoga East brings excellent workshops, yoga celebs and programs to Portsmouth. And it's not about ego. Seems perfectly genuine, like Yoga East simply wants to build a dynamic yoga community and practice, practice, practice.

Only trouble is finding the studio entrance... it's very - er - subtle. "Go past a pile of rocks on the banister of the exterior stairs," one patron advised, "behind the bank
